Soylent and EBT/Food Stamps

I noticed EBT will only cover certain flavors of Soylent. The cacao works but strawberry and vanilla won't go through. This was at Walmart and Target. Anyone purchasing Soylent RTD 4 packs/singles with EBT had this problem?
I know that there are sometimes EBT purchase restrictions with things classified as dietary supplements or protein powder. Is cacao under a different category?

THANK YOU SOYLENT! I am broke waiting for payday and all I have is just enough soylent powder to survive till the end of the month

I am sincerely grateful in this time of scarcity because scarcity sharpens our survival priorities. And hey I'm only about 5 pounds away from a perfect cute J-Lo physique so this verge-of-starvation week is reinforcing my gratitude and discipline to ration, slender physique as a collateral bonus. And now that I absolutely have no option whatsoever to eat when I'm bored or eat emotionally or snack for entertainment, I am exponentially grateful for the things I listed in my 1st sentence. And grateful for SOYLENT
OMG how many times Soylent has saved my life.
So I found among my last pantry items: one old packet of Soylent Cacao powder (expired 2018 but IDFC, I am so fekkin hungry); and I found a bag of Plain Keto Fuel Powder that literally tastes like regurgitated pancake bile but again IDFC, I am so hungry, and I found a canister of Keto powder chocolate that I found on sale at Walmart a year or two ago so we'll see how that one goes. But between those 3 containers I will be able to survive until payday Wednesday.

Powdered Flavors

I'm sure there are plenty of people who agree with this, but I haven't really heard too many people say it, so I will. I think it's pretty sad to see the Soylent Powders really being ignored. There's only two flavors: Original and Cacao. There used to be Cafe Mocha, but that got discontinued.
Meanwhile, the RTD drink have a wide variety of flavors (Original, Creamy Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, Mint Chocolate, Banana, Stacked Chocolate, Cafe Mocha, Cafe Vanilla, Cafe Chai, and Cacao), with only Nectar being discontinued (to my knowledge), and Cacao probably on the way out.
Why can't these flavors be made available in powdered form? If that's really too expensive, can't they release some kind of flavor boosters to mix in with the Soylent Original Powder, like Huel does?
To be honest, I've found myself enjoying the powdered Soylent more often than the RTD drinks simply due to cost; it's *way* cheaper to purchase a tub of Soylent Cacao Powder from Walmart than it is to purchase the RTD drinks from... really, anywhere. However, having only the choice between bland and chocolate gets old.

Cacao 1.8 VS 1.9 Flavor Change?

Hi. When I first tested out Soylent last year I chose Cacao powder. I assume it was during the 1.8 period. I enjoyed the bland cocoa-y taste because I have a hard time forcing down breakfast right after waking.
I recently bought some mildly expired Soylent powder from Walmart. Think the most was 4 months. I’ve read enough to see that generally people consider it still in good condition with supposedly no flavor changes until a lot longer out of date.
The 1.9 cacao smelled and tasted “sour”. At first I was concerned it might be spoiled. After smelling again, I realized it didn’t smell spoiled, but smelled like American/Hershey chocolate. The taste was also like Hershey. I realize not everyone might know what I mean about American chocolate being sour but you can read about it on the Hershey bar wiki. I just didn’t want people immediately assuming the worst without context.
In addition, it seems to be a bit more strongly flavored. More chocolatey than the mild cocoa I remembered. So two downgrades for me. I’m kinda hoping it’s not a real change and was just due to being out of date. But I ate the whole bag no issues so I’m guessing it’s not that.
The 1.9 original and mocha I tried were good, though I can’t compare to older versions. Original made me think of vanilla, I think a placebo because of the color. Though it’s a bit too bland compared to the sweet spot 1.8 cacao hit. Was inoffensive enough on days I prefer it bland, but present enough to enjoy on days where I could handle flavor.
If it’s an actual change, do any competitors have less sour chocolate flavors or good neutrals? I’ve been trying to find another option that’s cheaper and has less carbs for a while. Or maybe just slower digesting carbs at the least. I’ve ruled out milk fuel because mild fluctuating lactose intolerance, and getting a replacement is expensive.
I’ve heard Plenny is cheaper or better. But also that their chocolate is the worst flavor. I’m iffy on trying the rest of the options.
I’m not normally picky, but they make me think “what if it tastes like X flavored product that I don’t like?” especially considering I don’t know how that brand tastes in general. Plus fruity flavors are less bland, especially if tart. Everything else seems expensive or will require paying for international shipping.

Tried Soylent for the first time

TLDR: 7/10 will try for weight loss and better nutritional balance
I have been contemplating about trying soylent for a very long time, especially after first listening tot he first SYSK podcast about it. I have also been trying to lose weight and think soylent along with exercise would be a good combination to meet my 150lbs goal (currently at 230lbs).
I didn't want to order a complete case of 12 or the powder online considering it is very expensive in case I didn't like it and would be a waste of money. Fortunately, I discovered that my local Walmart sells singles and got vanilla and cacao flavors. My first impression of Soylent is that it is exactly as I had imagined it; a slightly thick solution with a taste akin to protein shakes. The smell of it reminds me of dry vitamins that my mom takes or like medicine with a hint of chocolate. Its consistency is slightly thicker than whole milk, not overly viscous to make you choke but still thin enough to chug down. However, after the first few sips of Soylent, I felt the need to chase it with some water.
Halfway finishing the bottle, I started to feel fuller than I was before. After finishing the whole thing a few minutes later I felt satisfied; not overly full or underly peckish, but satiated enough to not need anything to eat along with it. Altogether, it wasn't a pleasant nor unpleasant experience. I will consider trying the DIY powders and purchasing more of the bottles in my weight loss endeavors.

dried cocoa beans
Break down and Background
Cocoa powder (Theobroma cacao), also known as dark chocolate, was introduced by the Spanish in the beginning of the 16 century. Cocoa beans are thought to have first been used by the Maya civilization of Central America for the myriad of health benefits that come with it.

Cocoa powder is a dried, ripen, and fully fermented seed from the Theobroma tree’s cacao seeds, a small evergreen tree from the Malvaceae family. It’s a popular baking ingredient due to its addictive nature and plant-based compounds.

How is cocoa powder made?
Tryptophan is an essential amino acid that’s a precursor for the production and secretion of serotonin, the chemical that promotes wellbeing and happiness. Cocoa powder has many health benefits and very few side effects.

From the cocoa pod to natural cocoa powder, there are many, many steps to take before creating a consumable unsweetened organic cocoa powder or dark chocolate.

So how is dark chocolate and cocoa powder made? First, cocoa beans are removed from their pods, later being fermented and then dried, roasted, and ground into a thick cocoa liquor.

The liquor is actually made up of the very fine, broken down bean cell particles and cocoa butter that was tucked inside the cocoa nibs, which were inside of the beans.

The cocoa liquor is then refined from dehusking dried and roasted beans. Later pressed to extract the cocoa butter, leaving behind a cake-like mass made up of pure, fine cocoa bean particles.

Afterwards, the cocoa cake is ground to then make a finalized unsweetened cocoa powder product, that’s rich and dark in color.

Natural cocoa powder is a staple ingredient for everyone who likes baking. Dark chocolate is called for in many chocolate dessert recipes since it adds an intense, bitter chocolatey flavor to everything from cookies, to pies, cakes, and other desserts.

It’s also a somewhat expensive ingredient because it’s an exotic type of vegetable. It's also justified by being very healthy, since it’s full of healthy fats, fiber, protein, and antioxidants.

Helping enhance the taste of many dessert recipes, organic or dutch-process cocoa powder is a versatile ingredient that should be a part of everyone's daily diet since it’s so easy to fit it into your regiment. Unless you’re allergic of course.

You can use cacao powder for it’s wonderful chocolate flavor. Most of the top staple desserts recipes out there include baking powder, baking soda, and chocolate. The baking process of using baking powdebaking soda coupled with cacao enhances it’s chocolaty flavor.

spoon of cocoa powder on a table

Be careful when looking to buy raw natural cocoa powder, as many companies add fillers, additives, and other chemicals to increase the weight volume of the packaging box.

Hot chocolate and regular chocolate powder mixes aren’t raw organic cocoa powder as the instant chocolate powder mixes on the market often include a lot of sugar and emulsifiers, like lecithin, to help the chocolate mix better with water.

Don’t use hot chocolate mix in place of raw cacao when you are baking. They’re definitely convenient, but there are way more health benefits to adding raw ingredients to your food or drinks instead of pre-packaged mixes.

Unless your recipe explicitly asks you to use a hot cocoa mix or dark chocolate powder, just use the raw cocoa powder with your milk or cream instead and add any sweetener you like. Preferably a healthy option like Stevia.

Due to cocoa powder’s nitric oxide and flavanols, cacao can dilate your blood vessels which will improve blood flow and lower blood pressure, which is very useful before and after weight training and cardio workouts.

And who doesn’t like a healthy heaping tablespoon of dark chocolate? It’s one of the most loved and addictive flavors on the planet. So much so that multiple research papers have proven that it can even become addictive in many cases.

The rich intense flavor of natural cocoa powder is delicious with anything including coffee, smoothies and protein shakes, or even oatmeal.

Some people even make savory chocolate sauce recipes, a gravy to add on to their meat of choice, or a dark chocolate chestnut pasta.

Cocoa Powder Health Benefits
Other than its incredible flavor, there are many other benefits of organic cocoa powder. Many research papers have found that it has impeccable health benefits for your heart, brain, and overall health through weight loss.

There are so many incredible health benefits of eating organic cocoa powder that you won’t believe that something so delicious could be so good for you. These benefits have lasting effects that can improve your health in every aspect.

If you’re struggling with irregular mood swings and regulation, cocoa has positive health impacts on the brain which also helps relieve symptoms of depression.

Researchers have displayed that cacao is a natural antidepressant that can healthily increase your levels of happiness.

Cocoa contains nitric oxide the mood-boosting chemicals anandamide. It’s a fatty acid neurotransmitter that helps make people feel slightly euphoric, similarly to THC.

Raw cocoa powders have also been found to have an effect on the reward center of the brain.

Especially due to the transformation of tryptophan to serotonin that naturally occurs in the body. Tryptophan is an amino acid precursor to the formation of new serotonin neurotransmitters in the brain.

ground cocoa powder and cacao beans

Researchers have also found that cocoa interacts with your brain’s neurotransmitters to release dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins, all of which make you feel happier.

  1. Can Boost your Libido and Sexual Performance
Cacao is the pure, unrefined form of chocolate. We eat the seed, which contains another alkaloid called theobromine.

Theobromine acts as a blood vessel widener and is actually used in modern medicine for this purpose.

It also increases blood flow throughout your body because it will lower your blood pressure, reduce inflammation, dilate your arteries.

Cacao can be consumed as a powder, nibs, or whole beans. Another mood-enhancing chemical found in cocoa is phenethylamine, this chemical releases the same endorphins that are released when we fall in love, and so this can help improve your sex life.

In addition, it can also reduce your risk of heart attack and stroke. Mostly linked to the flavanoid contents because it reduces bad LDL cholesterol, improves blood flow, as well as dilates and relaxes your blood vessels, in turn reducing internal inflammation.

  1. Boosts Energy and Helps With Weight Loss
Cocoa powder contains a healthy amount of caffeine and nitric oxide. These help boost energy and fight fatigue.

Not only does it have a good amount of caffeine, but it contains magnesium as well.

Two tablespoons of natural cocoa powder have about 14% of your body’s daily value of Magnesium. Magnesium has been found to keep your body naturally energized.

Magnesium has been found to protect your body against other issues such as high blood pressure, type II diabetes, and osteoporosis. Cocoa is known to be one of the healthiest ways to keep your body energized, awake, and focused.

Due to all of the health benefits natural dark chocolate has on your cardiovascular system and digestive system, there’s been many studies concluding it’s relation with weight loss.

Raising levels of fat oxidation, reducing appetite, controlling blood sugar levels, and insulin sensitivity all help reduce your total weight; mainly targeting your body fat stores.

  1. Boosts your Cardiovascular Health
Cocoa is loaded with the anti-inflammatory antioxidant flavanol and nitric oxide. These antioxidants have been found to improve your heart health and your entire cardiovascular system.

Flavanols and nitric oxide can protect your body against cardiovascular disease, improves your blood circulation and lowers the risk of stroke. Having similar effects to olive oil and coconut oil.

Other antioxidants, called polyphenols, in cocoa are known to help reduce HDL is (bad cholesterol) levels and prevent atherosclerosis, also known as hardening of the arteries.

  1. Boost your Skin Health
You should try to have a daily serving of hot cocoa to have long-lasting, positive health benefits.

Flavanols, nitric oxide, polyphenols have been found to help you protect your cells from premature oxidation this will keep your skin from looking aged or becoming wrinkled.

It can also improve your skin texture and give it a glowing look. In one study, researchers found that dark chocolate helped improve skin microcirculation, skin hydration, as well as reducing skin swelling and inflammation.

You will look more youthful and bright with just a little more cocoa in your diet. Not only does it help your skin, but using cocoa butter as a moisturizer has also been found to keep skin soft and smooth.

You can try making your own skin moisturizer at home with this simple recipe.

  1. High in Polyphenols, Flavanols, and Antioxidant Enzymes
Flavanols and polyphenols are naturally occurring antioxidants that are rich in foods like nuts, certain vegetables, teas (such as earl grey tea, green tea, oolong tea, and white tea), berries and exotic fruits, chocolate, white wine, and red wine.

They’ve had extensive research linking to improved blood flow, stabilizes blood sugar levels, increases your basal metabolic rate and fat burning processes, heart health, reduces inflammation, and boosts insulin sensitivity.

Natural 70% dark chocolate is one of the richest sources of phenolic compounds, polyphenols, flavanols, and flavanoids which all have powerful antioxidants and the ability to reduce inflammation.

cacao nibs

Because these compounds improves blood flow through your body, this reduces your risk of neurodegenerative diseases and brain function.

These actually go through the blood-brain barrier and supplies nutrients to the brain for the production of neurons and other necessary molecules for proper functioning.

Multiple studies found that daily intake of cocoa flavanols raised the blood flow to the brain by 8% to 11% during a time span of just 2 weeks.

  1. Reduces High Blood Pressure and Improves Heart Health
Raw natural cocoa powders and dark chocolate forms of cacao beans both have equal strengths in helping lower blood pressure.

The purer the powder, the better the effects. A large number of flavanoids are lost during commercial processing, so buying the most unprocessed, raw, and natural cocoa powder product is most optimal.

Mostly linked to the high levels of flavanols and flavanoids, cocoa increases nitric oxide levels in your blood which strengthens blood vessels, arteries, and your heart.

  1. Can Improve Symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes
In actuality, cocoa is full of anti diabetic reactions. The flavanols slow down the carbohydrate absorption and digestion in your gut, raises insulin secretion of the pancreas.

It also makes the transfer of energy from glucose in the blood to your muscles more efficient and internally reduces inflammation in people who are diabetic or non-diabetic.

  1. Protects Against Certain Types of Cancer
All of the flavanols, flavanoids, anti-inflammatory reactions, antioxidants, polyphenols, and phenolic acids all contribute to the strengthening of your gut biome and immune system.

80% of your immune system cells reside near the small intestine and large intestine, having a strong gut biome is your best line of defense against infections, viruses, diseases, and cancer.

Multiple test-tube studies on unsweetened cocoa powder being able to protect cells from degenerative and oxidative damage, inhibits cancerous cell growth and spread, as well as induces and facilitates cancer cell death due to it’s high levels of flavanols.

Cocoa Powder Side Effects and Detriments
Negatively Interacts With Many Medications
One of the biggest factors that hinders global, general public use is its negative interactions and side effects with multiple medications.

Adenosine (Adenocards) negatively interacts with cacao because it contains caffeine. The caffeine in cocoa can block the effects of the medication since caffeine attaches to the same neural receptors that Adenosine binds to.

Adenosine is often used by doctors to perform tests for the heart, primarily used as a cardiac stress test and for facilitating sleep since it’s a vasodilator. Stop taking cocoa or other caffeine-containing products at least 24 hours before a cardiac stress test.

Clozapine (Clozaril) is an atypical antipsychotic medication used to treat schizophrenia, decreasing the rate of suicidal behavior. The body breaks down and metabolize clozapine in order to get rid of it.

The caffeine in cocoa decreases how quickly the body metabolizes clozapine, increasing its concentration. Taking cocoa along with the medication can increase the effects and side effects of clozapine.

Dipyridamole (Persantine) inhibits PDE5 in the blood, which inhibits blood clotting and causes blood vessel dilation. Dipyridamole negatively interacts with the caffeine in cocoa as it might block the effects of dipyridamole.

Caffeine interferes with the dilation of your arteries and increases coagulation of your blood, reducing the blood thinning effects of dipyridamole.

Ergotamine (Ergomar) is an alkaloid that’s structurally similar to a neurotransmitter. It behaves an a vasoconstrictor to reduce the blood flow through the cardiovascular system, used to treat acute migraine attacks.

Caffeine can increase how much Ergotamine the body absorbs. Taking cocoa powder along with Ergotamine may increase the effects and side effects of the medication.

Estrogen pills (Estradiol). While the body breaks down the caffeine found in cocoa powder. Estrogen decreases how the speed at which your body breaks down caffeine, no matter the source.

Taking caffeine along with foods containing estrogen or estrogen supplements may cause jitteriness, headaches, an increased heart rate, and other side effects. If you take estrogen supplements, you should limit or in some cases restrict your caffeine intake.

Making a quick holiday cider with voss kviek - looking for creative thoughts and suggestions

Two of my most reliably good and well received recipes are my NEIPA with expensive ingredients and Voss kviek and a cider I make from Walmart apple juice...
I’m planning to combine the juice with the Voss to make a quick cider or graff that I can serve next weekend at a holiday party.
I have the following ingredients on hand that I may use:
Chocolate malt Crystal 60 Roast barley Willamette Juice Voss Water adjustment stuff Cinnamon sticks Cacao powder
Normally when I make cider I just dump a few packs of Nottingham in and leave it for a few weeks. With Voss I’m going to underpitch and keep the temp elevated using my electric kettle. My plan is to sanitize the kettle and just dump the juice in. I could also do a mini mash with the speciality grains and add it.
Any suggestions on ferm temp or creative uses of my on hand ingredients, or other easy to find ingredients would be awesome!

I sponsored the fund-raiser back when it was still below 100,000$ around the 35,000$ range or maybe a few hours after it started. Basically as soon as I got the email that it had started. I was excited by the idea of Ramen being nutritionally complete. As a long time user of Soylent I was interested in the idea of a salty dish to complement my now Cacao version 1.9 Soylent Powder since having sweets all day gets boring.

After placing the order for the product I was a bit set back by the price. It was 35$ + 8$ shipping, so 43$ for 12 packs making it about 3.59$ per package. Kind of pricey, but this is a new product and I figured the price would drop in the future as production is ramped up. Later I got an update where the owners made it clear that this price point was where it was going to stay with a small article comparing it to high end instant Ramen, which is apparently a thing. I was like, "Ok, so it's going to taste even better right?" At this point I was kind of asking the question, "Who is the target audience for this product? Collage Students?" Mc Donalds cost about the same, maybe less if frugal. Of course this product is healthier but most people who buy Ramen aren't doing it for a balance diet. They're usually piss broke or looking for something fast at 2am in the morning that doesn't involve hiking through snow, getting dressed, or risking getting pulled over for doing 5 in a 40.

At this point I accept that I'm probably not the target audience. I don't know who is, but I'm not. That's fine. I figured I was going to get a treat out of this and probably never order it again mainly do to price. Hell if it tasted really good I might still order some for a rare occasion.

Then I got another update. They were shipping at a loss. I've had this issue when selling stuff on eBay and it sucks, so I added another 10$ pledge to assist. Now the Ramen was 53$ for 12 packs or $4.42 per pack. That's four 1$ burgers at Mc Donald's, a mid size Roast Beef Arby's burger, or two soft shell taco's at Taco Casa. The price is out of my league now. I would probably enjoy my 12 packs and unless there was a price drop, I'd never buy it again. Soylent comes out to about 9$ (I use powder) for a whole day and I only use 3/8ths of a bag a day for breakfast and lunch on work days.

So my package arrived 1/20/2019, about nine months after purchase. I didn't eat any right away as I had picked up Larosa's Rondo's on my way home that day. I forgot I had them for a little while. I'm not sure which day I tried the first one. I tried one last night on 2/19/2019 for a total of two tried.

Preparation
The package has instruction on the back upper left side. I followed them to a tee to make sure I got the full experience. There were three packets and a noodle puck in the ramen pack. One package was the soup base, one was oil, and the last one was vitamins labeled as Noodtriens (Maybe?).

Soy Sauce Chicken
If this is what premium Ramen Noodles tastes like then I'm NEVER eating Ramen Noodles at a Ramen shop. The Soy Sauce Chicken didn't have a strong flavor besides the noodles themselves which I don't have a comparison for. It might have tasted like wheat. It sort of tasted like the first loafs of wheat bread I made back when I first started learning how to bake. I wasn't a natural baker and only recently have I started making Outback quality bread. Needless to say, I think the cheap noodles from Maruchan taste better. I considered replacing the noodles with Maruchan except the base was terrible too. The fact that I had to drink this base made the experience worse. I kind of wanted to cry a little bit, but all the vitamins were in the base so bottoms up. I almost gagged. The taste was unlike anything I've tried before. In the words of Frisk, "The taste was indescribable."

Vegan Mushroom Shio
The noodle taste was the same. The base was different, but not in a good way. There was way more pepper in this base than the Soy Sauce Chicken. This time I decided after drinking most of the base that vitamins be dammed and I rinsed it down the sink.

It's hard to make a comparison of this to anything else I've tried. It had zero taste similarities to any instant ramen I've ever had and I've had a lot. I've tried everything on the KrogeWalmart/Target shelves. Some of those products were not Ramen, but still tasted pretty good.

Conclusion
I admit that I've never had REAL Ramen Noodles, as in I've never gone to a Japanese noodle restaurant. I'm saving that experience for when I reach N4 in Japanese and go on my first vacation ever. Nothing is more authentic than back water local in a country of origin. I also want to try Dagashi from a real store, not a mail order. That stated, I didn't like this experience. I tried a second time thinking maybe my preparation was off or maybe it was the flavor I chose. I dislike Shrimp flavored Maruchan with a heated passion due to pepper usage. I chose chicken first since my favorite Maruchan flavor is chicken.

Now I have 10 packs of ViteRamen that will probably never get eaten. I may try Garlic Pork just to make sure it's terrible all the way a round.

Other Thoughts
I am interested in the [cringe] Noodtriens pack. I wonder what it tastes like and if maybe it was causing the flavor issue. If it doesn't have a flavor, maybe I'll use the pack in Maruchan instead. I wish Maruchan would sell just their seasoning salt as that would be awesome on its own and it might make ViteRamen taste better. Then again, going all Chimera on noodles is kind of dumb.

Don't let my experience dissuade you from trying this product out yourself. I'm very nitch in my likes and dislikes. I dislike the taste of coffee completely. I can't smoke because it tastes bad. My pallet range goes;

  1. Things I like.
  2. Things I can eat without issue.
  3. Things I don't really like but would eat if presented along with items further down this list.
  4. Things I'm not fond of, but I'm out of options or being polite.
  5. Things I dislike. <-- ViteRamen
  6. Plane crash in the frozen north and this was in all the crates.
  7. Shipwreck on bare island.
  8. Slightly better than cannibalism.
  9. Is this food? Can I eat this safely? Is that a rock?
  10. I'm sure this is a ethics violation.
  11. Last of it's kind, looks amphibian tastes suspiciously like chicken.
  12. It was me or them and I clearly won.
  13. Nothing keeps a family together quite like a dark secret.
  14. Not eating it, there is nothing after life and that would be preferable.

Unrelated
Recently I tried Sushi (Cooked, I'm not risking raw) and while it was weird I managed to finish it. Now that I've mostly forgotten the horrors of eel sauce, I might actually try it again. My sisters pushed me to try it. If anyone in the Cincinnati area is interested in Sushi, try Cloud 9 Sushi. It's a cozy hole in the wall that has half priced Sushi every week or so. Don't bother with the fried rice. It's over priced and I make better with left overs.

Addendum
2019-03-21 - My oldest younger sister tried chicken. She was just as unimpressed as I am. Considering that she lost 120 lbs in one year by eating very little and some of the nastiest tasting food I've ever tasted, that is saying something. She finished it claiming that if I could do it, so could she. It was painful to watch. My youngest sister is considering trying it and I'm planning on giving a tri-pack to a friend who is interested in it since I told him how bad it tasted. He couldn't handle original flavor Soylent so it may be interesting to see what his take is on it... IF HE EVER SHOWS UP TO GET IT. Seriously Dino, I have a life too. Don't say you're coming over and then cancel after making me stay home to wait. It's as bad as showing up unannounced.
---------------------
Everything stated, please post if you liked or disliked it and why. Did you have a similar experience to mine? What other meal supplements have you tried?

Edit: It's ViteRamen not VitaRamen. I can't change the title though. Thanks to PoffinsAbound for pointing this out.

Most Expensive Foods In The World

Most Expensive Foods In The World
https://preview.redd.it/jpls5bam69z31.png?width=1197&format=png&auto=webp&s=c65d2831fa9cf175d0d7c4849b0ecb2b7d11c0aa
Now we all love food don’t get me wrong, and who can beat a nice meal in a more upmarket restaurant? But paying over $600 for a burger, or $150 for a pizza seems ludicrous – though if you have the money, why not! Here we’re going to look at some of the world’s most expensive foods, obviously this doesn’t list every type of food by any means but I’ve chosen some of the world’s favorites and those that are most common. So let’s begin!

Wagyu Beef

Wagyu beef is the world’s most expensive beef, costing around $275 a lbs for the meat itself, and a 2000 vintage cote de boeuf, or rib steak, costing $3200. Why is it so pricey? Apparently, for the steak at least, it’s due to the very small numbers of hanging aged Wagyu ribs and the very low stress levels the cattle are put through both during slaughter, with a specially designed abattoir, and during rearing. Wagyu beef itself must come from a specific breed of Japanese cattle with incredibly high fat marbling, allowing the meat to in essence melt in your mouth. There is however budget versions offering Wagyu beef burgers at $4.40 for a pack of 2.

Civet Coffee

Civet coffee or Kopi Luwak is a type of coffee derived from coffee cherries that has already passed through the South Asian palm civet or Civet cat’s digestion system and a quick search puts the price at about $75 per 9 ounce pack. The cats eat the cherries for the fleshy pulp, and as the bean travels through its digestive system the enzymes seep into the beans causing them to change. After gathering, thorough washing, sun drying, roasting and brewing, these beans have a distinct flavor that’s much less bitter.

Saffron Spice

Saffron holds the title of the most expensive spice, with Spanish Saffron for example costing around $300 an ounce in Walmart. Saffron comes from the saffron crocus, this flower bears up to four flowers with each having three vivid crimson stigmas, these stigmas are handpicked, dried and then air sealed which kind of explains the price. One pound is the equivalent of 80,000 flowers or one acre, so use it sparingly.

Truffles & Mushrooms

Truffles are one of the most expensive ingredients in the world, with the white costing more than the black varieties. Truffles are held very highly in society and are incredibly tasty but in many peoples opinion the price is nothing more than a status symbol with white truffles costing up to $1,400 per pound. The Perigord, a black truffle, for example costs $1.47 – and it long weighs 0.03 ounce)! Matsasuke, a prized Japanese answer to the black truffle, holds the title for the world’s most expensive mushroom, costing around $1,000 per pound.

Belugan Caviar

The most expensive of all caviar and the world’s most expensive food is ‘Almas’ or Belugan Caviar which comes from the Iranian Beluga fish, a sturgeon. A kilogram (2.2lbs) of ‘black gold’ is sold for over $28,850. Almas is produced from a 60-100 years old rare albino sturgeon’s eggs which swam in the southern Caspian Sea which is much less polluted.

Juicy’s Outlaw Grill Hamburger

The world’s most expensive hamburger is expensive not due to ingredients but size. The burger sells for $5,000 and is made by Juicy’s Foods and Ovations Food services for Juicy’s Outlaw Grill, USA. This was a humongous burger weighing 777lbs. The most expensive normal sized burger, when discounting those that must be purchased alongside expensive drinks etc., would be the Honky Tonk burger in Glamburger, London, England. The burger costs around £1200 ($1500) and consists of a Kobe and Wagyu patty garnished in gold leaf, with lobster, caviar, venison, a duck egg and black truffle.

The Chocopologie

The most expensive chocolate concoction comes from Knipschildt, a Danish chocolatier. The Chocopologie is a $250 dark chocolate truffle, with a black truffle at its heart. It’s made of blended 70% Valrhona cacao combined with truffle oil to form a ganache and hand rolled before being dusted with cocoa powder. In terms of simple chocolate though, the To’ak wins. To’ak means earth and tree in Ecuadorian dialects and costs around $260 per bar this, according to To’ak, is because it’s made from the 5% of cacao labeled as ‘fine-grade’ whereas normal chocolate comes from the other 95%. With that price you’d hope it’d be the size of a baseball bat but no, the bar weighs just 1.5 ounces with a 7-8mm cacao bean in the center and must, for flavor, be eaten with wooden tongs. It takes 36 steps to produce and is 81% cacao mass and 19% sugar, that’s it.

Cocoa extract/powder vs Chocomine

Hello. Looking for information and opinions on cocoa extracts like Chocomine vs basic generic cocoa/cacao powder.
I've taken a supplement with Chocomine in it in the past and really liked it. Afterwards,I purchased a generic cocoa extract from Beyond-A-Century,but the effects were not the same. This was a few years ago.
I've gotten back into working out and taking supplements to boost my workouts and remembered how much I liked the Chocomine supplement. I did a quick Google search and saw that Nootropics Depot sells Chocomine powder for a reasonable price. So I was thinking of ordering some.
My basic question is,how would some of the generic extracts sold by companies like Bulk Supplements compare?
Also, when I asked over at the /Supplements ,it was suggested that I could just buy basic cocoa powder at Walmart. I went there and got LIVFit Cacoa powder. I've been taking 2 tablespoons of the powder along with a cup of coffee, but I am not getting the same synergistic effects that i got back in the day when I took caffeine/coffee with Chocomine. My guess is because basic cacao powder is not standardized for anything like Chocomine is.

Cheap chocolate

I use two prerolls for my chocolate. I tear up the prerolls and place them in a canning jar and decarb them in a toaster oven be sure to put the jar lid on. I set the oven at 240° for 1/2 hour then set the oven back to 200° for another 1/2 hour. Then I let jar cool down and spray the cannabis with everclear. I just get it wet or damp. Then I put the jar in the freezer for 1 hour and then shake it up real good and place it back in the freezer for another hour. Then I take it out of the freezer and put a 1/4 teaspoon of sunflower lecithin in the jar then I put two and a half tablespoons of coconut oil into the jar and put the lid back on. Then I put the jar into a pan of water and start the stove on a real low temperature. I bought a thermometer a cheap digital one. And I try to keep temperature at 190°. + or - 5° and cook for two hours after the water reaches 180°. Then I get a 4 ounce chocolate bar that’s about 48 % cacao. Use a double boiler break up bar add one teaspoon of vanilla and a teaspoon of powdered sugar. Use a strainer and drain the oil out of jar use the back of spoon and press all the oil out of cannabis. Add the oil to chocolate and mix real good. Pour in a mold put in refrigerator untill hard and enjoy. The mold will help you get more even pieces. I try and find prerolls that have at least 25% thc. That will give you 500 mg of thc. If you make 10 pieces that will give you 50 mg. Per piece. If you make 20 that will give you 25 mg. I get 1 gram prerolls for $8.00 the chocolate bar is $1.00. The mold and thermometer I bought at Walmart for about $10.00 for both but these you can use for a long time then the sunflower lecithin was about $6.00 and is 8 oz. using 1/4 teaspoon at a time it’s about $0.01. So I have about $20.00 per batch which works out to be $2.00 per chocolate on a 10 piece and $1.00 on a 20 piece batch. Make sure you leave lid on the jar everclear is highly flammable be careful if you use gas stove. Do not use very much everclear just get the cannabis damp.

Definite effect from cacao powder

I've been researching theobromine, PEA, etc all week and can't find much useful info about this, but have been getting a definite psycoactive effect from cacao.
All this week I've been drinking 2 or 3 mugs per day of hot chocolate made of the following: 2-3 tablespoons of cacao powder, 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract, a little nutmeg and cinnamon, 1 tbsp brown sugar, 1-2 cups of high fat milk.
I also take 20-30mg adderall IR for 1 year, which usually wears off around 6pm and is hit and miss most days.
This last week however it feels like the adderall is at 100% all day, every day. It seems to last in to the next morning even, similar to the first week I started taking it. The only thing that really changed is the cacao.
I feel that amphetamine bronchodilation feeling in my chest soon after I drink it, even though the last 10mg adderall dose was 8+ hours ago. Heart beat gets strong but BP and HR is ok.
Today I had a cup in the morning but then ran out of milk. I crashed in the afternoon and had to take a long nap. I bought some milk and made a cup at 10pm and it's back to full effect!?
Other stuff I take: 1 tsp cod liver oil, 2 scoops whey powder per day, a few chunks of ginger root, rooibos tea, hibiscus tea, 30mg optizinc in the morning most days, magnesium most evenings. Occasional cup of black or green tea.
Is this sustainable? What's the catch?
It's some cheap stuff I bought at walmart that is half the price of Navita. It's from Peru but not fairtrade. I almost wonder if it's spiked with something, the packaging is vaguely marketed towards weight loss.
Edit: Just an update for anybody that finds this. I'm suspect it was down to the high coumarin content from the saigon cinnamon I was using in this drink.

Yummy Keto friendly dessert tonight.

So tonight I was really craving something sweet. I knew that I wanted dessert but I also knew I didn't want to goo off of keto by any stretch.
Recepie (2) Rounded tablespoons of PB Fit, 2 rounded spool fulls. (1) Rounded tablespoon of Organic CocaoBetterbody Foods LivFit Superfood Organic Cacao Powder. (1) Packer5 of Stevia sugar Substiture. Unsweetened almond milk until the powder is the consistency of a paste or heavy dough.
The basic steps I followed were to add all of the dry ingredients to a bowl and mix them together. From there I began to add in the almond milk slowly stirring until it was well blended. Once the consistency is right, I formed little bit sized balls (About 1" in diameter). I managed to get 6 on my plate with that you still have.I placed them in the fridge for a bit of firming up and what not.
In hindsight, the could likely be okay in the freezer, but that's not necessary. With everything added together, the entire plate cost me 3g of carbs for my daily allowance. They are mildly sweet without being too much. Hopefully someone else can find this useful.

I call it tiramisu mousse--deliciously low-carb.

Step 1: Buy this: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Bel-Gioioso-Mascarpone-Cheese-8-Oz/10535844
Step 2: Follow the recipe on the back subbing sugar for splenda or low-carb sweetner of your choice, and omitting the lady fingers.
I added a little bit of dark chocolate shavings to the top and raspberries.
Esentially what you'll need is:
*8 oz of mascarpone cheese:
*3 egg yolks
*1/2 cup splenda
*3 egg whites (I skipped this and used whipped cream)
*1 tbsp. cooled coffee or espresso (I used a bit more than they recommended)
*a splash of rum, brandy, or cognac (I used rum)
*keto friendly toppings of your choice (I used raspberries, and dark chocolate shavings.) You can also put cacao powder on top.
Beat egg yolks, splenda, and coffee, booze of choice, then add the cheese. Beat until not bumpy. Mix it with whipping cream. Put in a dish, add toppings, and let it cool for about 3 hours.
I estimated around 20 carbs for the whole things but there are at least 5 servings.
Tastes just like real tiramisu!
