Devy Debrief: 2021 Rookie Mock 2.0

Welcome back to my Rookie Mock series!
The college football season has concluded and draft season is officially upon us. As an NFL Draft fanatic, this is my favorite time of year, and we are going to be absolutely spoiled here in 2021 with one of the better draft classes in recent memory.
This will be a five-round 2021 rookie mock for a 12-team, superflex, PPR league. Individual player analysis is provided for the first two rounds. The final three rounds will have summaries that highlight a few of the players within the tier.
Keep in mind that seniors have the option of an extra year of eligibility available to them. The deadline for them to decide if they’re declaring or staying in school is March 1.
Let's get it.
Round 1:
Note that in parentheses, it is the player’s ranking within his position group, followed by how much that ranking has changed since the last mock. A link to my first mock will be provided at the bottom to compare how draft position has changed.
1.01 - Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson (QB1, --)
Lawrence is almost certainly going to a dysfunctional Jaguars franchise with a head coach I don’t believe in. While I have my doubts that he will live up to the borderline insane expectations fans and the media (myself included) have placed on him over the years, even approaching 90% of that image still easily makes him the top quarterback in this class.
1.02 - Zach Wilson, QB, BYU (QB2, +4)
My tune has changed toward Wilson greatly since the last mock. I finally got a chance to research a little more and catch up on his film. I like what I see. A lot. Wilson has a really high floor and is as close to bust-proof as a QB can be. Strong arm, accurate, generally makes good decisions. I have a great feeling about this kid becoming a top 12 dynasty QB in time.
1.03 - Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State (QB3, +2)
Got your attention? Good. Lance is in possession of the highest fantasy upside of any QB in this class. He’s also the biggest wildcard. Incredibly talented, but incredibly raw, similar to Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes. Based on talent, I want Lance over Fields. The beautiful thing is that you will not have to pay up 1.03 to get him. Realistically, you could wait until 1.06 or later.
1.04 - Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State (QB4, -2)
Fading Fields a little here in favor of Wilson and Lance. Fields is not ready. Point blank. Neither is Lance, to be fair. The fact he is still here at 1.04 is a testament to how talented he is. If he booms, Fields has Deshaun Watson-like upside. There’s also a solid chance he never lives up to expectations. Beware of organizations with a poor track record of developing QBs.
1.05 - Najee Harris, RB, Alabama (RB1, --)
As far as pure runners are concerned, I honestly prefer Travis Etienne and Javonte Williams. But it is what Harris brings in the passing game as well as on the goal line that separates him. If used correctly, Harris could be a 50 reception kind of running back who totals 1500 yards and 15 scores consistently. He also feels like the least landing spot-dependent RB in this class.
1.06 - Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson (RB2, --)
Etienne, to me, is at about the halfway mark between Ronald Jones and Chris Johnson. He’s a 1500 yard rusher in the right situation. The total yardage Etienne can put up might exceed Harris. The main separator between them concerning fantasy production will be touchdowns and PPR points. Both look the part of backs who will produce top 12 RB seasons though.
1.07 - DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama (WR1, --)
Heisman Trophy. Biletnikoff Award. 1st Team All-American. Virtually every receiving record in Alabama history. Smith broke the SEC receiving records set by Ja’Marr Chase last year in fewer games. Despite his slender build, Smith will be the #1 receiver for whoever drafts him. The shades of Marvin Harrison are strong with this one.
1.08 - Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU (WR2, --)
Chase opted out of the 2020 season to prepare for the NFL Draft. Considering how LSU’s season panned out, that opt out actually helped Chase in the end. If this is your guy at WR1, you aren’t wrong. Neither he nor Smith is the wrong answer. They can both be good. That outcome is entirely possible, and it doesn’t get said enough in this conversation.
1.09 - Javonte Williams, RB, North Carolina (RB3, +1)
The cat is out of the bag on Williams now. A relative unknown at the beginning of the season, Williams has risen his stock to be mentioned among the top running backs in this class. If you want to land this angry-running, tackle breaking machine who will receive all the goalline work, you will be paying at least a late 1st. Worth it.
1.10 - Mac Jones, QB, Alabama (QB5, -2)
Jones is a better quarterback prospect than Tua Tagovailoa. This slight fade is less about anything he did and more about the “Konami Code” upside and overall potential of the QBs ahead of him. Jones is going to come into the NFL with a decently high floor and I like his chances to fetch 1st round draft capital this April. That should get him at least a two-year audition as a starter.
1.11 - Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama (WR3, --)
Remember when Henry Ruggs was the first receiver drafted in 2020 and people thought he was going to be good? Waddle is what people were hoping Ruggs would be. He’s a do-it-all receiving threat with legit 4.3 speed who can always get open vertically, as well as do some of the dirty work over the middle. After the catch, few are as dangerous. A steal at 1.11.
1.12 - Rondale Moore, WR, Purdue (WR4, +2)
You ever go so long without seeing a guy play that you forget how good he is? Moore is that guy for me. This dude is the prototype for what the modern NFL slot receiver should be. He can be that rare slot receiver who is also the team’s #1 target. This is one of those late 1st round picks that will easily outperform the invested draft capital.
Round 2:
2.01 - Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida (TE1, --)
If any tight end is worthy of this type of selection in a non-TE premium league, it’s Pitts. Tight ends tend to take a few years to really pop but Pitts is capable of making an impact immediately as a mismatch nightmare from day one. This will likely be the cheapest you’ll ever acquire him.
2.02 - Terrace Marshall Jr., WR, LSU (WR5, +2)
Priority 2nd round target. In almost any other class, Marshall is easily a top 3 receiver. He just happens to be in a class with a Heisman winner, that Heisman winner’s teammate some suggest is actually better, 2019’s Biletnikoff winner, and a dude who caught 114 passes as a freshman.
2.03 - Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota (WR6, -2)
Slight fade of Bateman, still a very good prospect. This is a receiver I have been on about for a while now. He is a really good athlete and has a well-rounded skill set. This will contribute to Bateman being a solid producer early on. He will develop into a team’s #1 receiver in time.
2.04 - Kenny Gainwell, RB, Memphis (RB4, -1)
Gainwell gives me Austin Ekeler vibes. He will see the majority of receiving work among running backs on his team, and his fair share of carries, but he will never be the three-down featured back. If Gainwell is 80% of Ekeler, you aren’t disappointed with this pick.
2.05 - Pat Freiermuth, TE, Penn State (TE2, --)
As great as Kyle Pitts is, the most well-rounded tight end prospect in this class is Freiermuth. The Penn State product is a good blocker and is also no slouch in the receiving game. They don't call him "Baby Gronk" for nothing. He looks every bit the part of a good 10 year starter.
2.06 - Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida (WR7, oversight)
Toney was a pretty egregious oversight in my last mock. This guy is at least a 2nd round talent, and I’ve been hearing some potential 1st round chatter. He’s quick and explosive and is a dangerous deep threat. I like the upside here a lot. Could be a steal at this draft position.
2.07 - Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR, USC (WR8, -3)
St. Brown feels like a strong PPR option from the slot with his crisp route running and great hands. He won’t be a consistent 1000 yard receiver, but looks the part of one who’ll regularly get you 800 yards on 70 receptions. Throw in 5-6 touchdowns, that’s a solid fantasy option.
2.08 - Kyle Trask, QB, Florida (QB6, -2)
Of the big name quarterbacks in this class, Trask is the least desirable as a dynasty asset. While I can still see a world where he is drafted at the tail end of the 1st round this coming April, and he can be a starter in the right system, his chances are the lowest. Alas, this is a superflex mock...
2.09 - Tylan Wallace, WR, Oklahoma State (WR9, +2)
Don’t sleep on Wallace. He came back after a torn ACL in 2019 only to ball out again in 2020. While he probably won’t ever emerge as a #1 receiver, I love his prospects as an eventual high-end #2 target who should produce at around a 700 yard level as a rookie.
2.10 - Michael Carter, RB, North Carolina (RB5, +2)
Much like Gainwell, Carter doesn’t profile as a three-down back in the NFL. But that’s not to say he won’t have fantasy value. This is an explosive runner with some decent receiving chops. He will likely be heavily involved in a committee and provide RB3 or flex production.
2.11 - Trey Sermon, RB, Ohio State (RB6, unranked)
It’s disappointing he got hurt against Alabama, but what Sermon did against Northwestern and Clemson in the games previously really shook things up for this class of running backs. He was JAG status before that Northwestern game, but definitely has people’s attention now.
2.12 - Chuba Hubbard, RB, Oklahoma State (RB7, +1)
Full disclosure, I’m not a big fan of Hubbard. Maybe I’m missing something, but he feels one-dimensional to me. He’s fast though, and will break off big runs. His college production can’t be ignored either. Might be great for bestball, but I’m not expecting a lot of consistency.
Round 3:
3.01 - Dyami Brown, WR, North Carolina (WR10, -1)
3.02 - Seth Williams, WR, Auburn (WR11, -1)
3.03 - Brevin Jordan, TE, Miami (TE3, --)
3.04 - Jermar Jefferson, RB, Oregon State (RB8, -2)
3.05 - Demetric Felton, RB, UCLA (RB9, unranked)
3.06 - James Patterson, RB, Buffalo (RB10, -5)
3.07 - Rhamondre Stevenson, RB, Oklahoma (RB11, unranked)
3.08 - CJ Verdell, RB, Oregon (RB12, -2)
3.09 - Elijah Moore, WR, Ole Miss (WR12, +5)
3.10 - Sage Surratt, WR, Wake Forest (WR13, --)
3.11 - Tamorrion Terry, WR, Florida State (WR14, -2)
3.12 - Khalil Herbert, RB, Virginia Tech (RB13, --)
Jordan is an interesting option in the 3rd. He’s a freaky athlete and is one of those receiver-like tight ends who can be moved all over the formation to create athletic mismatches. He will also receive day 2 draft capital. Felton gives me Antonio Gibson vibes, just 30 pounds lighter. Like Gibson, Felton is a converted receiver who had relatively few touches in college. Will lightning strike again? And finally, keep Moore in mind around this range. He’s going to be a solid slot receiver and outplay this 3rd round status.
Round 4:
4.01 - Zamir White, RB, Georgia (RB14, --)
4.02 - Elijah Mitchell, RB, Louisiana-Lafayette (RB15, +5)
4.03 - Kylin Hill, RB, Mississippi State (RB16, -7)
4.04 - Marlon Williams, WR, UCF (WR15, +6)
4.05 - Anthony Schwartz, WR, Auburn (WR16, unranked)
4.06 - Trevon Grimes, WR, Florida (WR17, unranked)
4.07 - Amari Rodgers, WR, Clemson (WR18, --)
4.08 - Malik Willis, QB, Liberty (QB7, +2)
4.09 - Javian Hawkins, RB, Louisville (RB17, -6)
4.10 - Rakeem Boyd, RB, Arkansas (RB18, -3)
4.11 - Dax Milne, WR, BYU (WR19, unranked)
4.12 - Hunter Long, TE, Boston College (TE4, +2)
Williams is built like a running back and is very strong after the catch. He looks like the kind of guy who can emerge as a starter and I’m targeting him in the 4th round everywhere in rookie drafts this offseason. Also keep an eye on Schwartz and Grimes, a couple of talented SEC receivers who were overshadowed by bigger-name prospects. White might be the most recognizable running back in this group, but Mitchell might be the one most likely to become a starter. Smaller school, lesser known guy. He’ll fly under the radar, just keep that name stashed away in your mind.
Round 5:
5.01 - Tutu Atwell, WR, Lousiville (WR20, -5)
5.02 - Jamie Newman, QB, Georgia (QB8, --)
5.03 - Matt Bushman, TE, BYU (TE5, unranked)
5.04 - Kenny Yeboah, TE, Ole Miss (TE6, -2)
5.05 - Kellen Mond, QB, Texas A&M (QB9, unranked)
5.06 - Dazz Newsome, WR, North Carolina (WR21, -5)
5.07 - Jonathan Adams, WR, Arkansas State (WR22, unranked)
5.08 - Nico Collins, WR, Michigan (WR23, -3)
5.09 - Spencer Brown, RB, UAB (RB19, unranked)
5.10 - Chris Evans, RB, Michigan (RB20, unranked)
5.11 - Racey McMath, WR, LSU (WR24, unranked)
5.12 - Shi Smith, WR, South Carolina (WR25, unranked)
Atwell is a notable faller for me. I acknowledge that he is getting some 1st round draft buzz, and while he's a fun player to watch, I just don't see it. He strikes me as a KJ Hamler type, but smaller. He will be better for an NFL team than a dynasty squad. Unless Newman gets 1st or 2nd round draft capital, this is where to expect to draft him. Adams is another name to keep an eye on, too. At 6-3, 220, he has that prototypical “X” receiver build, and he really stands out on film, even if he is just beating up on lower level competition. It’s hard to tell where to rank him but he could be a sneaky late-round jackpot.
As there are only 60 slots, a number of guys had to be omitted. If I missed anyone glaring, let me know.
Edit (1/24/21, 3:08 pm): A commenter pointed out that Zamir White went back to school. I should have checked a couple extra sources. Everyone just shifts up one spot and 5.12 becomes Kylen Granson, TE, SMU.
Edit (1/24/21, 6:47 pm): It turns out CJ Verdell has also returned to school. This one was much more recent (2 days ago) and fell under my radar. Again, everyone shifts up one spot and the new 5.12 is Jaelon Darden, WR, North Texas.
You can find me on Twitter @thedevydirtbag and here on Reddit u/thedevydirtbag.
Another mock will be on its way closer to the draft. The plan is for that one to be in the form of a YouTube video. If you want to compare this mock to the one from early December, you can find that here: https://www.reddit.com/DynastyFF/comments/k97ltz/2021_rookie_mock_draft/

2. Introduction

Once again, I am making this guide from my own experience. I will do my best to post as much as I can, but I can't promise everything. I will update as much as possible. I will put a strike through anything that I originally say but turns out to be different. I will post an update and when in bold. That said, I will do my best.
If you are looking for the Rimac DS event on Switch, I made a guide for it last year, and it should be the same. Here is the link IMPORTANT POINT: According to other players on Switch, the event is NOT the same as my previous guide. It appears to be more P2W. So, use it more as a guideline rather than completely accurate. Sorry :/

3. First off, key differences and other key points (Important)(Updated 12/22)!

4. Should I always aim for Hazard Level 3? Or is level 2/1 okay?

Easy tl;dr: For cars you don't already have, keeping it two stars BELOW MAX is the most effecient! ALWAYS do the level 3 races if you already have it pretty high. (At least for cars so far). THIS IS ASSUMING THESE CARS WON'T NEED TO BE FULLY STARRED LATER ON.
Slightly more detailed tl;dr: Depends on your end goal/what you have. If you already have a lot of BP for many cars, do the level 3 races only. And if you get lucky on the rolls. If you don't think you can fully staupgrade your car, you can do the lower ones, but will get significantly less SC. If you already have the car fully starred, or close to fully starred, definitely do the level 3 ones. Otherwise, star it to two stars below max.
Now the math. Basically, the ratio for level 3 is roughly 2:1. For level 2, about 5-6:1. For level 1, about 6-7:1. So if you double the number of races at level 2 rather than level 3, reaching the same amount of SP, you will still have less SC.
Here is a spreadsheet of all the details
One extra thing, u/LordMadPunt made a decent point: "You can eke out a few extra SPs with this rule (also from the previous DS): Always use the highest hazard level that does not complete the mission. If completing the mission is unavoidable, use the highest hazard level for that." This is a good point to get just a little extra from the missions. However, if the SP will be the same (as seen in the last line of my spreadsheet), level 3 is still best.

But what if you don't want to/can't upgrade your car all the way?

I did the math on that for in both Lightspeed Chase and Among Skyscrapers. Whatever you do, you will need BMW I8 Roadster at at least 2*, fully upgraded. To get to 4*, you will need 75 BP. The drop rate for the packs is 20%. Using just this, lets say it would take about 32 rolls, or 160,000 SC, then buy all 10 of the individual BP (much cheaper), for 14,500 SC. Total, 174,500.
But that is a pretty crappy situation, because it doesn't take into account the guaranteed drops. I found that I got on average about 2.7 per roll. 75 BP - 10 individual BP = 65 BP / 2.7 = about 24 rolls. 24x5000 = 120,000 + 14,500 for the individual BP, 134,500 SC. Still a lot. But again, it depends on your luck.
What do you get by fully starring? For 3*, 10000 SC in pinned missions, and for 4* 20000 SC. Then take into mind the losses in not doing the hazard level 3 and then 2. I didn't calculate this when I originally did it, but from my own guesses from my other calculations. Let's say even liberally, (can someone confirm?) another 20000 SC lost.
In total, this is 50,000 SC you can get from having a fully starred.
This is no where close to the amount spent. Even from my more realistic, better chance roll, that is still 134,500 - 50,000 = 84,500 extra you will have to pay.
In short, you will get to keep more SC by only starring up BMW I8 Roadster to 2\. Even if my math is off a bit, still a much better deal! I 4\ it all the way, and I personally really like it, but it seems like it is not needed.
What about the Arrinera Hussarya 33? Whatever you do, you will need Arrinera Hussarya 33 at at least 3*, fully upgraded. To get to 5*, you will need 63 BP.
Using the above rate, you will need to roll 20 times for 53 BP, (150,000 SC) plus all 10 individual BP (22,000ish?), which is 172,000. What do you miss? 50,000 in pinned missions, and to my calculations, about another 50,000 in Hazard 3 missions. 172,000 - 100,000 = 72,000 extra needed to fully star.
Key point! This is assuming you have no BP of the Arrinera Hussarya 33 at the beginning of the event. Fewer BP are needed obviously, so it costs less to fully star. I had the Arrinera Hussarya 33 already fully starred, so it makes sense to fully star and do the level 3 races if you have it already or are close.
Conclusion? If you don't start with the car fully starred or close to it, don't spend the SC to do it unless you get lucky with a higher drop rate or luck with jackpots. Unless of course you like that car and want to fully star it :P
Even if my estimations for SC earned from level 3 races is way off, it still isn't worth it if you start from zero on that car*.*

5. Should I buy SC with tokens in the shop?

Easy answer, yes, at least the first 2 or 3. I personally bought the first two (totaling 50,000SC) at the beginning, as that was what I needed last year. Once I needed to star up the I8 Roadster, I didn't quite have enough SC to star it up without buying any. You might get lucky, but it is Gameloft. Then, when I got to Lightspeed Chase III, I needed more, so the first purchase was definitely needed. When I started Lightspeed IV, I had no choice but to buy the third pack (50,000)

6. About "PINNED MISSIONS" for extra SC

7. Tricks for getting more Syndicate coins

There are a few little tricks to get the most Syndicate coins as possible. u/dragom7 made a great page with details you can find here. I have tested it myself, and it works! Especially the intentional losing of a match (thanks also u/neverchurningbutter!). Go for the lowest ratio in this spreadsheet, and thanks to u/dragom7's suggestion, I highlighted the races with the best and worse ratios (starting from Twilight Getaway). Just be careful, the way I wrote ratios and the way he did are different!
Also, as mentioned in other areas, if Syndicate Coins is a priority, be sure to NOT upgrade your cars all the way.
(Update 12/24) Also also, some level 2 hazard races have a ratio worse than some level 1s, so check out this spreadsheet to find out what has the best ratios are.
(Update 12/24) If you are REALLY pushing to get the most SC (and you have the time to watch extra ads), intentionally lose frequently if the ratio isn't good. In theory, you could get a lot more if you only played the ones with good ratios. It would just take a long time....

8. Desert Disaster

This one is very straight forward. It does not take any Hazard Level during the whole thing, most (all?) are just "Finish the race" goals. You get to used a maxed Rimac for free, and all the races are on the new Nevada track. It is pretty easy to get first if you are used to the track from A8 back in the day. New players may have a little trouble because THIS CAR IS FAAAASST. So heads up. But all in all, all four of these are pretty easy (including a special little surprise for the story at the end...)
*30 BP for the I8 Roadster is given as a reward at the end, unlocking it.*
You can get 10,000 SC from pinned missions.

9. Lightspeed Chase

The main races are done in San Francisco.
For the BMW I8 Roadster:
2* 23BP
3* 33BP
4* 42BP (Yes, 4* is needed this time around in order to get the Hazard Level 3 races as well as the pinned missions)
Total Credit cost was more than 1,500,000. A lot. Do the Daily credit events. I will try to record exactly how much for other cars.
One pack is 500 SC, (10-pack 5000 SC). Individual BP are available starting at 1000 SC, then 1100 SC, 1200 BP, etc., up to 10 BP.
Epic Card for BMW I8 Roadster: 27,778 SC (one also available from Milestones from MP 12/18-12/24) (Update, event over). Each additional epic costs 10% more (2778(?) more) each time you buy one.
In general, the courses aren't too bad. Unlike the previous event, you can't restart the game to change the options. Once you get to Lightspeed Chase II, two levels appear. At Lightspeed Chase III, three levels appear. DO NOT DO THE LOWER LEVEL ONES. ONLY THE LEVEL 3 ONES if you are trying to go all the way, as these give the best SC ratio. See #2 above for why this is no longer true.
As stated above, if your goal is to fully upgrade the BMW I8 Roadster, do so before unlocking Among Skyscrapers, as the purchasable BP and the Epic Parts will no longer be available. This means not finishing Lightspeed Chase V.
In Lightspeed Chase V, you will use the Bugatti La Voiture Noire, which will require upgrades to stage 1 (Yes, just stage one). HOWEVER this requires 4,600 SC for each of all four parts, a total of 17,400 SC. Keep this in mind while you play Lightspeed Chase.
The last stage also is a 1v1 race with a time of 1:49 to beat. Note that this is the first race with a time goal. You won't be able to beat the other racer, as the Green Lizard is supposed to have a superior ride at this point. The time itself, without any big mistakes, is not a big challange.
*30 BP for the Arrinera Hussarya 33 is given as a reward at the end.* It takes 35 BP (according to the wiki page) to unlock. You can get the remainder from the shop when Lightspeed V is completed.
At the end of Lightspeed Chase, I had about 55,000 SC (including the 150,000 SC bought with tokens) to get going on Among Skyscrapers.
Pinned Missions SC given:
Lightspeed Chase I: 10,000.Lightspeed Chase II: 10,000.Lightspeed Chase III: 10,000.Lightspeed Chase IV: 20,000

10. Among Skyscrapers

The main races are done in New York.
For the Arrinera Hussarya 33 (the wiki page):
1* 35BP (Yes, you will need 5 more BP than what is given as a reward)
2* 15BP
3* 21BP
4* 28BP
5* 35BP (Fully upgraded, but epic parts not needed)

One pack is 750 SC, (10-pack 7500 SC). Individual BP are available starting at 1500 SC. I don't know how much is goes up nor how many are available, as I already had this fully starred. If it is the same as the BMW, it will go up 10% after each one bought. *Someone hit me up and I will add it!
Epic Card for Arrinera Hussaryar 33: 41,667 SC. Each additional epic costs 10% more (4167 more) each time you buy one.
In general, the courses aren't too bad. Unlike the previous event, you can't restart the game to change the options. Once you get to Among Skyscrapers II, two levels appear. At Among Skyscrapers III, three levels appear. DO NOT DO THE LOWER LEVEL ONES if you have it at a high level already. ONLY THE LEVEL 3 ONES if you are trying to go all the way, as these give the best SC ratio. See 2.Should I always aim for hazard level 3? Or are level 1/2 okay? above for details as to why.
As stated above, if your goal is to fully upgrade the Arrinera Hussaryar 33, do so before finishing Among Skyscrapers VI, as the purchasable BP and the Epic Parts will no longer be available.
In Among Skyscrapers VI, you will use the Bugatti La Voiture Noire, which will require upgrades to stage 2 . This requires 7,500 SC each for all four parts, a total of 30,000 SC.
The last stage also is a 1v1 race with a time of 1:47 to beat. You won't be able to beat the other racer (I freakin 360 spinned him and he crashed at82% of the course, and he still won!), as the Green Lizard is supposed to have a superior ride at this point.
*30 BP for the Apex AP-0 is given as a reward at the end.* It takes 45 BP (according to the wiki page) to unlock. You can get the remainder from the shop when Among Skyscrapers VI is completed.
On a bit of a strange note, I had the absolute worse luck on the pinned missions in Among Skyscrapers III. The starting amount was always low and it took me FOREVER to get it maxed.
At the end of Among Skyscrapers, I had about 55,000 SC (including the 150,000 SC bought with tokens), to get going on Among Skyscrapers. But, I already had the Hussarya 33 fully starred. This seems pointless to point out since everyone will be at a different points/SC amounts depending on what cars they already have unlocked as well as what path they choose.
Pinned Missions SC given:
Among Skyscrapers I: 10,000.Among Skyscrapers II: 10,000.Among Skyscrapers III: 10,000.Among Skyscrapers IV: 20,000.Among Skyscrapers V: 30,000.

11. Twilight Getaway

The main races are done in Rome.
For the Apex AP-0 (the wiki page):
1* 45BP 2* 17BP 3* 23BP 4* 32BP 5* 45BP
Twilight Getaway I: Hazard 3 2626 (1*) Pinned Missions: 15,000 SC
Twilight Getaway II: Hazard 3 2926 (2*) Hazard 2 2626(1*) Pinned Missions: 15,000 SC
Twilight Getaway III: Hazard 3 3189 (3*) Hazard 2 2926 (2*) Hazard 1 2626(1*) Pinned Missions: 15,000 SC
Twilight Getaway IV: Hazard 3 3547 (4*) Hazard 2 3189 (3*) Hazard 1 2926(2*) Pinned Missions: 30,000 SC
Twilight Getaway V: Hazard 3 3810 (5*) Hazard 2 3547 (4*) Hazard 1 3189(3*) Pinned Missions: 45,000 SC
Twilight Getaway VI: Hazard 3 3980 (1*) LVN (INCLUDING IMPORT PARTS!)
One pack is 1250 SC, (10-pack 12500 SC). Individual BP are available starting at 2500 SC. I don't know how much is goes up nor how many are available, as I already had this fully starred. If it is the same as the BMW, it will go up 10% after each one bought. *Someone hit me up and I will add it!
Epic Card for Apex Ap-0 : 69,444 SC Each additional epic costs 10% more (6944 more) each time you buy one.
The difficulty has stepped up in this set, at least for me it felt that way. Be sure to play only Hazard level 3 missions through Twilight Getaway III if you can, as 3* Apex is REQUIRED to move on.
As stated above, if your goal is to fully upgrade the Apex AP-0, do so before finishing Twilight Getaway VI, as the purchasable BP and the Epic Parts will no longer be available.
In Twilight Getaway VI, you will use the Bugatti La Voiture Noire, which will require upgrades to stage 3 . This requires 12,000 SC each for all four parts, a total of 48,000 SC. This needs three import parts EACH, which are 18,000 SC each, for a total of 216,000!! (CONFIRMED 12/24)
The last stage also is a 1v1 race with a time of 1:46 to beat. You (probably) won't be able to beat the other racer, as the Green Lizard is supposed to have a superior ride at this point.
*30 BP for the Porsche 911 GT RS is given as a reward at the end.* It takes 55 BP (according to the wiki page) to unlock. You can get the remainder from the shop when Twilight Getaway VI is completed.

12. Burning Pursuit

The main races are done in Cairo.
*NOTE: This is the first section of the event that needs a 4* car to advance. Also, thanks a bunch to broius for info of parts beyond what I could get! Proof
For the Porsche 911 GT3 RS (the wiki page):
1* 55BP 2* 18BP 3* 24BP 4* 32BP 5* 47BP 6* 47BP
Burning Pursuit I: Hazard 3 2109 (1*) Pinned Missions: 20,000 SC

Burning Pursuit IV: Hazard 3 3285 (4*) Hazard 2 2806 (3*) Hazard 1 2458 (2*) Pinned Missions: 20,000 SC
Burning Pursuit V: Hazard 3 3677 (5*) Hazard 2 3285 (4*) Hazard 1 2806 (3*) Pinned Missions: 60,000 SC
Burning Pursuit VI: Hazard 3 3893 (6*) Hazard 2 3677 (5*) Hazard 1 3285 (4*) Pinned Missions: 100,000 SC
Burning Pursuit VII: Hazard 3 UNKNOWN. 4007 (2*) YUP YOU READ THAT RIGHT! YOU GOTTA STAR UP THIS THING! 45,000 SC for 10-pack, so probably around 900,000+ SC if you are lucky! Not to mention the upgrades themselves. I have yet to see a single person actually do it.
Here is a vid of a dude with 400,000 SC spending on the packs. Spoiler, he didn't get it.
One pack is 2000 SC, (10-pack 20000 SC). Individual BP are available starting at 4000 SC.
Epic Card for Porsche 911 GT3 RS : 111,111 SC Each additional epic costs 10% more (11,111 more) each time you buy one.
As stated above, if your goal is to fully upgrade the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, do so before finishing Burning Pursuit VII, as the purchasable BP and the Epic Parts will no longer be available (Update 1/3)If you are reading this, you won't be able to progress further, so take your time getting the epics if that is your goal.
(to be continued [edited] as I clear more/more becomes available if someone can actually get farther)
I really hope I can get all the way through the DS even :/ Won't happen, sadly...

Ended my gambling career (for now) on a high note - jackpot handpay to end 2020. My thoughts and ramblings as a now-retired gambler.

Warning: long rambling stories ahead. I am bored and waiting to get through my first day back at work since before Christmas. You've been warned!
I've been going to the casino pretty regularly for the past few years. Before that, I played occasionally. I exclusively play slots. I view it as a night out - first with friends back when I brought $50 and played penny denom minimum bet spins and prayed to win $20, and then eventually shifting my mindset to playing higher bets and denominations. I hit my first jackpot handpay a couple of years ago. I hit $3700 on a $27 bet on a Geisha machine. I've hit a few other jackpots here and there, culminating with my biggest jackpot ever this past summer. I hit $12K on a $50 bet on a Pompeii slot machine.
Well, the long story short is that I have fallen out of love with gambling. I have somehow managed to have a positive ROI on gambling. I track my withdrawls and win on a spreadsheet. To put it bluntly: I have been extremely lucky over the past few years. I know that slots are not a viable way to win money in the long run, so I made a decision a few months ago to "retire" from gambling at the end of 2020.
I went to my local casino last Wednesday. It just so happens when I hit a jackpot that I usually do it within the first half hour or so I'm at the casino. Well, it happened again. After going up $600 or so on another slot machine (I don't remember the name), I went to one of my most hated/favorite old school slots - Zeus dollar denomination. One of my worst moments in all of gambling was a few years ago. I got a bonus round on the Zeus dollar denomination on max bet of $45 a spin. I was BEYOND excited. I've seen Youtube videos where people have won tens of thousands of dollars in that exact scenario. Much to my shock, I won nothing. In that game, you don't win anything for triggering the bonus. So I actually *lost* $45 on getting the bonus. I cashed out and left immediately.
Anyway, last week I hit a modest $4500. It was exciting...but not as exciting as I thought it should be. I was cool, calm, and...detached. The wins didn't mean much to me, and the losses mean absolutely nothing. My wife and I are in the EXTREMELY fortunate position that losing $500 or so every week or two at the casino is affordable. I'm not ignorant to how lucky we are to be in this position.
After getting paid out, I played a bit longer. But that hand pay drove home the realization that I had a few months ago: it was time to stop gambling. If I can't get pumped about a big win like that, and if I'm not even phased a little bit by losing, it's just not worth gambling any more. I used to go for entertainment, but even now gambling doesn't provide that much.
As I sit now, I am up roughly $18K over three years of slots. Not bad, but not life changing. Enough that I bought my wife a Burberry and Louis Vuitton handbag on separate occasions. The rest if stashed in savings or in an investment account somewhere. But I am 100% committed to being done. At least for 2021, and probably longer.
If anyone is interested in hearing my thoughts on how to win...I don't have any insight to share. It's luck. I got lucky. I know I got lucky. The usual tropes about setting win and loss thresholds is good advice. Sometimes I chased payouts and hit them. Sometimes I chased and lost. But I managed to hit more than miss, and for that I'm lucky. And thankful.
Anyway. I don't have a major takeaway or anything. I don't have many people I can talk about this with in my personal life, so I figured I'd share a bit of my story here.
If you do gamble, please do so responsibly. Good luck, and try to have fun. If you're not having fun, it's probably not the right way to spend your time or money.
EDIT:
I just wanted to say to anyone who reads this in the future that I appreciate the nice responses and PMs from people. It's nice to share a positive experience with others! I sincerely hope that if any of you choose to play in the future, you choose to do so responsibly. Gambling can be a hugely problematic lifestyle for some people. Stay safe. (end of preaching here).
I also want to take a second to address some comments from some people about slots being skill based. This is 100% false. The concept of slots being skill based in any way is demonstrably untrue with three seconds of reasonable thinking. If we accept that there is a hypothetical slot game which is based on skill and not pure luck, what are the consequences of that? First of all, this information would leak out. There would be no way to contain it. If one person can solve the system, another an as well. Subsequently, someone would write a book on the subject. Think about all the poker and blackjack strategy books out there. These are games where skillful play can increase your odds of winning. Last I checked, there aren't any books or Supersytem-level analyses from prominent individuals willing to stake their names and reputations on publishing a "slot technique" book. There's a reason for this. And also - think about this: casinos still carry blackjack tables for a reason: they still have an edge to win. If there is a surefire way for individuals to win when playing slots, casinos would 100% for sure take these games out of circulation. Casinos are not in the business of giving away money. Any claim there is a foolproof way to win money playing slots does not make sense when critical thinking is applied to the circumstances.
Slots are not like card games. Finding and playing only games where there is a "must win by" progressive is not the same thing as skillful play. That's more akin to something like card counting in blackjack. Many people who design slot machines and engineer the software behind the scenes have posted on Reddit and elsewhere that wins are based on random number generators running behind every spin. There is literally no skill involved - you win or lose each spin based on pure random luck.
I am saying this because there are a number of people who come to this subreddit to look for ways to cheat the system and get easy money. I see posts like this fairly often, and I'm only browsing this subreddit occasionally. Gambling is not, and should not, be a way for anyone looking to make a quick buck. If you're looking to get an edge playing slots because you need to pay bills or make a quick buck, you are already in serious trouble. Do not buy into the delusion that you can get an edge or guarantee a win. People saying this are snake oil salesmen who do not care for you or your well-being.
Anyway. I'm going to stop monitoring this post. I'm still open to receiving PMs or messages, but I've had my fun with this so far. I could do with fewer trolls, but this is the internet. I knew what to expect. Bon chance, everyone!

Appreciation for Block B and everything they’ve done for Kpop Pt. 2– Discography and History

So this was all intended to go into my first post, buuuuuut that one wound up being all about the members haha
For the sake of convenience, I’ll be reposting my disclaimer from the last post: Disclaimer: I will not be commenting on any controversies aside from those that happened in 2012-2013 (Zico’s flood comment+their leaving Stardom). Any other controversies are not relevant to the current conversation. Just know that when it comes to BB’s (and specifically Zico’s) more insensitive actions, I do not condone them, but have chosen to believe they have grown as people and matured, and now know better.
Ok, so first, I just want to do a brief overview of how Block B’s history makes me admire them.
Block B debuted under Stardom Entertainment in 2011, with a debut track called Freeze. Freeze was immediately banned from Korean television before 10 pm and couldn’t be sold to anyone under the age of 19 for... being too sexy, apparently. Zico helped with the production of the album, which considering he was only 17-18 at the time of their debut is incredibly impressive.
Anyways, after Freeze, they kept trying to get their foot in the door but they kept getting stopped. All of their stuff was being deemed “too inappropriate”. Well, until they came out with NalinA in 2012. Although this song isn’t my favorite from them, I’ll always have a soft spot for it. Anyways, it was during their promotions of NalinA that they made perhaps their biggest mistake— or rather, Zico made it for them. During an interview in Thailand, recently after the floods that had swept through and left a lot of people in very bad positions, Zico basically said that all Block B had to give to them, the only aid they could offer, was money. Park Kyung leaned over and asked him how much he had. Zico responded with “7,000 won”, so roughly $6. (This is my understanding, though I have seen people claim that the interview was HORRIDLY mistranslated which made Zico look significantly worse)
This attracted a lot of hate— and it was a very insensitive joke, made by a kid who wasn’t thinking. Celebrities were making posts about it demanding apologies, and the general public was raging about it. And Block B DID release an apology— in fact, Zico shaved his head to show his remorse, and then... the group went dark. Although they issued an apology, people were still angry. A petition was passed around online calling for Zico to kill himself, and it garnered a disturbing amount of signatures. During this time, PO, the group’s maknae, suffered from severe anxiety over the hate Zico was getting and feared he might give in and kill himself. The whole group was put under a lot of strain.
Despite this, after a long period of uncertainty, JUST when things looked like they were over, Block B came back with their album Blockbuster, headed up by the title track Nililli Mambo. And by god did this song do well. It was their first big hit, and it was JUST what they needed.
But then, right when everything seemed to be going perfectly, Block B revealed that all seven of them together were suing their label, Stardom Entertainment! Why, you might ask? Because their label hadn’t paid them since debut! Despite the fact that they’d done tons of performances, appearances, interviews, etc., they didn’t get paid Jack shit for any of it! And to make matters worse, their CEO took off with 70 million won (over $50,000) that he’d collected from Block B’s parents. He then killed himself. Despite the seemingly obvious theft and withholding of payment, Block B lost the lawsuit. They knew they couldn’t stay under Stardom, though, so they negotiated a way out, managed to get the rights to all their songs, stage names, group names, etc, and shifted over to Seven Seasons.
Now Seven Seasons was a new label at the time. And by that I mean it was created FOR Block B. They were its only artist. Which meant that they were BROKE. They still had to come out with music, but they had no money. So, they did everything themselves. Zico and Kyung wrote, composed and produced their songs, U-Kwon and B-Bomb did choreography, PO and Taeil helped with styling, and all their parents provided as much money and clothing as they could spare. It was promoted through their social media. They came back with Be The Light, which talked about the lawsuit, and had an interesting ending...
...which turned out to be the beginning of Very Good, their second smash hit! This was the song that got me into Block B. Shit SLAPS, but more on that later. From there, things only got better. Zico really hit his stride with music, and they came out with Jackpot next. Hit after hit. Toy was their biggest release, which they then followed by a Park Kyung single Yesterday, which swept the charts.
During all this, Park Kyung and Zico had stepped out and started solo careers, and PO, U-Kwon and B-Bomb were put into the subunit, Block B Bastarz (won’t be talking about them much but their stuff slaps, pls go check it out it’s literally so good). In 2017, they all got BACK together for Shall We Dance, and in 2018 they got together to make Don’t Leave, which was promptly followed by Zico leaving Seven Seasons lmao.
The other members re-signed with Seven Seasons, but Zico stepped out on his own. He and the other members were adamant that they were still a 7-man group, but without Zico in the company anymore they couldn’t really do much. Disbandment wasn’t even mentioned. Around this time, Jaehyo and Taeil left for the military. Jaehyo was discharged early due to an injury, and Taeil just finished his enlistment a few days ago. Atm, B-Bomb (136 days), U-Kwon (344 days), Park Kyung (493 days), and Zico (503 days) are all currently serving their time in the military. PO has not yet enlisted.
Now then, on to their music!
Nililli Mambo: This song’s MV is making fun of Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as taking influences from One Piece (the guys are all huge anime fans). You see these seemingly hardened, badass gangsters running around protecting this diamond, right? And they seem cool and seasoned... until you realize that it’s a comedy. Kyung chases a chicken with a frying pan, U-Kwon fires a blank and gets beat up because he was so busy spinning the gun and trying to look cool that he forgot to load it, Zico loses the diamonds, you get the idea. They’re actually terrible at being gangsters. The lyrics from what I could see were mostly talking about how they were finally back and the song is cool and catchy (which is pretty funny ngl). The sped up talking at the end is a pasta recipe. Musically, it’s literally a whole movie-soundtrack-worthy orchestra with a beat and some rap slapped on top, and it’s composed in a way so that their vocals are used LIKE instruments. Very cool.
Very Good: This song’s MV is obviously a parody of The Dark Knight, but it’s also making fun of groups that try too hard to be edgy and dark and weird by... being WAY too edgy and dark and weird. Super fun song to listen to, pretty decent line distribution for the most part, and we see PO in lipstick. Also Jaehyo has a bonding moment with some random lady. My favorite part is the end when they’re all just going crazy in a room with all the extras and background dancers, because if you pause it you can see the guys laughing at each other, and the dancers’ faces just tell me that they did NOT know what they were signing up for lmao.
Jackpot: Probably my favorite Block B song. The song is taking a jab at how predatory the Kpop industry is, basically just saying how even if you work hard it all means nothing because success is a total gamble— lucky for you, you hit the jackpot and made it, but you’d better shake hands with those who got you there or it’ll fuck you over. The MV adds a whole other layer to it, with these crazy clowns taking a perfectly normal kid into their circus, changing her appearance, lecturing her on how all of it is a gamble, turning her into exactly what they wanted her to be, and then being surprised when it doesn’t turn out well for them. The Behind Ver. of this MV is also my favorite thing tbh. You see the behind the scenes outtakes and weirdness of the beginning scene (U-Kwon puts a lemon in his mouth and questions his existence, Zico nearly makes out with a mannequin and almost knocks over the couch, B-Bomb pretends to eat a feather duster, and Kyung appears to be exercising), as well as showing B-Bomb, Jaehyo and Taeil fending off a guy U-Kwon beat at gambling with two chairs and a lamp. It’s beautiful. Musically it’s a masterpiece, with each part of it being inspired by a different era of jazz, and the change up going into the chorus? Legendary.
HER: Now when I first saw and heard this song I thought it was just a cute concept and nothing more. But when you actually look at the MV, their makeup is WAY overdone, the colors are ridiculously oversaturated, and Zico starts rapping with an ostrich while Jaehyo kisses a golf ball and they all jump on a golf cart. Taeil is also put into a shopping cart and has to dance. In the mid-section in the MV, Zico hits us with the iconic “Zico Zico Nii~!”, but if you know anime you know why he chose THAT. In Love Live, the character Nico that says “Nico Nico Nii!” Does so to mock/copy the “ideal high school cute idol”, not to convey that she IS it. So basically, Block B made an entire song taking jabs at all the other groups who were making brightly colored, generic poppy love songs and we all just thought it was another brightly colored, generic poppy love song. Musically it’s super fun, including clapping and singing as instrumentals, incorporating some incredible rap, and taking advantage of Taeil’s higher vocal register and wider range to make harmonies.
Yesterday: Like I said in my other post, this is Friends but Kpop and nobody can change my mind. Some of the beginning scenes in the MV are the cutest things ever and you can tell they’re having a good time, and B-Bomb SLAYS on the bridge. Also PO’s rap in this is my favorite thing. It’s so good.
BONUS: Bastarz - Make It Rain: This is my favorite Bastarz song so I’m including it because I’d go nuts otherwise. This song is about sex, guys. Like there’s no way around it, it’s about getting drunk and having sex. As several of Bastarz’s songs are. HOWEVER, you would not know that if you only watched the MV, which is one of my favorite MVs in Kpop. Yes it’s weird and trippy and there are mediocre special effects, but goddamnit if I can’t enjoy three dudes laying in garbage, gambling, aggressively talking on the phone, and singing karaoke while probably on drugs, then witness them get kidnapped and experience Armageddon only for it to all be fake, then why am I even here? The song slaps, and all three of their parts are perfect. They all suit their parts really well and none of them could’ve done the others’ parts better. PO’s rapping is immaculate* in this song, U-Kwon’s more nasally tone works flawlessly for the cocky, confident character he plays in the MV, and B-Bomb’s falsetto prechorus and bridge give me life. Literally my favorite bridge in Kpop.
Those are the only songs I’m gonna go into for now, since if I did their b-sides and some of their less popular title tracks we’d be here all day!
Lastly I just want to talk about their stage presence. When I got into Block B, I knew nothing about them but their scandals. I had a very negative perception of them. And then I accidentally saw a clip of them performing Very Good and it was like a switch was flipped. They are incredible performers. Oh my god. Their stage presence is insane, and dare I say unrivaled. They completely own the space, no matter how big or small. You can tell they’re having a great time performing, and they usually perform live. How can I tell? Well, they perform OVER a backing track, and even mnet didn’t even bother to mix them together. When they do fully lipsync they make it very clear. But then you hear them perform live, and you remember that oh, right, they sound exactly the same!
Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed my deep dive into appreciating Block B. I probably won’t be doing any more of these, unless anyone brings up something I haven’t talked about yet. Byebye!

Banner Review: WC Ace, BB Rem & SS Machina (Final Fantasy Type-0)

A pleasant sunday to you. I'm a day late due to a real crime: A friend of mine planning their party on a friday instead of a saturday. And well, as it had to be, I got a decent hangover and wasn't able to concentrate on writing properly. This week we got ourselves revamps of the earlier base 5* units and a fantastic free unit in Machina, which I'll also review. Normally I do not review most free units, but Machina is on meta level despite being free and has some awesome merrits. Thus he shall be reviewed.
Other than that I hope you enjoy the review! See you on the other side. SPOILER: This is quite a long post.
PS: After having to take a break from writing due to other plans, I sadly have to continue this on the next day. My sincerest apologies, but at 11:30 PM after a long day it does become hard to keep on writing without sounding like your tired grandfather. I hope nobody will be bothered for the additional delay to the delay for some more quality. This review easily took 6 hours.
Generally, if you feel like something is lacking or changed, I'd appreciate your feedback :).

Banner Review: CG Ace WC Ace, BB Rem RemV2 & SS Machina MachinaV2 by Memel0rd

CG Ace Wild Card Ace:

Trust Master Reward : Wild Card (Throwing Weapon) - 44 ATK, 144 MAG, +20% MAG, 25% demon / machina killer
STMR : Vermilion Flag (Accessory) - 60 MAG, 50 SPR, MAG/SPR Break immunity

Overview:

First up is Ace and I'm glad they gave him the name Wild Card. I remember back then when Ace came out, he didn't receive a lot of attention. A friend of mine and I tried to convince some others that, the way Wild Card worked, he could be a competent damage dealer on par with Dark Fina, but sadly nobody calced units back. Even back then, Ace had the first magic ability that works like physical attacks.
Stat-wise WC Ace is very frail due to his low base HP and low base DEF. His MAG is really high and he also has high SPR. In terms of innate bulk, 60% HP and 40% DEF really isn't looking hot at all, but luckily through 80% SPR, innate MTDW and the newly added TMR from BB Rem turns WC Ace in a decently tanky mage. He also has 40% phys evasion and 50% magic evasion, thus really REALLY good chances to just ignore it. Additionally, he has a Guts passive that locks at 5% HP, thus, with an external guts materia or accessory, can technically survive two fatal attacks in one turn. With his own TMR, WC Ace has a total 220% MAG as well as 100% MTDW. With only TMRs he won't be able to hit the MTDW cap, but get pretty close. He also has an innate 150% demon / machina killer (175% with TMR), which is really good. In the current DV not too hot for the demon killer part and against the boss I also wouldn't use him due to the super high SPR. But later on you'll see why you still might want to use him. With Confusion, paralyze, blind and stop resistance, he's decently prepared against a lot of the fights. Blind immunity will actually be important.
WC Ace can W-/T-Cast all of his abilities and has a few neat supportive capabilities, setting him apart from our usual meta mages. He can also use any party esper, though on a damage dealer that often isn't the best call to make.
Firstly, ALL of his magic damage acts like physical attacks. This means that they will proc physical resistance on bosses and potentially bypass magic resistance. But more importantly, this means Ace will benefit from weapon elements, imbues AND physical killers, making damage gains far more accessable compared to mages. Killers in some regards aren't as bad anymore, but imbues / weapon elements mean that Ace is not restricted to any element. This is already a huge boost over all other mages in DV who can only work when matching against their own preferences.
Talking about imbues, WC Ace can self-imbue himself with Spark or Freeze Card for 6 turns while chaining and imperilling, though his on-demand chains will also imperil.
In terms of support, Ace can keep up chains, even though weak, while either negating the next incoming spell such as Dispelga or Meteor through Blind Stud, or apply a mirage stack on your whole party through Support Hand+. Both are awesome to have at any time.
This isn't where it stops as he can gradually improve on his HP Charge / MP Charge abilities. They start out as ST HP or MP recovers and use after use unlock better versions such as Giga HP / MP Charge up to Peta Charges after a total of 4 turns. Once you use the final version once, you'll unlock them until death. After the second tier, Giga Charges, the effects will be AoE. While MP Charge isn't that great with only an AoE 80 MP recover, HP Charge at the final stage can be handy due to chaining for decent amounts of damage while applying an AoE 20% Reraise, a self 5000 HP barrier and an okay-ish heal on the next turn.
Short Burst+ works in the same fashion as HP / MP Charge but is used to apply 100% AoE Stops. Sounds nice for arena but won't be available until your third turn, which is way too slow for the Arena.
But for on-demand chaining, Burst+ / Burst++ will also have the same upgrade system. The only difference between those two abilities is the family, either CWA or BS. We're using the BS chain in the rotation due to slightly higher chain values.
The way it works, it starts out as a 5300% chain while also imperilling both lightning and ice by 100%. Then on the next turn, Tera Burst has the same imperil but a 5500% chain. Then Peta Burst 110% imperil + 6000% mod BUT for fire as well and lastly Exa Burst with the triple 120% imperil and a 6500% modifier. So even starting out, the difference in modifiers isn't that big of a deal. If Ace died, you don't receive a major penalty.
And even if you lost everything, at Turn 7 you can receive ALL final versions of all the graduating abilities that I've just described. Once you use them, they'll stay permanently. If the fight lasts long enough, the additional support might net you the win or if you died on Turn 6 you can easily get all the progress back.
For offensive capabilities, Jackpot Triad, which is available at Turn 4, is a slightly stronger chain at 7000% while Attack Hand+, available at Turn 1 with a 3 turn cooldown, provides an undispellable and 100% uptime 250% MAG buff.
Do you remember the 7* versions of the Type-0 units? Do you remember 7 star Nyx? WC Ace takes both ideas and turns it into a way better version. He can still sacrifice himself to fill your entire evocation gauge, but with a twist. This time, he also fills 40 LB crysts for your entire party! Basically a strong AoE entrust. Not on the same level as Emperor Foo, but he fulfills a different role. Now sadly any sort of Reraise will be self-dispelled upon using it, so you gotta immediately revive him.
Every 7 turns Ace can also redirect all ST attacks to one ally for one turn. I'm not sure how particularly useful that'll be as if you do want to tank something, you likely bring a ST provoker anyway and the units who do redirect attacks onto themselves, such as Doctor Aiden, also have mirage mechanics built in.
His Limit Burst despite having a massive 7200% base modifier and the luxury of being filled right at the start due to Ace being a CG unit lacks LB damage. He doesn't surpass Elly's LB damage unless you have an external 50% LB damage buff. This assumes you do have an open materia slot for killers. For Turn 1 shenanigans his Limit Burst is still very useful due to being a way higher burst than his usual Turn 1 allows. In terms of burst, it is also only slightly better than his highest burst turn and would deal less damage overall due to the loss in MAG and the loss in potential killer materias over LB damage.

How does he fare in the meta?

WC Ace easily takes the throne in average damage in comparison to all of our other options.
Not only damage wise does he exceed, in every other imaginable way except for burst he's better. His bulkiness due to BB Rem's TMR is almost on par with DS Sol's while still having his guts passive and really high evasion stats. Then, on top of that, in comparison to every other meta mage that's listed in his damage calcs, he can swap his element by choice. Either through imbues or equips. He can also equip physical killers, which grants him yet another edge over others.
Despite having less burst than Physalis, I'd still rate him way above her for Dark Visions simply because he isn't only good in a few stages but potentially in every stage. Well, those where you'd want to use mages anyway, if the enemy has 6000 SPR but only 600 DEF then yeah, no.
In Dark Visions his Limit Burst can be a really good source of magic damage as finishing for every element you want, but without the use of an external LB damage buffer, his damage is subpar to Elly's LB. And using an LB damage buffer would "sacrifice" a slot to make WC Ace slightly stronger, which could've been filled up more efficiently.
In the future there are better LB damage buffers such as Pone or Ambie to bump WC Ace up in Dark Visions even further.
Even then, he has a really cool kit idea that works well and always having a mirage ability available is neatoo. The spell absorption is niche but when it can be useful it can easily save up an action of another unit who'd have to use it via an event materia.
The TMR itself isn't that great since many mages can't equip throwing weapons and even then it has significantly less base MAG than the other rods / the Dark Visions rod, but on Ac himself gives himself yet another 20% MAG for a total 40% as well as 50% bonus esper stats, which do make up for it. His STMR I don't think is that desireable. It has 60 MAG and 50 SPR, which is good if your mage can't tank the incoming magic attack and you don't want to sacrifice MAG, but the MAG/SPR break immunity is... eh. Breaks only decrease your base stats and outside of ambushes can easily be prevented by using proper buffs.

Overview:

Back then Rem and Ace were probably one of my favourite units in the game despite me never having even touched Type-0. I'm very glad the Type-0 units are keeping me interested with actually cool kits!
BB Rem is back and has very similar base stats to WC Ace with the only except being that her pot stats don't focus on MAG but on MP. Back then it wasn't the worst, but generally focusing on MP is almost always suboptimal. With 230% innate MAG and an innate 125% MTDW as well as two more copies of her own TMR, she can almost reach the MTDW cap. Unlike WC Ace though, she has an ... ace up her sleeve. Rem has the 6x chain cap! Wooo. This definitely makes up the difference in MAG. Her own bulk is also pretty good, especially with three of her TMRs. Innately she has 120% SPR with 70% HP and 40% DEF. Again, the DEF department is lacking but that's not unusual for mages. At least she also has a guts passive. BB Rem definitely has worse resistances compared to WC Ace with poison, silence and stop. But hey, she has that 150% demon / machine killer.
BB Rem can W-/T-Cast all of her abilities and has a few note worthy abilities outside of her main rotation that might see some use. She can also use any party esper, though on a damage dealer that often isn't the best call to make.
For one, she has her old Healing Prayer back to cure all status ailments. This time around it has a higher mod but status ailment curing isn't nearly as important as it was back then but to be fair, despite also having Dualcast for Curaja and Reraise, she isn't a healer nor a true red mage. Though if you have some pesky boss imbues on you, for example dark, an element that he'd absorb, you can self-dispel your entire party, too, to get rid of these.
More interestingly is that BB Rem can spend 20 LB crysts, which she doesn't really need, to recover your party's MP by 200. If we ever get a nasty MP drain boss again then she can still recover MP without spending MP. She can also act as an MP battery, though that's mostly not required and since she is a damage dealer would rather have someone else do the job.
If you are using Rem without the assistance of MM Xon, you get the pleasure of having AoE 30% demon / machine killer buffs at disposal. WC Ace had them, too, with even higher numbers but as self-buffs. After using her Accelerate CD ability, the buffs go up to 50% and since they last 3 turns can easily be used in Dark Visions.
In terms of chaining, BB Rem does have access to CWA chains through her imbues and Dagger Boomerang, but you'll mostly use them when requiring AoE damage as the modifier of Dagger Boomerang is significantly lower. Also, the three AoE imbues for fire, ice and lightning don't work as physical attacks while all the other ones do.
She has the same set of self-imbues as Bolting Strike chains, which will count for all following ones, while imperilling by 90% and the imbue also lasts 2 turns longer than the prior options for a total of 6 turns. Having three different self imbues allows for easy element swapping if needed and requires less external set up as many elemental magic weapons usually lack MAG stats.
Instead of Dagger Boomerang, BB Rem's new on-demand chain is Flying Daggers+, which has a 4300% modifier by itself and after using Accelerate turns into a 4700% chain. Not the biggest increase but at least that means that she will barely lose out on any damage upon dying.
Two of her abilities match WC Ace's almost entirely. Almost.
Just like Ace, she has a self-sacrifice CD abilities with the same effects, too, but a shorter cooldown. Instead of having to wait 6 turns, you can cast it after 4 turns. That might enable some niche set ups-
Accelerate also has the same MAG buff, the same cooldowns and almost the same damage as Ace's Attack Hand+ with only less modifiers. Thus we'll use it every time we can since it also upgrades Flying Daggers+ Slightly.
To still give BB Rem some red mage vibes, she gains some really good utility via her CD ability Live On. Available at Turn 1 with a 4 turn cooldown, Rem can patch up team compositions including AWoL, enemy dispels or grant a neat headstart from your mage. Especially with two copies you could technically maintain the following buffs. All of the buffs last 2 turns, including a 50% mitigation, a super strong regen that heals over 6000 HP per turn and a 100% HP Reraise. If you actually do use two Rems, without any deaths or dispels, the regen and the mitigation can be kept up and might allow your tanks to focus more on support chaining or for some of the older tanks to keep up with trials if you got unlucky.
Her last CD ability shares the same cooldowns with Live on and her self-sacrifice while being used to imperil and up your damage at the same time! Triple 120% imperil for her three elements and a 6000% modifier? Yes and yes! The imperil effectively lasts 5 turns, so even if you miss out on it for one turn, it's not the biggest deal.
If the dispel does run out, you could use her Limit Burst alternatively as it re-applies the triple imperil while having an innate 9000% modifier (including her passives), but outside of that won't see much use. She doesn't get her LB for free unlike WC Ace, so no easy Turn 1 strats with it, and the modifer as well as her MAG is lower than Ace's.

How does she fare in the meta?

BB Rem is extremely close to Wild Card Ace for the simple reason of having the 6x chain cap. Despite having way less modifiers and less MAG. That shows how much of a difference the 6x chain cap really makes.
Outside of that, BB Rem can also perfectly chain with another WC Ace copy at any point in the fight for having on-demand CWA chains with Dagger Boomerang and on-demand Bolting Strike chains on her Flying Dagger+, making WC Ace much easier to use in Dark Visions. The best thing about it? Their damage is almost identical. WC Ace starts out slightly slower but has higher damage peaks while BB Rem is a lot more consistent.
In terms of bulk, BB Rem offers more stats but only slightly more while missing the 40% phys / 50% mag evasion, but in return has some awesome support in her kit. Her 50% mitigation might be able to save you up slots in a few Dark Vision areas and in trials while running a dupe or having a (busy) tank who can't (re) apply the damage mitigation can always help out. Remember, she's your damage dealer, having that kind of regen and mitigation on a damage dealer is always a huge pro.
All the other pros listed on Ace's meta comparison also apply for her as her abilities used in the rotation all act as physical abilities, meaning she can potentially utilise every element in the game and gear for physical killers, which grants more killers from almost all espers and more easily accessable ones to equip.
BB Rem's TMR is so amazing but puts the TMR mage builds in a very awkward spot. It can stack with itself, which is almost a phenomenon in GL for good TMR materias and boosts HP by 10%, 30% MAG/SPR and 25% MTDW. This means we got ourselves our first source of MTDW in TMR form. As a materia. Excluding the killer slot, this means all mages have way better MTDW potential now while gaining bulk, too. It's absolutely worth using a moogle container for as three copies of her TMR aren't exactly easy to get. Her STMR is a bit harder to rate. It's a dagger with a high 171 MAG and 120 SPR that also allows Dual-Wield and 100% LB fillrate. Here's the thing though: Even though many mages can equip Daggers, those who do go for MTDW often already have innate Dual-Wield. And if they don't, Four Winds Physalis' TMR already gives DW and 50% MAG. And the dagger can't have the 20% MAG rare ability from Item World. I'd personally use it for the 120 SPR, but it's very likely not going to be part of a BiS build due to lower potential MAG passives. It's good but I wouldn't STMR moogle it nor chase for it.

MachinaV2 Steadfast Soldier Machina:

Trust Master Reward : Lævateinn (Sword) - 151 ATK, 30% MP, Enable Dual-Wield
STMR : Pluviale (Clothes) - 33 ATK, 38 DEF, 44 SPR, 50% ATK w/ Swords

Overview:

Now, for the gem of the banner: the free unit! I also don't like having to write SS Machina. So we'll keep it to Machina, hope that's okay.
Machina's base stats are surprisingly good with high HP, high DEF and high ATK, and again, for a free unit, can get to surprisingly high stats when fully geared. His innate bulk on top of being a TDW unit is great. An innate 70% HP, 140% DEF and 60% SPR can definitely be worked with. In return, his offensive passives are severely lacking in comparison with only 140% ATK and 50% TDW, but he does get the 6x chain cap. If you've build an esper up to max, for example Asura, Machina benefits from that a lot as he receives double bonus esper stats. Thus he gets a ton of free extra bulk, e.g. Asura with little trouble can give him +150 DEF/SPR. He's resistant against poison, blind, disease and confusion, which isn't the worst but poison and disease resistance aren't that useful. You'd much rather want sleep and petrification. Or paralyze. The 50% demon / machine killer won't do a whole lot since he doesn't deal the highest damage, but why not.
Machina can W-/T-Cast all of his abilities. This is extremely important as he has some awesome stuff. Unlike WC Ace and BB Rem, him being able to use all party espers can be beneficial for using e.g. Fenrir for the AoE Mirage, Golem for an AoE 70% phys mitigation or if needed, Lakshmi for an AoE heal. Depending on how you use Machina, he can have a free turn occasionally.
While Machina has poor average damage in comparison to other meta damage dealers, it doesn't hurt to gear him for high ATK as he gets a lot of natural bulk and once every 5 turns can deal actually good damage. Through his CD Ability, L'Cie's Duty, he can buff his own ATK by 300%, the modifier of all of his chains by 2000% and chains with a 3000% chain. Combined with Fear Slash, which will end up with a 4000% modifier, you can have a total 11000% modifier on a turn with 6x chain cap and a 300% ATK buff, thus making him actually contribute to burst damage decently. You can also imbue Machina with fire or lightning innately for 2 turns to prepare for the burst.
Now, more importantly, Machina is an amazing free unit as a breaker for various reasons.
As his original version, he is all about the chaining and breaking at the same time and he does that way better now.
All of his chains are Bolting Strike chains, matching well with the other two banner units but can also be used nicely alongside MM Xon as he also has T-Cast.
Machina has on-demand 75% DEF/SPR or ATK/MAG break that last two turns and turn into 70% breaks afterwards. Due to the T-Cast they are extremely easy to maintain and thus should be seen as 75% fullbreaks. They are ST but, yet again, you can apply two ATK/MAG breaks on Turn 1 if facing more enemies or if you set up the T-Cast you can apply up to three, which often enough covers all mobs.
If you need to dispel and re-apply breaks, he can do that, too. One of his breaks dispels first, then applies a 70% fullbreak and then re-casts the fullbreak on the two next turns, but be careful not to accidentally dispel your own debuffs.
In the same territory as his breaks, Machina can imperil and chain at the same time with Elemental Weakning. At first you have an effective 2 turn 120% triple imperil for fire, ice and lightning, matching BB Rem well, and then transition into 100% imperils. Again, since you can set up T-Cast and have 2 turns, it's extremely easy to maintain them.
My personal favourite part about his kit is that Machina not only is super fast and easy to use, but has 3 turn AoE 30% phys or magic mitigations. They aren't uncommon at this point but having them available just like that does make him stand out from other breakers as Rikku doesn't have any mitigations, neither does DoD Vanille nor Kryla and Locke only has magic mitigation. He also buffs DEF/SPR by 150% and cures the responding breaks, but those stat buffs likely only see some use if you skip tanks / healers for easier Dark Vision stages for example. The phys mitigation buff provides ally counters, too, with a max of 3. Seeing as many tanks nowadays don't counter with normal hits anymore, the additional LB generation isn't bad.
Machina has the same self-sacrifice CD ability as Rem and seeing as he isn't a direct damage dealer and can definitely work around dying for a turn, having your breaker self sacrifice himself for an AoE 40 LB gauge fill can easily be built into a burst turn. Let's say you are just done with breaking and prepare for the burst: if you're using an LB unit such as AC Cloud, this will surely come in handy.
Lastly, in order to unlock T-Cast, Machina can either use his CD ability Awakening+, which is available at Turn 1 with a 4 turn cooldown or his Limit Burst. In both cases, the T-Cast will last 6 turns and thus can be super easily maintained through his CD ability alone. The additional 200% ATK buff makes his chains hit a bit harder, but isn't relevant for his main burst.
The Limit Burst itself should be used either for preparing burst damage or for protection against a strong threshold. Beside the 6 turn T-Cast enable, the Limit Burst also applies an AoE 80% fullbreak. This break sadly only lasts one turn and his LB with 32 crysts is too hard to maintain to use it every turn. Even then, it would hinder him to use his kit properly. Thus having the option of going even higher to Rikku level of breaks is great for thresholds or bursting.

How does he fare in the meta?

Frankly, for a free unit, Machina is extremely impressive. Even in comparison to the prior ones.
He has the bulk, he has the easiness of use and he sets himself apart from other current meta breakers by constantly chaining all the time, being fast and bringing damage mitigation. He can even act as an LB supporter similar to Nyx did back then, but well, it kills himself.
I wouldn't put him above Rikku as she does a lot, too, while providing chains, imbues, mirage stacks and higher breaks. I would place him higher than Locke though as Locke, to be fully efficient, requires you to utilise Graviga, which does eat up two actions: using the Graviga and healing the damage done to yourself.
So while Locke has potentially higher breaks, Machina does everything else better. He's faster, has better mitigations, chains more frequently and has T-Cast.
Honestly there is no reason to not grab him. Especially for the following:
Both his TMR and STMR for being free gear are amazing. His TMR is a worse version of his prior version's STMR, but only by a tiny bit. You have a 151 ATK sword that grants Dual-Wield. This is great for units that prefer Dual-Wield but don't have it innately, such as the good old Cid, though he's a tad outdated. While his STMR is an amazing free chest piece for any sword wielding unit. 33 ATK and 50% ATK is on the same level as a limited unit's STMR, Fayt, and matches even other STMR's ATK levels. Just like Quistis' STMR, no reason to not grab it.

Conclusion

This banner brought a nice, fresh wind. All of the units genuinely feel different from each other and bring uniqueness into the rather stale meta. Wild Card Ace and Benevolent Beauty Rem both set themselves apart from our traditional mages that we have seen for the past months by utilising their original selling points. Using physical attack mechanics is a lot more beneficial, though also means that they can't be used properly against enemies with high physical resistances vs low / none magic resistance, such as Wicked Moon. On the upside, they do not get cucked by facing a fire resistant enemy and having nothing but fire elemental attacks. Machina is a fast pace breaker with a ton of chain utility as well as damage mitigations with the potential to cast espers and being a strong LB support. All while being free. This banner is a great catch up for those who have been lacking a proper breaker and mage as both Ace and Rem have way higher average damage than all other current choices while gaining easy tankiness. Rem's TMR plays a big role in all TMR mage builds as well and thus will stick around. That's how damage dealer banners should be like, actual kits with interesting, unique flavours.

I hope you enjoyed, even though it was a longer review I am glad that we finally got something new!

Rebook Sami Zayn on the Main Roster | Part Two: Underdog From the Apex

(For mobile users)

SummerSlam 2016
In the fallout of Battleground, RAW & SD embark on their new eras, Monday Nights setting up an 8-Man Tournament that culminates at SummerSlam to crown the inaugural Universal Champion. The first round sees Kevin Owens defeat Cesaro, Finn Balor defeat Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins defeat Neville, and despite being knackered from the night before, Zayn is able to eke his way past Chris Jericho to advance. He isn’t so lucky the following week though, being paired up against Rollins, who attacks him before the match, capitalising on his injuries to leave him even worse for wear heading into their match, able to pin him for an easy, cheap victory.
Meanwhile, Balor’s ascension continues as he eliminates Owens, the Finals locked in place with Balor & Rollins scheduled to take on each other. However, due to being eliminated from the tournament in the fashion he was, Zayn pleads for a second chance, knowing he has what it takes, thus being granted a rematch against Rollins, in which if he wins, he’s added to the match to make it a Triple Threat! And so, the Architect and the U.F.T.U put on a stellar match the following week, Zayn channelling his underdog heart to pull through to the other end with the upset victory, the UV match now a 3-way!
Come SummerSlam, in the semi-main event of the night, Zayn, Rollins and Balor battle it out for the right to be crowned the inaugural UV Champ! The former IC Champ gets a strong showing throughout the bout, coming close to winning on multiple occasions and solidifying himself as a credible main event talent in the wake of his feud with Owens, finally able to display his talents to the fullest extent. However, no matter the heart and soul he pours into the match, a Coup de Grace from Balor puts him away whilst Rollins is laid out at ringside, unable to break the pinfall, thus crowning Balor the first-ever Universal Champion!

Clash of Champions 2016
Unfortunately, having sustained a shoulder injury at SS, Balor is forced to vacate the title like real life, meaning the search for a new World Champion begins once more. 4 Qualifying matches take place for a spot in the 4-Way Elimination match for the vacant title, one of those match-ups being Zayn vs Rollins, the two men clashing once again in a brilliant bout. As Zayn gets ready to nail his patented Helluva Kick and score the victory though, he’s distracted at ringside by CHRIS JERICHO, allowing Rollins to catch him with a Superkick/Pedigree combo to move on!
As a result of Jericho’s appearance, Y2J invites Zayn to come out to his show, Sami accepting, wanting some answers anyway, ready to raise his fist if need be. Jericho proceeds to run down Zayn, claiming he’s a disgrace to the Canadian name, getting lucky against a living legend like himself and not even going on to win the UV Title at SS. Before the same blunder could be made twice, Chris saved the day and made sure the right Canadian, his new partner Kevin Owens, became champ, and so he did.
Jericho tries to get a sneaky shot in on Zayn to pay him back for eliminating him, going for the Codebreaker, only for Zayn to turn it into an Exploder Suplex, Jericho leaving before Sami can nail the Helluva Kick! Showing him they have unfinished business, Zayn wrecks the Highlight Reel as a horrified Chris watches on, yelling at him to stop, until he finally gives in and pleads that they can have a match at Clash of Champions but just don’t destroy his million-dollar equipment. Seeing it to be a fair trade, Zayn accepts, the match made official for CoC!
It’s a very technical match-up between the Canadians at the PPV, Zayn looking to set-up for his patented Koji Clutch, whilst Jericho aims for the Walls of Jericho, even tossing in a momentary Liontamer and he looks to torture Sami! In the end, the crafty veteran goes to the well with one too many tricks, allowing Zayn to nail the Helluva Kick and score the victory over Jericho once more! Later in the night, the Ayatollah of Rock N’ Rolla appears during the main event to help Owens retain against Rollins, only for Zayn to also appear and chase him off, the distraction though allowing the Prizefighter to remain champion!

Hell in a Cell 2016
As if his issues with Owens were never to end, Zayn finds himself in the title race between Owens and Rollins, the newly-turned face Seth demanding a clean rematch for the belt, only for Sami to step in, stating that with the win he scored over Jericho, the man Owens seemingly replaced him with until he decides to get rid of him like everyone else (which gets uneasy looks from Chris), he believes he should also get a UV Title shot!
Whilst Zayn doesn’t immediately receive a shot, he sticks around as Owens and Rollins go at it again on RAW, this time with no Jericho or Zayn allowed at ringside, only for Jericho’s theme to play which distracts Rollins, causing him to fall victim to the Pop-Up Powerbomb! After the match, he’s beaten down 2-on-1 by Owens & Jericho, only for Zayn to make the save and help Rollins clear the ring of them! As Rollins turns to take a look at the UV Title left on the canvas, he realises it’s already in Zayn’s hands, the former IC Champ clearly not here for Rollins sake, but instead having his own interests at heart.
With the feud between the 4 men only continuing to heat up, Jericho’s interference proving to be an issue, a 3-way Hell in a Cell match is made between them for the title, made to keep Y2J out of the ring! However, Owens & Jericho complain about the decision, claiming that if he’s to be ganged up on by Zayn and Rollins, Jericho should at least be given a chance to be there in his corner, or better yet, in the ring with him. And so, a tag match is made between Zayn & Rollins and Owens & Jericho, the stip being that if the latter team wins, Jericho can be Special Guest Referee in the match! Through all the shenanigans in the world, Owens & co. pull away with the victory, allowing Jericho to don the stripes.
At HIAC, it quickly becomes clear that Zayn isn’t here to help Rollins fight the two off, but because of his own personal issues with Owens, the BG loss still stinging in the back of his mind, and now Owens beating him to the punch by winning a World Title first too thanks to interference from HHH not sitting right with him at all. Zayn and Owens bring their classic violence to the table whilst Rollins interjects with his own crazy spots and Jericho proves to be the master manipulator of the match, looking to screw Zayn & Rollins over as much as he can. In the end, as Zayn is tossed from the apron into the cage wall thanks to a 2-on-1 assault, Owens is able to pin Rollins after a Pop-Up Powerbomb to retain!

Survivor Series 2016
Not much changes here except that Zayn is chosen for the team instead of Jericho, which receives outrage from the former World Champ. Whilst not particularly in it for the Brand Warfare, he’s offered a rematch for the UV Title if he can be one of the team’s sole survivors, and also gets to have a few cool match snippets against the likes of Team SD’s AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose and Randy Orton during the inter-branded match itself.
At Survivor Series, Zayn makes it to a 3-on-2 stand-off against the Wyatt Family, Zayn going right after them due to them being behind his elimination in the Rumble at the beginning of the year, but a miscommunication from Rollins costs Zayn, leading to him to be pinned and eliminated from the match, his chance at another World Title shot wasted…

Roadblock: End of the Line 2016
Following the final Big 4 PPV of the year, Rollins comes out to demand one final shot at Owens, believing that with no shenanigans whatsoever, he can beat KO, but before the champ can come out to respond, he’s cut-off by Zayn! The Underdog From the Underground is clearly unhappy about what happened in the 5v5, Rollins costing Zayn the opportunity to challenge Kevin himself, and as he goes to approach the Architect about it, Seth tries to play it off like it’s water under the bridge, causing Zayn to let loose on the mic!
He claims that Rollins has been eating long enough, being handed opportunity after opportunity whilst Zayn had to scratch and claw his way to everything, Rollins becoming the first NXT Champion like that whilst Zayn had to put everything he loved on the line, Rollins becoming WWE Champion for 200+ days and yet still coming out here to demand more shots whilst Zayn is yet to reach said pinnacle he deserves to be at. He’s screwed Sami out of enough opportunities, now it’s time they put a stop to this with one more match to see who the better man is! Rollins acquiesces and the bout it made official for Roadblock!
Unlike prior encounters where there was a clear face-heel dynamic, Rollins attacking Zayn before their first match and trying to cheat in their second, this one has a lot more blurred lines, both men simply doing whatever it takes to outdo the other on the quest to becoming UV Champ. As Rollins teases putting Zayn away with his old Curb Stomp, he’s caught and reversed into an EXPLODER SUPLEX, a HELLUVA KICK following to put away the ex-Shield member on PPV!

Royal Rumble 2017
With a tough victory over Seth under his belt, Zayn continues on his journey to attain World Title success as he announces his entry into the Rumble, this time entering much earlier into the match, #8 being his position, which only one person has won from, giving him hope that he can become the second. Putting on an incredible Iron Man performance, Zayn lasts the longest out of anyone in the match as he clocks over 50 minutes, surpassing Jericho who gets eliminated a little earlier in the bout whilst picking up some big eliminations like Strowman, avenging the Monster Among Men eliminating him last year, allowing Zayn to make it to the Final 4 also including United States Champion Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton! He doesn’t let the star-power faze him, putting on quite the display after making it so far, but alas, he’s tossed over the ropes to the outside, unable to last any longer, his dreams of challenging UV Champ Owens at WM shattered…

Fastlane 2017
Whilst he didn’t walk out as the Rumble winner, his performance didn’t go unnoticed by his peers, namely the man who made it furthest for RAW, the US Champ himself, Roman Reigns. However, as much as he was impressed by Zayn, he isn’t one to hand out title shots willy-nilly, so if Zayn wants a crack at his gold, he’ll have to earn it first. Cue an angry Braun Strowman, who’s clearly not finished with Sami, the two men having issues with each other stemming from the 30-Man extravaganza.
Due to both men wanting to face Reigns, they’re put in a #1 Contender’s match against each other in which Zayn puts on a star-making David vs Goliath performance, getting Strowman over well but still walking out with his own hand raised in victory! As promised, the match between Zayn and Reigns for the US Title is made official for the final stop on the road to WM, Fastlane.
Whilst Reigns was in the main event last year, defeating Ambrose and Lesnar to earn a shot at the WWE Champ at WM, he’s here tonight taking on former IC Champ Zayn, who’s looking to make big on the opportunity and finally start turning things in his favour, rebounding from his unsuccessful World Title chase. At first, Reigns severely underestimates his foe, thinking if Cena could beat him the way he did, he should have no problem himself.
However, this Zayn is a much more evolved version of him, Zayn giving Reigns the type of fight Daniel Bryan gave him two years prior, leaving the Big Dog stunned! Nonetheless, Reigns goes for his patented Spear finisher to cap off the match, but he falls right into the Exploder Suplex/Helluva Kick trap, Zayn nailing a second one just for good measure, before scoring the 1…2…3! SAMI ZAYN IS THE NEW UNITED STATES CHAMPION! Much like Rollins, Reigns is taken aback by Sami’s victory, but ever the sportsman, he shows the new champ the deserved respect, giving him the big rub on his way to the apex.

WrestleMania 33
Back on top as a champion, Zayn could not be happier, making up for his multiple shortcomings the past few months by landing the jackpot. Bringing back an old classic, Zayn re-introduces the US Open Challenge, wanting to give others the same opportunity he once received courtesy of Cena. Multiple challengers step up, but the one leading the pack is the recently called-up Samoan Submission Machine, Samoa Joe! Hired as a mercenary by Triple H to take out Rollins, Joe turns his attention on choking out more souls and claiming gold, and what better place to start at then Zayn’s US Title?
Joe tears into Sami on the mic, bringing up their series of matches one year ago in NXT where Joe ended up as the ultimate victor between the two. He gives Zayn credit where credit’s due for his resilient performances, but he has to remember that he’s no Rollins or Reigns or Owens. He’s the man who’s going to take his title, but he’s willing to give Zayn some time to prepare for their match so there are no excuses afterwards, giving him till WM to accept the challenge! Zayn fires back with his own words, putting Samoa over for his success since Sami left NXT, but now that he’s at the big dance, the only person that’s going to choke at WM is Joe himself, Zayn accepting!
Zayn walks into the match as champion for the first time at the Grandest Stage of Them All unlike last year where he only left with gold, whilst Joe makes his official WM debut, and much like Sami’s the previous year, it’s in a high-profile title match. Their bout is a battle of guts and determination on the challenger’s end, taking everything Joe throws at him and still standing upright, ready to take more. He definitely feels the jabs and chops, his chest left beed-red, and even his face changes colour as he’s locked in the Coquina Clutch, but through one way or another, Zayn is able to secure the 3-count over Joe in another classic bout, retaining his title!

Backlash 2017
Post-WM features the debut of the Superstar Shake-up, wrestlers being switched from brand to brand, Zayn being involved amongst the ones moving homes as he finds himself in the Land of Opportunity, SmackDown Live, bringing his US Title with him! Upon arriving, he makes himself comfortable and at home, resuming his Open Challenges, now with a vast array of new faces to defend against, starting to pick up momentum as he lands a couple wins.
Before he can get too settled in though, he’s interrupted by AJ Styles one week, who states that now that Zayn is in the House That AJ Styles Built, he needs to follow the rules and put the title up for grabs against a real star like himself if a challenge is what he wants. The two men shake on it, setting up a dream match for the ages at Backlash between two world-travelled veterans!
As expected, Zayn vs Styles for the very first time rocks the house, the two putting on a sure-fire MOTN on any card, the tenacity of Zayn matched against the pit-bull aggression of Styles proving to be an entertaining clash of styles. Sami counters fire with fire as he showcases his own technical game as Styles to cinches in the Calf Crusher, Zayn able to turn it around into a Cross Armbreaker! In the end, Styles calls for a Styles Clash, only for Zayn to wriggle free and stack the shoulders for 3, remaining champion by the skin of his teeth!

Money in the Bank 2017
MITB sees multiple stories come to a head as Zayn qualifies for a second straight year, Styles right behind him, berating Sami for taking the easy way out in their match, wanting a proper finish. Nakamura and Ziggler also join the field, their issues coming to a head at the previous PPV too, before simmering over into the annual Ladder match. Rounding out the field are Baron Corbin, who makes his MITB debut, and one man Zayn hasn’t interacted with since their match at HIAC, Kevin Owens.
For the most part, the two men keep their distance from one another, the violence of last year kept safe under the sands of time, but as the opportunity arises, the two stare each other down one year on from, the hatred not having left for even a moment. Zayn is once again champion like he was last year, whilst Owens is without gold, having lost his UV Title to Jericho at WM. Alas, with the two back to square one, they get ready to trade fists… only for everyone else to rush back inside the ring, the two men getting lost in the frenzy.
In the end, Zayn’s hopes are dashed by the Phenomenal One himself, a killer Calf Crusher rendering Sami unable to haul his body to the top of the ladder, opening up the window for anyone else to accomplish the feat. And who but the Prizefighter himself is left the last man standing as he unhooks the briefcase, becoming Mr. MITB! As Sami comes to, he’s distraught by the result, wishing for anyone but his worst enemy to win the match, but alas, that’s all she wrote.

Battleground 2017
In the fallout of MITB one thing is clear for Zayn; his issues with Styles are still unsolved. Styles calls Sami’s victory at Backlash a fluke, wanting him to beat him in convincing fashion as opposed to a shock roll-up. He challenges Zayn to a rematch, but due to Zayn winning the initial bout between them, it’s scheduled to be a non-title match instead in order to allow other competitors to receive their due Open Challenge opportunities by Sami. In the match, Styles taunts Zayn to put him away with the Helluva Kick, pushing him around as he tries to find the tough skin below what he perceives to be a soft layer on top, but in the end, it’s Styles walking away victorious after nailing the Styles Clash!
The following week, the Phenomenal One comes out and says that if the U.F.T.U wants a room in the house that he built, he better earn it, or otherwise he should hand over the keys to US Title and let a more deserving competitor represent the gold. Styles continues to say that Zayn lacks killer instinct, which is why he lost to Owens this time last year, causing Sami to be taken aback. Wanting to prove AJ wrong and with the tally tied 1-1 between them, Zayn offers to put his title on the line at BG in a 2-out-of-3 Falls, the better man between them walking out as champion, Styles accepting.
With Zayn and Styles going at it again for the title and an exciting stipulation to boot, this match tops their Backlash classic, the two going ham on each other. Styles once again pushes Zayn to unlock the darker side of him and bring out the pit-bull whilst Sami opts to remain conservative of his energy, but it only leads to him blundering as AJ scores the first fall off the Calf Crusher.
Styles continues to pick apart the leg, looking to completely take his foe’s base out and tap him out 2 straight, only for Zayn to start fighting his way back into the match, living up to his underdog moniker even when champion, but this time, he starts bringing out a newer side to him, rattling AJ with more aggressive strikes and tighter submissions, pulling out his killer instinct! A BrainbusteHelluva Kick combo is enough to level the scores, 1-1!
In the final fall, Zayn and Styles go tit for tat in their wrestling, both looking to cinch in their submissions and outstrike the other, the stalemate carrying them towards the 30 minute mark. Styles starts getting desperate with his offense as Zayn kicks out of everything Styles throws at him, popping the shoulder up after a Phenomenal Forearm and once again surviving the Calf Crusher, but in the end, the Styles Clash finally does him in, AJ prevailing 2-1 to win the US Title! Zayn may have lost, but in defeat, he’s earned the respect of Styles.

SummerSlam 2017
With his US Title reign now a thing of the past, Zayn has nothing to do at the Biggest Party of the Summer, last year involved in the World Title proceedings but those are already occupied this time around, leaving him in search of the big match that would propel him to World Title status. Enter the man he made his main roster debut against, former 16x World Champion, John Cena.
The Leader of the Cenation back in town, he puts over Zayn on the mic, having kept a close eye on him since their brilliant match in 2015, seeing only bright things in his future. However, as they say, to be the man you gotta beat the man, and well, the Franchise player might know a guy that Zayn could face at SummerSlam… Sami accepts the challenge, determined to get his win back after 2 years of rising up the card.
At SummerSlam, Zayn vs Cena is one of the most hyped matches on the card and for good reason, Zayn silencing any doubters if he even has any left at this point by putting on an in-ring classic against the Face that Runs the Place. Cena unloads his arsenal on Zayn, taking him through the motions and laying the Five Moves of Doom on him, but no matter what he goes for, nothing seems to work!
Zayn keeps kicking out and getting back to his feet, having waited for this rematch for over 2 years, not wanting to lose this time, or it’d invalidate everything he had worked so hard for. Alas, after an incredible back-and-forth over 20-25 minutes, Zayn nails the move that has gotten him so far, the Helluva Kick booting Cena in the face for the 1…2…3! Zayn has just won arguably the biggest match of his career on a grand stage on its own right, Cena raising Zayn’s hand after the match, signalling that the loveable underdog is the future of the business!

Hell in a Cell 2017
With a massive victory over Cena under his belt, there’s only one place left for Zayn to go, and that’s challenging for the WWE Championship. And who holds that title, might you ask? Well, none other than the King of Strong Style, Shinsuke Nakamura! On the night after SummerSlam, Zayn comes out to the ring and lays out the challenge to the Japanese Sensation, remembering their MOTYC last year at Takeover: Dallas in his NXT swansong, not only wanting his win back, but also the title around Nakamura’s waist.
However, he isn’t alone in his challenge, the newly called-up ‘Glorious’ Bobby Roode interrupting the proceedings and immediately inserting himself into the World Title picture, using the momentum from his lengthy NXT Title reign to get him there. Standing undefeated against Shinsuke, Roode believes he’d be a much better candidate to face the WWE Champ than Zayn, leading to a match between them, where if Roode wins, he’s added to the match. And much like Zayn did one year ago leading into SummerSlam, Bobby picks up the win and cashes in on the opportunity, making it a 3-way for the strap at HIAC!
As the bell rings to start the WWE Title Triple Threat, Roode immediately rolls to the outside, wanting to let Zayn and Nakamura tire themselves out so he can slide back in for the easy victory whenever he wants, but unfortunately for him, his adversaries don’t let that happen, Bobby forced to mix in the action, albeit still bringing all the tricks up his sleeves, especially in the No DQ environment.
After a heated battle between all 3 men, Zayn looks to finish Roode off with a Helluva Kick in the corner, only to be nailed with a Low Blow from the Glorious One and a Glorious DDT to cap it all off! But as he slides into cover on Zayn, Nakamura flies in from out of nowhere, knocking Bobby’s lights out with a Kinshasa for the 3 count, just about retaining over his two challengers!

Survivor Series 2017
Unsatisfied about how their match went down at HIAC, Zayn comes out to the ring the following SD and challenges Nakamura to a 1-on-1 rematch between them, seeing as Sami wasn’t pinned in the match. Shinsuke seems eager to do battle once more, but only this time, he wants Zayn to prove he’s worthy of it in front of him, thus leading to a match between him and Randy Orton, arguably one of the tougher opponents the U.F.T.U has had to face, but still, he’s able to come away with the victory, turning the RKO into a BrainbusteHelluva Kick combo to earn the shot!
The long-awaited 1-on-1 rematch between Zayn and Nakamura takes place in the main event of the final Big 4 PPV of the year, Sami’s dreams now on the cusp of materialising. All he needs to do to achieve them is beat Nakamura, but it is definitely a tall task. Nevertheless, he strides into battle with his head held high, the two creating pure magic in the ring once again, topping the classic from Dallas in one hell of a 5* performance from both parties!
Nakamura throws all the knees he can, whilst Zayn fires back with Lariats and borrows European Uppercuts from Cesaro, taking from the wrestling knowledge he can. And alas, with Nakamura in perfect position in the corner, Zayn does the ‘YEA-OH’ taunt, before nailing the HELLUVA KICK! COVER! 1…2…No? Zayn looks around, confused, believing the ref’s hand should’ve slapped the mat a third time, only to see the ref has been stomped into the canvas, and standing over them is… MR. MITB KEVIN OWENS!
Breaking up the count, Owens looms over Zayn and Nakamura with his briefcase, stalking them in wait as a new referee runs down to the ring, Kevin sliding the briefcase over to them, leading to the words Zayn dreaded from the moment KO won the Ladder match. ‘Kevin Owens is cashing in his Money in the Bank contract!’. BANG! POP-UP POWERBOMB! COVER! 1…2…3! The dastardly villain did it. He robbed Sami of his moment to become the NEW WWE Champion! Zayn is heartbroken.

Clash of Champions 2017
The events that closed the night at Survivor Series are the talk of the town as Owens parades around with his newly-won WWE Championship, becoming the first man to hold it, the Universal and NXT Titles, now sitting atop the throne of SD as the tyrannical ruler. Zayn is speechless at first, but quickly he bursts into a mix of emotions, ranging from anger to sadness to confusion. He begs for a shot at Owens, the man who robbed him yet again, but unfortunately for him, Nakamura is the one eligible for the rematch, Zayn getting pinned.
For a few weeks, Sami is nowhere to be seen, as if the loss completely wiped him off the map. However, he finally musters up the strength and courage to return to the SmackDown arena, and upon arriving, is serenaded by everyone in attendance, not a single person there who doesn’t want to see Zayn as WWE Champ. Before Zayn can get on the mic though, he’s interrupted by some very familiar music, as out comes… former NXT and Cruiserweight Champion, NEVILLE!
A man he’s done battle with countless times, having recently lost his throne, the former King of the Cruiserweights is now on SD! He steps up to Zayn, the two staring each other down, before Neville slaps the taste out of Zayn’s mouth! He yells at him that is this really the man he’s become? The man who beat him for the NXT Title has been reduced to this? Taking weeks off and getting lost in melancholy?
This isn’t the Sami Zayn he once knew, and this isn’t the Zayn anyone else recognises either. He should be back on his feet already, taking on the entire world to get the WWE Championship. But if this is truly who he is now, then it seems Zayn wouldn’t mind Neville steamrolling past him to claim that title for himself.
Neville turns to leave, only for Zayn to stop him, a driven look on his face. He demands Neville not go anywhere, because he isn’t going to walk over Zayn. The line to the WWE Title starts behind him, so if he wants to hop on the train, he’s going to have to beat him first. Neville grins, having brought out the fire back out of Zayn, accepting the challenge, the match made official for CoC!
At the PPV, Zayn and Neville deliver another one of their classics that they’ve been putting on since their days in PWG, the two tearing down the house with their unparalleled chemistry. Having put on a more muscle since their last encounter in 2014, Neville’s strength is considerable, but Zayn’s drive to win is even stronger, the U.F.T.U coming away with the victory, revitalising his road back to the apex!

Royal Rumble 2018
With Zayn recharged with energy and motivation, he enters his third Rumble, this one set to be his toughest one to date as he enters at #1, #2 being none other than the man who pinned him at SummerSlam 2016 to become the inaugural UV Champ, Finn Balor! Having never faced off in singles action before, the highlight of the Rumble amongst other special moments like Mysterio returning and the likes of Andrade and Adam Cole featuring in the bout, is the Iron Man clash between Zayn and Balor, both men going the distance, surviving everyone else that came in their way, both clocking over an hour each in the match!
In the classic ‘match in a match’ formula, the two put on a barnstormer even after having already wrestled so long! The finish comes when both men are teetering on the apron, hanging onto the ropes for dear life as they try to eliminate each other. A stomp from Balor misses, opening Sami up to connect the HELLUVA KICK, blasting him off the apron and out to the floor! SAMI ZAYN HAS WON THE ROYAL RUMBLE! THIRD TIME’S THE CHARM!

Fastlane 2018
Nothing can describe the energy running through Zayn’s veins upon winning the Rumble, now set to take on either the Universal Champion Brock Lesnar or WWE Champion Kevin Owens at WrestleMania! Instead of choosing immediately though, he decides to hold off and see how Fastlane goes, the WWE Title still set to be defended there. In the meantime, he receives a challenge of his won for the PPV in the form of the Viper, Randy Orton!
Orton didn’t appreciate Zayn using him as a ticket to a WWE Title match at Survivor Series that he didn’t even win, so he conducts a vicious attack on Sami (Orton is heel here), collecting his due payback. However, he isn’t ready to stop just right there, harkening back to the last time WM was set to be in New Orleans, WMXXX. He lost his World Title to a man much like Zayn in the night’s main event and he would love nothing more than to avenge that loss too by taking out Zayn and claiming his spot at WM, so he challenges him to a rematch for Fastlane with the Rumble shot on the line. Ready to take on any doubters, Zayn accepts!
At Fastlane, the two wrestle a slow, methodical match that works to Orton’s pace, allowing Randy to viciously dissect Zayn, looking to break him down psychologically whilst torturing him physically. Zayn’s mind happens to be impenetrable though, no amount of disrespect or bullying in the ring able to stop him from getting what he wants, Sami able to defang the Viper once more and retain his World Title shot! In the night’s main event, Owens retains the gold, and as he celebrates, here comes the moment everyone’s been waiting for! Sami points to the WM sign whilst Owens holds his title up high, Zayn’s intentions speaking loud and clear; it’s Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens for the WWE Championship in the main event of WM!

WrestleMania 34
Here it is. The Final Battle. Over a decade of their tumultuous relationship has lead to this. Countless matches with and against each other. Now finally all coming to a head at the Grandest Stage of Them All. 2 years ago, Zayn took Owens’ IC Title on the WM stage, but KO-Mania 3 looks to be his toughest challenge to date. The build to the match sees them recount everything that’s taken place from NXT to WWE, both men hyping the match up exactly how it should be.
With the last match on the horizon, Zayn asks Owens to finally answer the question he’s dodged since REvolution – Why? Owens talks about how Zayn had become selfish, proceeding to climb up the ladder without him instead of reaching down to help him up too, forcing Owens to carve out his own path which involved a lot of bloodshed and broken bones. Back at Survivor Series, he wasn’t going to make the same mistake he made at REvolution, letting Zayn win the top title first. He struck instead, making the WWE Title his, and he’d rather die before he lose it to Zayn.
Zayn fires back, stating that just when he thought things were improving between the two of them in 2013, Owens ruined everything with what he did on the happiest night of Zayn’s career, that was supposed to be spent with his brother. Owens threw all that away, not him, and come WM, he’s going to put a stop to all of this once and for all by beating Owens where they once dreamed to face off: in the main event of WM.
With everything in place for the match to occur, the two proceed to their WWE Title match. It’s not a match about weapons or cheap tactics. It’s a straight-up singles match, like the one two years ago, only much, much bigger with a lot more riding on the line. Amalgamating everything they’ve done from across their countless classics, they combine it into one breath-taking contest with a beautiful story to cap-off their rivalry. In the end, Owens is in the corner, nowhere to go, too exhausted to move. Zayn races across the ring and delivers the HELLUVA KICK, one with all the emotion and drive behind it, before collapsing into the cover. 1…2…3! SAMI ZAYN HAS DONE IT! SAMI ZAYN IS THE NEW WWE CHAMPION! The miracle on Bourbon Street has occurred once more as Zayn closes out WM, achieving his dreams and become the WWE Champion!

SmackDown after WrestleMania
It’s an emotional night on the SmackDown after WM, a massive celebration going down as Zayn holds his newly-won WWE Title up high, sharing the moment with all the fans in attendance. He cuts an impassioned promo about what the victory means to him, before saying that it’s now the fans and his era, so whoever wants a piece of the new WWE Champion, come to the ring right now, first come, first serve!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHU5D2O31vs
Out comes Daniel Bryan! The two men stare each other down, Zayn holding his title up high and Bryan performing the "YES!" chant, his first challenger here...

MEGA FORTUNE JACKPOT REVIEW

Mega Fortune Slot RTP, Details & Wager Limits

The Mega Fortune jackpot slot comes with 5 reels, 3 rows and 25 paylines. A winning combination is simply created by landing matching symbols in succession beginning from the leftmost reel (reel 1).
You can play Mega Fortune from 25p to £50 per spin. With an Autoplay function, you can choose up to 1,000 autospins. There are plenty of Advanced settings where you can stop autoplay on any win, if a single win exceeds a chosen amount or if your balance increases or decreases by a selected amount. You can also stop it if any of the bonus features are triggered, if a jackpot is won.
Medium variance, the Mega Fortune RTP is 96.6%. Decent for a progressive jackpot slot, 62.8% if wins come in the base game, 16.8% comes in the free spins and 9.3% comes in the bonus feature. 7.6% goes towards the jackpots.
With a high hit frequency of 52.6%, you’ll get a winning combination in over half of spins, on average. The biggest possible payout, bar the progressive jackpots, is 2,162 x your total stake. This will come in the Free Spins feature due to the potential 5x multiplier.
Highly volatile, expect smaller wins most of the time. The Rage of the Seas RTP is 96.04% which is average for an online slot. The maximum win is 27,440 x stake per spin. This will likely come when the reels expand to offer up to 5,488 ways to win.

Mega Fortune Theme – Audio & Design Features – all about wealth

The Mega Fortune slot has a luxury theme as it focuses on wealth. With yachts and palm trees at night time in the backdrop, it feels like you’re in Monte Carlo. Released in December 2008, it’s not as graphically rich as newer slot games but paints the rich feel adequately.
With no playing card fillers, all symbols relate to the theme. You have A, K diamond rings, Q and J cuff links, cigars and cognac drinks, dollar bills, luxurious watches and limousines. The limousine is the most rewarding symbol giving you 40 x stake for 5 in combination.
The yacht symbol is the wild and substitutes for all symbols except the bonus and scatter symbols. 2, 3, 4 or 5 wilds will pay 0.4, 4, 40 or 400 x your total stake.
Despite being a relatively old slot game, NetEnt has revamped Mega Fortune so you can play on mobile and tablet devices, as well as desktops. If you have an iOS, Android or Windows device, you can play. The visuals and reel layout work perfectly on smartphone screens.

Bonus Features in Mega Fortune

The Mega Fortune has 2 bonus features. There are free spins with multipliers up to 5x on offer. It focuses on the Bonus Game feature where you spin the wheel to win cash bonuses. Land on arrows to move to the next inner wheel for bigger prizes and jackpots. Make it all the way to the end to win the Mega Jackpot.

Free Spins feature

There is a Free Spins feature which can be triggered by landing 3 or more champagne scatters anywhere across the reels. 2 will give you a 2 x stake prize whilst 3, 4 or 5 will pay 3, 10 or 100 x your stake.
You then choose 1 of the triggering champagne scatters to reveal the number of free spins and the multiplier you’ll play with. You could play with up to 10 free spins and a multiplier up to 5x. During the feature, 2 or more scatters will activate extra free spins or increase the multiplier.

Bonus Game feature

Mega Fortune is all about the Bonus Game feature. This is triggered by landing 3 wheel bonus symbols on consecutive reels (for example reels 3 through 5).
You will see a big glitzy wheel with 2 inner wheels. Click on the ‘Spin’ button to start spinning the wheels. In the outer wheel, you have guaranteed cash prizes and arrows.
Landing on the arrows will move you onto the second wheel which has bigger cash prizes and the possibility to win the Rapid Jackpot. You could also land an arrow to get to the third bonus wheel.
If you get to the inner and third wheel, there are bigger cash prizes and the Major Jackpot. However, look out for the diamond encrusted arrow which will win you the Mega Jackpot. Here’s what each of the jackpots will pay:
  • Rapid Jackpot: minimum of £50
  • Major Jackpot: minimum of £5,000
  • Mega Jackpot: minimum of £150,000
Whilst £150,000 may not be appealing, Mega Fortune is known for producing many millionaires. The biggest ever jackpot won was €17,861,800 in January 2013. A world-record at the time, the average jackpot is just over £3 million. It is won every 65 days on average too making it 1 of the most popular jackpot slots ever.

Mega Fortune Review Summary – iconic jackpot slot

The Mega Fortune slot has achieved cult status and is 1 of the 2 most played online jackpot slots ever, along with Microgaming’s Mega Moolah slot. With many millionaires created, it’s the go-to jackpot game for NetEnt players.
The visuals are decent and the Free Spins feature can dish out decent rewards if you get the 5x multiplier. However, just hope you land on plenty of arrows which can land you the huge Mega Jackpot prize. Good luck.
If you like chasing jackpots, there’s a progressive jackpot slots section with the likes of Hall of Gods, Arabian Nights and Jackpot Giant available.

Hater's Guide to the 104th Indianapolis 500

Hater's Guide to the 104th Indianapolis 500
Intro:
Just like many sports seasons around the world, Indycar was greatly affected by coronavirus. They were just about to kick off the season in St. Petersburg, Florida when the lockdown was ordered on that fateful weekend in mid-March. In quarantine, Indycar, like many other racing series moved to the world of I-Racing which was looking to be a successful endeavor until the Indianapolis race, where some last lap shenanigans occurred and the Indy/F1 online world had a meltdown bigger than Chernobyl, Fukushima, and Three Mile Island combined. I have formulated my own opinions on this matter, but I won’t bore you with those because that isn’t the topic of this script. After that, the season eventually kicked off at Texas in early June and the season has rolled onward from there with very little problems. The schedule has changed around with some track cancellations which lead to some doubleheader weekends with the season now ending in St. Pete instead of beginning there. Still, the big question on everyone’s mind for the season was obviously the Indy 500. As time drew nearer to the big race, Penske and IMS made the decision to drop the attendance number from 50% to 25% and then eventually closed off the track to all fans due to the rising COVID cases in Indiana. But alas, the race is still here. Obviously it will be much different without 300,000 cheering fans but the most important thing of the race festivities is the race itself which is certainly happening.
So for the few that care, the extended wait is over. The Greatest Spectacle in Racing is finally happening this Sunday in the new Roger Penske era. It has been a rough first year for Penske as owner as this race will be run without fans among other issues in the world, but at least it’s happening. For this guide, I will be going from 33rd to 1st since no one was bumped this year. I will be discussing more of the race itself and not much about external factors such as contracts and stuff though it will be mentioned from time to time. Be mindful that this will also be more in a Tree style so some of the content might not be as serious as anticipated but I'll try my best. I’m just very passionate about Indycar and would encourage people to watch it. (It’s like F1 but with more action and parity) Hopefully everyone enjoys this nonetheless. So how about we meet our 33 gladiators for this epic event, shall we?
Row 11:
#81 DragonSpeed, Ben Hanley
To be completely honest, if corona wasn’t ravaging the world, you probably wouldn’t have even made it close to getting in. Pre-COVID times, there were talks of a Bump Day that could rival 2019 or 2011 in terms of qualifying being something worth the watch. With talks of drivers like Oriol Servia, Pippa Mann, Stefan Wilson, and Sebastian Bourdais seeking rides, Kyle Kaiser joining back with Juncos Racing, RC Enerson joining as a rookie for the rookie squad of Top Gun Racing, and Penske bringing over Supercar ace Scotty McLaughlin from down under.
With your car being 4 mph off of 32nd, I’m getting strong 2012 vibes with the “Slotuses” of Simona de Silvestro and Jean Alesi. Hell, Hanley and DragonSpeed were basically using qualifying as just extra practice for the car. It showed no speed whatsoever. You’ll be swept aside in the first few laps and hopefully not be a moving chicane.
#67 Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, JR Hildebrand
Already, yes, time for some ranting. I’m still salty over you slicing Helio’s bumper pod in 2016, but that doesn’t even come close to the reasons I see no point in you returning to Indy. You nearly single-handedly drove Panther Racing into the ground, your ineptitude has cost you so much in racing, and May 29, 2011 will be the embodiment of your entire existence unless you rack off a couple of 500s which realistically is never happening.
I don’t know why you’re here except because you can, I guess. Just don’t do anything stupid, pretty please?
#24 Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, Sage Karam
Discount Josef Newgarden is back for another shot at immortality. Besides for his 2014 500 run where he got a top 10, it will probably be a wash, rinse, repeat for that other guy from Nazareth, PA. He’ll work his way up through the field and then piss it away half way through by crashing, it happens almost like a trend at this point. He’s just way too wild and dangerous with his car, putting it where only the best can go, and he isn’t the best. Just look at the 2015 season where he was close to full-time, it isn’t pretty.
Row 10
#59 Carlin Racing, Max Chilton
The F1 fans should know this name fairly well. The Marussia guy that wasn’t Jules Bianchi is back for another shot at the 500. Max splits the 59 car with Conor Daly this year with Chilton doing the road courses for the regular season so this is his first oval of the year. However, I do have some optimism. Daly proved the Carlin cars can run up front with his showings at Iowa, and Chilton has run up front in the past, so who knows. Not bad for an F1 backmarker.
#4 A.J Foyt Racing, Charlie Kimball
Everyone’s favorite diabetic race car driver is back. In Indycar, Foyt is essentially a back-marker team but SuperTex always sets his eyes on Indianapolis, as most people do. There really isn’t much to say because Kimball has been wildly inconsistent (as well as his car) so only time will tell.
#3 Penske Racing, Helio Castroneves
As a diehard Helio fan when he was full-time in Indycar, this makes my heart shrivel. Penske is having one of its worst outings at Indy since 1995. Mentioning that year to The Captain is like mentioning Tiananmen Square to China. (1995 was when all the Penske cars completely missed the field) Kind of a bad look for a guy that now owns IMS and the Indycar Series, but the Chevys look significantly weaker than the Hondas. Possibly their only prayer is if the Honda’s engine all die on each other and even then, who knows.
As for Helio at 45 years old, this might be his last outing before he officially becomes the new-age Buddy Lazier, an old man putzing around IMS because his IMSA window might be shut because of Acura leaving the Penske program there. For his career, he is this league’s Denny Hamlin, just much more likeable. 3 Indy 500s, but no championships due to ungodly amounts of choking over the past 20 years. This dude has never one a championship in literally any series that people give the slightest of shits about. I just hope he can somehow win a 4th 500 so I can die in peace.
Row 9:
#51 Rick Ware Racing, James Davison
I’m not gonna bore you with another Rick Ware backmarker joke because let’s be honest, those are stale as 104-year old bread. However, the Rick Ware empire extends to Indycar with one of their part-time NASCAR drivers in Australian James Davison. I should keep an open mind since this is a new car that has shown flashes of speed, but Davison himself hasn’t had the best of runs in the big race. He has been involved in 3 crashes in the past 3 years at Indy, one when he was replacing Sebastian Bourdais, another when he plowed into Takuma Sato (which really wasn’t his fault), and last year where he knocked into Castroneves in the pit lane. Can he turn it around? Maybe? Or will the Rick Ware memes live on forever? I say the latter.
#66 Arrow McLaren SP, Fernando Alonso
The professional sadness man is back to try and take the Triple Crown of Motorsports. Though SPAM has been fast this season and Alonso showed promise in practice, I don’t think it will be enough. Hopefully your demons from 2017 and 2019 won’t come back to haunt you.
This might also be your last shot to win at Indy with Cyril Abiteboulshit and the Renault gang giving you a metric fuckton of money to go back to F1 and make Guanyou Zhou cry in his sleep. Even with no clash between Monaco and Indy in the near-future, Renault doesn’t want him back in the States for another go-around. Many people said that your crash in practice was due to you trying to find the limits of the racing surface, but the problem is that everyone else doesn’t make the same mistake of dipping onto the apron of Turn 4. If you aren’t drinking the milk this year, we might as well release a Flaming Rosberg on your ass and pray Juan Montoya can do something with a DPi at Le Mans.
#22 Team Pesnke, Simon Pagenaud
After recovering from the shitshow that was the I-Race at Indianapolis, Pagenaud sits 2nd in the standings hoping to repeat as 500 champion. However, I don’t know if it will happen with Penske’s pace so far in practice and qualifying. Pagenaud has shown pace in the season with a last to first win at Iowa but will that pace be enough to out-run the Hondas? I honestly have no clue, but it would be awesome to see you hoist Norman in victory with a 350k check from Borg-Warner. The only people that would be crying would be Lando Norris fanboys.
Row 8:
#41 A.J Foyt Racing, Dalton Kellett
Oh hey I forgot you existed! This quiet rookie Canadian has been rather stagnant in his maiden campaign. I guess that’s what happens when you are sent to the shadow realm known as A.J. Foyt Racing. He hasn’t shown much as TK’s road course driver, but a win or a strong outing would do great things for his reputation. It could be the thing that could salvage a career that already looks to be going by the wayside. Check back with us next week.
#14 A.J Foyt Racing, Tony Kanaan
The journey has ended for the other lovable Brazilian. On a part-time schedule for the 14 this year, this will be the last ride at the Cathedral of Speed for one of Indycar’s most popular drivers. If it wasn’t for 2013, this run would have probably been one of the most depressing things to watch as an Indycar fan. In a Foyt car, he really isn’t in a spot to win but hopefully he can lead a few laps and make the fans who are there only in their hearts cheer with joy. I would just like to thank you for all the great memories watching Indycar, being one of the best of this era and one of the nicest guys I’ve met in my time at races. The Indycar community will miss you greatly. Obrigado, buddy.
#12 Team Penske, Will Power
Well that was depressing, about as depressing as Team Penske’s efforts for the starting grid this year (I know I’m beating a dead horse, I’m sorry). I honestly don't know what to say, but it’s more of the same. The Chevys as a whole look vastly inferior to the Hondas. Hopefully, Penske can make up for this in strategy and lightning fast pit stops. Hopefully Tim Cindric will make good calls and not pay too much attention to his son kicking some serious ass in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
It’s been an up and down year for Power like when he’s racked off 2 runner-ups this season mixed with tire failures and having one too many Foster’s at Road America and knocking himself, Ryan Hunter-Reay, and Graham Rahal out of contention in 3 separate incidents on the first lap. Hopefully, many water bottles will be brutally chewed and battered by his wife as Will looks for a 2nd 500 crown.
Row 7:
#7 Arrow McLaren SP, Oliver Askew
Me: So Oliver, can I “askew” what you think about your car?
Askew: Say that one more time and I’ll punch you in the face
Me: Ok fair enough
Alright, I’m done with the Askew puns. Another rookie in the field, Askew has been slightly inconsistent, but shows promise. The young talent on AMSP is very interesting to watch, and once they get the hang of things, I think Askew and O’Ward can make runs for wins in the near future. Even though Arrow Mclaren SP has been a solid team this season, any momentum going into Indy can be completely thrown out the window. We’ve seen struggles of Chevrolet this week so only time will tell if things pan out on race day.
#60 Meyer-Shank Racing, Jack Harvey
Even with some Andretti Autosport backing, it’s been a strange season so far for the young Brit. The man seems to be qualifying well yet just cannot keep up with the big boys come race time and by that I mean completely shit the bed at the start. It’s so odd to watch. Like some others, I think Harvey will be just another mid-field guy for this race and possibly many more to come. Some people see promise in him, but I really don’t. Maybe he needs a change of scenery from being in sub-par equipment but… I can’t really tell. Very mysterious to me.
#18 Coyne/Vasser-Sullivan Racing, Santino Ferrucci
Alright, prepare for some pretty hardcore ranting.
I hate you. Never in my 10 years of watching Indycar have I hated a guy that isn’t because of pure domination (i.e. Dario Franchitti, Will Power, Scott Dixon). You are this league’s Kyle Busch and gained my disgust of you in a fraction of the time. You are Lance Stroll’s evil twin. From being a politically-charged 10-year old karting driver to destroying your entire reputation in F2 in the span of like two weeks only to have the Indycar community praise you week after week is one of the most infuriating things I’ve witnessed as a racing fan. After him and his dad openly mocked your Indian teammate’s accent in F2, I saw a guy on the Indycar subreddit who said, “why is everyone mad at him for this, we all make fun of people’s accents at some point”. The circlejerking of the guys at NBC especially that night in Gateway merely for driving near the front is probably the indirect reason Andrew Luck retired that night. The announcers are in awe of this clown because Dale Jr was impressed that he took a access road to avoid a crash at last year’s 500. Oh look at you, Lightning McQueen over here. He’s achieved a Golden boy status that Max Verstappen and Chase Elliott could only dream of. You can't even tell me he’s matured and changed because that stunt he pulled on Askew in the Indianapolis I-Race proves he has that assholery still bottled up somewhere. Him somehow winning the 500 would be so fitting for 2020.
In all seriousness, the dude is a wild child. Drivers like Josef Newgarden have even expressed this to the media in past races. Maybe if Coyne kept Bourdais in the 18, you wouldn’t have to rely on daddy’s money to keep you in Indycar. I guess the wallet shines brighter than the heart in an organization that tries to keep afloat year by year. These inconsistencies along with a Coyne driver qualifying much higher than you, it will take something huge to pull it off.
Row 6:
#47 Ed Carpenter Racing, Conor Daly
In all his meme glory in the Indycar world, Conor has actually impressed quite a bit this season. He got his first pole and put up some promising numbers in practice, especially for a Chevy-powered car. He could be a dark horse candidate to win in which the Indycar community would cry tears of joy for their Indiana boy. The first time since 1940 that a Hoosier could win it all. Daly seems like a guy that could be around for a while and is very likable with most fans and drivers. Turn your bad luck around, Conor, please for the love of God.
#26 Andretti Autosport, Zach Veach
I don’t know if I’m more surprised that an Andretti car is this far down in the running order, or the fact that you can actually see over the steering wheel. Alright, enough joking for this time, but seriously, I’m starting to question this man's ability. Besides Indianapolis, Andretti has gotten off to a rocky start and you’re still behind the team in points, finishing 4th at Texas and laying an egg for the remainder of the rounds. You were the only true Andretti car to not make it into the Fast 9. That should be a bit worrying to you. If Gainbridge isn’t going to dump money onto your car, you might be seeing the door son.
#20 Ed Carpenter Racing, Ed Carpenter
Another favorite among the Hoosiers, this ownedriver struggled in practice and qualifying. Sporting a sweet black livery sponsored by the Space Force was lacking. For people that watch Indycar regularly, you know that Oval Ed is usually very strong in qualifying and is almost always vying for the pole position. He wasn’t anywhere near it this time. Again, you might chalk it up to the Chevys being god awful but young gun teammate Rinus Veekay went deep into the Fast 9 with relative ease, being the only Chevy to do so. Maybe it’s his talents or just a better car but with usual bad luck during the race, I’m starting to think the window is closing on this Indiana boy’s shot to win.
Row 5
#5 Arrow McLaren SP, Pato O’Ward
With a name that makes you wonder how he’s Mexican, Pato O’Ward has worked wonders as a rookie. Personally, I think this man has a better shot to make it than Askew does. This has been a huge bounceback year for Pato. He missed the 500 in his rookie year after being bumped and once he signed to the Red Bull Driver’s Program, he proceeded to suck in ways that would make James Conner and Chris Boswell tear up and clap in admiration. (The joke being that these men sucked after being given big contracts or chances)
O’Ward has impressed me and with a 2nd place run at Road America helped me conclude that SPAM is becoming more and more of a contender as time goes on. The Arrow cars could have a shot to win if fate deals them a good hand for the race.
#10 Chip Ganassi Racing, Felix Rosenqvist
Coming back to the States after a brief retreat with Mahindra’s Formula E team, Felix has had some pretty bad luck in races. Such as Mid Ohio 2019 where he was bullied out of a win by the actual track owner, Scott Dixon or Texas this year where the racing gods fucked him over by means of deteriorating PJ1 with the car to beat. He finally got his maiden win by chasing down Pato O’Ward to win at Road America, a well deserved victory.
For his shot at the 500,... I don’t know. He was the slowest of the Ganassi cars and I don’t think ovals are his strong suit. Even though he is in good equipment, if any Ganassi driver is gonna win, it will probably be Scott Dixon. Once he gets more of a hang of ovals and Ganassi seems to be the superior car at Indy, maybe then Rosenqvist could shine at the Brickyard. Please shave your bad luck, you’re just too good for it.
#1 Team Penske, Josef Newgarden
The highest qualifying Penske driver… is 13th. I guess this is the payment for now owning the series along with IMS. However, if any Penske could win, it’ll probably be Newgarden. Over the past few years, the defending and 2017 champion has shown to be one of the best in the Indycar business. Even with the aero kits preventing a lot of passing per the drivers word, Newgarden could be one to get up front. He is a man well deserving of a 500 win.
However, that’s what Penske wants, big results which mean a 500. It’s a harsh reality but Roger can be cutthroat when it comes to this. If you can’t constantly run for a championship or 500, you might be shown the door. Sure Penske had his prized possession in Helio since the turn of the millenia but that’s an exception. He might not be so kind to the others. If you can’t win the 500 or championship, then guys like Power or Newgarden could be gone in a few years. A Newgarden 500 win might be the final touch to get that close bond with The Captain fully sealed. Just ask Ryan Brisoce who was shown the door after 5 seasons because others were performing better and his replacement in A.J Allmendinger was sacked after less than a year for being a complete mess. If you can’t make money in the sport for Roger, you could be done. That’s why I’m a little skeptical when people say that Roger is gonna make Indycar into a utopian world with 30 cars in every race, Ferrari and Mercedes begging to come, and 24 race schedules with Cleveland, Michigan, and Fontana. Sure it would be nice but if they can’t make money, then it doesn’t happen. He’s a businessman, you know. I’m not saying it’s Indy or bust this year, but just always keep it in the back of your mind.
It turns out the 3 full-time Penske drivers will stay put for 2021. The dread of under-performing has been held off for another year, I suppose.
Row 4:
#45 Rahal-Letterman-Lanigan Racing, Spencer Pigot
Pigot has always had a place in my heart while watching Indycar. When I was 6, I went to the Baltimore Grand Prix and saw Pigot leading in USF2000 and thought it would be cool to follow a guy that young up through the ranks. It was very satisfying to meet him at his Indy 500 debut 5 years later.
Enough backstory though, the RLL cars look fast as being a part of the Honda gang. His full-time teammates in Takuma Sato and Graham Rahal both getting into the Fast 9 is a promising sign for the team. Obviously, Pigot probably won’t be as strong. There’s nothing to really report here so I couldn’t give you an accurate word on how he’ll play out, but who knows. We’ve seen some surprise faces up front near the end, and if things go right, the #45 HyVee machine could be in contention.
#8 Chip Ganassi Racing, Marcus Ericsson
The man who haunts Romain Grosjean’s nightmares, Marcus Ericsson is hoping to make a more positive mark on the Indycar world instead of being an F1 doormat. The Ganassi cars look strong and I’m honestly impressed with his pace after he moved to Ganassi from Arrow SP last year. He’s been showing some good results lately so I wouldn’t be totally surprised if the Swede is running up front. Hopefully the only thing he will be hitting is the jackpot on Sunday.
#88 Andretti-Steinbrenner Racing, Colton Herta
Normally something owned by the family of the New York Yankees is not something you want to root for, but this is much different. Colton Herta, son of driver turned strategist Bryan, is looking to become the face of Indycar’s next generation. Already the youngest winner of the series, the now 20-year old hopes to do better than his last 500 outing where he started up front but had to retire due to a mechanical failure very early in the race. His 2020 campaign has been solid. He held the most consecutive Top 10 finishes in the early part of the season which ended when he was sent into Low Earth Orbit at Iowa. Still, the speed looks to be there. Colton is gonna be hungry this year and a 500 win would be incredible for a young and promising career.
The Fast 9/Row 3:
#27 Andretti Autosport, Alexander Rossi
As Pole Day came and went, we quickly learned even without a Bump Day, qualifying was something worth watching, especially on Day 2 with some very tense moments and tons of action throughout. However, the Pole Day Qualifying session was not kind to the California native. With unfavorable winds and a struggling car, Rossi will start 9th on the grid for the 104th Running. As he is an Andretti car, the speed has shown and will hopefully carry over into the race. Not only that, but Rossi seems almost guaranteed to win another 500 soon. In his first 4 outings in Speedway, Indiana, he has wowed the crowds with his speed. Hell, the race that he won was probably the race where he looked the weakest at. In his other 500 runs, the man looks like he is on a mission from God, nearly winning on numerous occasions and making moves on track in places where not even angels dare to go. Especially after a hard-fought loss to Pagenaud last year, Rossi will be one to watch for sure especially with the pace of the Andretti-powered cars.
#15 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, Graham Rahal
The son of the team’s owner, 1986 500 winner Bobby Rahal, Graham also struggled in qualifying with several near misses with the wall throughout the week. The RLL cars still have pace and seem poised to perform well throughout the race. Just getting into the Fast 9 proves that the pace is there to make a run for the win. Despite the name and speed, Graham hasn’t had a win in a while. Maybe this Sunday will be when the stars align again for an illustrious 500 victory.
#55 Dale Coyne/Team Goh, Alex Palou
His first year in the US, the rookie out of Barcelona has shown the promise of a bright future in Indycar. However, with Fernando Alonso present, he is seen as “that other Spanish guy” for now and probably will always be until Alonso is long dead and buried. On Pole Day, he was the first driver to eclipse 240 mph all week but struggled heavily in the turns leading to a 7th place start. Still not bad for a rookie who spent all last year racing Formula cars in Japan. With Texas having many limitations to the racing surfaces along with him crashing out early on, this will most likely be his first true test on an oval made purely for Indycars. I just hope he can keep up with the pace because if I were him, I would pissing myself inside the cockpit. He has expressed some nervousness already while driving so hopefully he can keep it steady and bring the car home.
Row 2:
#29 Andretti Autosport, James Hinchcliffe
It’s been said a thousand times but it still needs to be noted: the Andretti cars are crazy fast, there is no question about it. My issue is the driver at hand: the Mayor of Hinchtown. One of the best personalities, part-time NBC pit reporter, and a man helping Alexander Rossi find the soul that F1 took from him, IMS has always seemed to give Hinch a massive middle finger at every turn. From crashing out in his rookie year, to failing to win in his impressive 2013 season due to inconsistency, to nearly dying in a practice crash in 2015, to dominating from pole in 2016 only for TownsendBell.exe to crash and wreck you and fellow contender Ryan Hunter-Reay out of the running, to crashing again in 2017, to missing the field entirely in top-flight equipment in 2018, the jolly Canadian hasn’t had many good memories here. Can he turn that around? I can’t really tell you, but maybe Hinch and his so-called “Genevieve” car can wipe all the bad times away.
#28 Andretti Autosport, Ryan Hunter-Reay
National treasure and legend amongst mortals Leigh Diffey calls him “Captain America”, but this superhero might need a walker and cane soon as the Lauderdale native pushes 40 this year. The 2014 500 winner and man who’s part of the biggest meme in Indycar, (Don’t forget the heat!) Hunter-Reay looks to capitalize on Andretti’s success in the month of August (There's a shit ton of Andretti cars, I know). While there is speed, Hunter-Reay has been plagued with tons of reliability issues in recent outings. That could be Honda’s achilles heel and might be Chevrolet’s only hope at salvaging some good finishes. There isn’t really much else that RHR can accomplish in Indycar but another 500 would be a great memory for the back half of his career which hasn’t been blessed with many riches.
#21 Ed Carpenter Racing, Rinus Veekay
Finally, a young Dutch driver I can actually cheer for! At only 19 years of age, the same age Marco Andretti made his first start, Veekay is the highest qualifying Chevy and the only Chevy to make the Fast 9. The teenager’s pace has been very impressive, getting near the top of the practice time sheets even when the ECR cars were reportedly struggling for speed. With only one top 10 all season, a win or decent result would do wonders to his morale and reputation because the runs at Indy in practice and qualifying have shown that he has potential. I will be cheering on this young talent along with many others, but it would be funny if Marco pulled a 2006 on him so the hunted becomes the hunter, but that’s just some stupid narrative I don’t honestly care for. Rinus has shown speed, but how will that speed and inexperience stack up against 32 other drivers fighting for the prize of the Borg-Warner Trophy? Who knows, but hopefully many stroopwafels will be eaten and many Golden Earring songs will play on into the night in celebration.
The Front Row:
#30 Rahal-Letterman-Lanigan Racing, Takuma Sato
I take the driver’s remarks that passing will be difficult very seriously this year. Why? Because Takuma Sato said it. You would think that an RLL Honda would be a lock for a good finish. That would be the case if this wasn’t Takuma Sato. If I told you in 2011 that Sato would be a multi-race winner and 500 winner, you would’ve told me to lay off the alcohol. One of the many F1 Japanese washups from the early to mid 2000s, Sato found his footing in America. Even though he has matured as a driver, Sato has one major flaw though: he might be the last living Kamikaze pilot. The man is born without fear. The only upside here is that he now goes back and forth between a top-caliber guy and a man bordering on lolcowdom. He does the thing that is 2012, and then wins Long Beach next year. He makes a stupid move at Pocono in 2019, practically costing Rossi a championship, and then goes out and wins the next week at Gateway holding off a hard charging Ed Carpenter.
In more recent years, Indianapolis has been a strong suit for Takuma. In his 2017 victory, he held off a hungry Helio Castroneves in a race where the Honda reliability was utter garbage. He also got 3rd place last year behind Pagenaud and Rossi. In qualifying, he showed that consistency is key, setting down 4 super clean laps on his way to a front row start. He’ll be someone to watch come race time. Being on the front row however, don’t do anything stupid. The phrase is very cliche but “you can’t win a race on the first lap, but you can sure lose it” (unless you’re Lewis Hamilton). If you try any heroics going into Turn 1 and take out Dixon or Andretti, you might be running down Georgetown St with a mob of pitchforks behind you and be the most hated man in Indycar.
#9 Chip Ganassi Racing, Scott Dixon
It’s plain and simple, Scott Dixon has been mercilessly teabagging on the entire field in 2020. 3 straight wins to start the season and 49 points ahead of the nearest competitor. Normally, he is one to pull surprise championship runs out of his ass like in 2015, not pulling away and cruising by week 1. He is the Kevin Harvick of this series, a man at age 40 with no signs of slowing down. It showed in qualifying. A man with blistering pace, he will be one of the favorites to win it all. I don’t see any flaws in his quest for victory because if your pace doesn’t change going into Indianapolis at all, that’s extremely impressive. If you screw anything up, or anyone else does anything stupid to hurt your chances, then your wife Emma will complain about it until the end of time. It’s basically an Indycar tradition at this point. If you’re gonna get your second 500, it might as well be this year. This whole season seems very similar to 2008.
And the pole sitter for the 104th Running of the Indy 500 is… no, you’re joking. Wait seriously? He’s on pole????
*checks notes\*
HOLY FUUUUUUUUU
#98 Andretti Autosport, Marco Andretti
Marco Andretti is on pole and is the fastest guy in the field. Those are not words you usually hear in the same sentence. But it isn’t a fluke, Marco has been constantly the fastest car and has been the top Andretti car all week. It showed in qualifying where he hit the 240mph mark and beat Dixon’s time by .02 of a second. Perhaps his Uncle John was helping him with the wind and gave him the extra push. The car looks fast and ready to lead the field. It will be the first time an Andretti has taken the pole since grandpa Mario did it in 1987. It was truly a joyous occasion for all.
Over the past 14 years, Marco has taken a lot of shit from everyone, but that’s expected. It’s hard when your dad was one of the best in the CART era and your grandfather is one of the greatest race car drivers to ever live. His surname is a blessing and a curse. A blessing because your name has kept you in the series for so long where others with similar stats wouldn’t be so lucky. A curse because you are constantly given unrealistic expectations. But again, this looks like the real deal for 2020.
This is the perfect storm for a 500 win. Andretti Autosport cars being dominant with Marco being the #1 man, strategist mastermind Bryan Herta who did the unthinkable and brought Rossi and Dan Wheldon to 500 victories on insane strategies, and a wacky 2020 could all lead to the notorious 51-year Andretti Curse finally snapping. With Herta on the box, hopefully Pocono 2013 won’t happen where you had the car to beat only to fuck it up with failed pit strategy and fuel conservation. I don’t think there would be a fan in the series that wouldn’t be happy if you won unless you are a complete pessimistic whiny asshole. Just pray the racing gods won’t be massive dicks and give you 2006 all over again. We all give Marco crap for who he is, but a 500 win would be racing history for all to see and enjoy. This could be the year he pulls it off, especially with one of the best cars on track.
*JINXING TIME\*
My prediction for the 500 is: Scott Dixon. He’s just been so dominant this season that I can’t see a reason why not to pick him. It’s crazy that this man hasn’t won an Indy 500 in 12 years. With a car like he has, he’ll be looking to get that 2nd victory. Hopefully that practice crash won’t kill any momentum. I don’t even think a hater’s guide jinx can stop this electrifying Kiwi. If I’m wrong, I hope I don’t see Emma Dixon waiting at my front door.
\transition**
This Indy 500 will be very different. It’s sad that no fans are in attendance, but it’s for the sake of everyone even if no one looks at it that way. Tons of narratives are in play for Sunday. A man will run his last race while many are making their steps into big leagues. A man looks to run further away with the championship while others look to the race as a point to catch up. Some will run to put an exclamation point on their long careers while others want to win to jumpstart themselves and make their presence known. No matter the scenario, all 33 men will be searching for a common narrative, one that will crown them Indy 500 champion and have their name etched on the Borg-Warner Trophy with milk and wreath in hand and writing their name in the history books. 2020 has been a crazy year so who knows if that will carry over into the racing world. We’ll just have to wait and see. Quick reminder that the Indy 500 will take place on Sunday, August 23rd at 1pm on NBC. Enjoy, everyone!
