Presidential Candidate Rocky Anderson

Discussion for presidential candidate Rocky Anderson
[link]

"In the field of presidential candidates, there is one who is in alignment with most of the Justice Party’s platform, and who is certainly addressing our mission of Social, Economic, and Environmental Justice: Bernie Sanders." --Rocky Anderson (former Salt Lake City mayor), Justice Party

(source)
Background: In 2012, Rocky Anderson, a popular and progressive former SLC mayor who had been highly critical of his own party and President Obama, resigned from the Democratic Party. He started the Justice Party as an alternative to what he saw as a system dominated by two nearly identical parties dominated by corrupt corporate influence. The party's major platform was to reduce corporate influence in politics. He was nominated as the party's presidential candidate and received 43k votes in the 2012 Presidential election.
Rather than running Anderson again this year, in November 2015 the Justice Party polled their membership and decided to endorse Bernie Sanders for President.

The American people have a right to vet those among us who seek the highest office in the land. The Mormon Veil of Secrecy may fly in Salt Lake City, but let us remember, Romney is running for the Presidency of the United States of America not the Mayor of Mormonville.

The American people have a right to vet those among us who seek the highest office in the land. The Mormon Veil of Secrecy may fly in Salt Lake City, but let us remember, Romney is running for the Presidency of the United States of America not the Mayor of Mormonville, so he might want to stop behaving like Shawn Merriman, the other Mormon Madoff and turn over his tax returns. You know the ones, the ones that John McCain reviewed and then chose Sarah Palin as his running mate because she appeared to be the better candidate. The American people thus have a right to review Mitt Romney's tax returns; his contributions to Joseph Smith's loony LDS Mormon Cult notwithstanding. This crap may fly inside certain circles in Salt Lake City but it does not fly in the rest of America.
Why Mitt Romney Won’t Release Tax Returns: Perhaps it is because 1) The 100 million in Mitt's IRA came from the pension funds of the workers that were fired after Romney dismantled their companies, 2) Romney was involved in Swiss Tax Evasion Scandal of 2009 and 3) he paid NO TAXES in certain years.
"While 19th Century con-artist, convicted fraudster and polygamous pedophile, Joseph Smith, the founder of the LDS Mormon Cult, was in jail awaiting trial, an armed mob of men with painted faces stormed the jail and shot him and his brother Hyrum to death". June 27, 1844 marked a turning point for the Latter Day Saint movement, of which theego-maniacal prophet, Joseph Smith was the founder and leader. When he was attacked and killed by a mob, Smith was the mayor of Nauvoo, Illinois, and running for President of the United States. He was killed while jailed in Carthage, Illinois on charges relating to his ordering the destruction of facilities producing the Nauvoo Expositor, a newspaper whose first and only edition claimed Smith was practicing polygamy and that he intended to set himself up as a theocratic king." In short, they were right. Smith did not want that information getting out so he tried to shut down the free press.
Mitt Romney, also a prolific LIAR, wants to be king and much like the ego-maniacal prophet, Joseph Smith he too hopes to rise to the leadership of this nation while defrauding the heartland. Romney will not hang in these times for his endless shape-shifting or his sense of elitist entitlement that allows him to operate under the mistaken belief that he also need not be truthful with the American people simply because he poses as some moral man of god who is a Bishop in the Mormon Church. Joseph Smith, Shawn Merriman and Mitt Romney, ah the wonder of the Mormon Church, otherwise known as the LDS Mormon Cult, for its ability to recycle the con generation after generation. Bernie Madoff has nothing on this trio of dishonest ego-maniacal scoundrels, all blessed "men of god" in the Mormon Cult.

Train up LCC might still be on the table

A Rail Line May Soon Head To Alta
The idea for a cog railway serving a busy Utah recreation destination came into sharper focus this week when proponents unveiled possible alignments and cost estimates that suggest rail could help solve the growing transportation quagmire in Little Cottonwood Canyon. A nine-mile rail line to Alta is the latest high-capacity transit option under consideration for the canyon that sees up to 3 million visitors a year coming to enjoy two world-renowned ski areas and year-round recreation in an alpine setting just outside Salt Lake City. Proponents say rail could do a better job with fewer impacts than the other options being explored by the Utah Department of Transportation, which include expanded bus service, a gondola and road improvements. As an added benefit, a cog rail system, if it’s electrified, could be integrated with existing light-rail transit in the Salt Lake Valley, according to Mike Allegra, a consultant with the Swiss railway design firm Stadler and former president and CEO of the Utah Transit Authority. With 10-minute headways, the system could move 3,000 passengers an hour up the canyon. The run would take 19 minutes to Snowbird and another six minutes to reach Alta. Trains could easily move more passengers than cars, considering only 1,000 vehicles can travel up the canyon per hour even in the best of circumstances, Allegra told the Central Wasatch Commission Monday.
“This is a vision for the future,” he said. “It’s cost effective. It’s going to last us a long time. We believe it accommodates all of the key issues in these canyons that the community has been asking for. It’s safe. It’s environmentally secure. It provides a year-round public use.” During his years as UTA’s CEO, Allegra oversaw a huge expansion of passenger rail, including TRAX lines to West Valley City, South Jordan, Draper and the Salt Lake City International Airport, as well as the extension of FrontRunner commuter rail and construction of the Sugar House streetcar. But his tenure also was marred by a number of controversies, including international travel, excessive bonuses and pay and sweetheart deals with developers. Steep terrain rail
With about 100 in operation around the world, cog railways are employed in steep terrain and are particularly common in the Alps. The most famous one connects Zermatt with the Swiss national rail system. The rail is equipped with cogs that engage a cogwheel on the locomotive so the train can maintain traction. Stadler, whose U.S. operations are based in Salt Lake City, is a leading designer of cog railways and is helping rebuild the one up Colorado’s Pikes Peak. Cog rail recently emerged as an option for Little Cottonwood just as UDOT is settling on a path forward on its transportation plan, which doesn’t even cover the equally crowded neighboring Big Cottonwood Canyon. Most stakeholders insist UDOT’s final vision must take a regional approach, and rail could be a good fit, said Central Wasatch Commission executive director Ralph Becker. A canyon rail system tied to regional transit could ease congestion not just in the canyon, but also in the valley. “If — and it’s a huge if — but if rail could work, it may very significantly reduce vehicular traffic,” said Becker, a former Salt Lake City mayor and avid skier familiar with both canyons and their problems. “That means less air pollution. It also means ease of use and convenience for the passenger who’s going into the mountains.”
The nine-mile line would run from a terminal below the mouth of the canyon near the famed La Caille restaurant to Alta’s Wildcat base area, rising about 3,000 vertical feet. During off-peak times, trains could make “whistle stops” at recreational destinations other than the Snowbird and Alta, such as the White Pine trailhead and Lisa Falls. The Stadler team outlined two potential alignments. One travels along the north edge — or uphill side — of the highway and the other along the south side, closer to the creek. The cost of installing a single track with sidings would be $345 million for the north-side alignment, and $267 million for south side of the road, according to Stadler’s consultant Newell Jensen. The north-side option would be more costly because it passes through various avalanche paths, necessitating the need to construct sheds to keep the track free of slide debris, Jensen said. The southern alignment, by contrast, would skirt around all but the White Pine slide path. “There’s a possibility that there would be an avalanche shed in that particular location,” Jensen told the commission. “Other than that, this line can stay relatively free of avalanche sheds.”
These cost estimate were far lower than those projected by UDOT, whose analysis places the rail away from the existing highway. By contrast, the Stadler proposal incorporates roadway in places where it has been widened to three lanes. “We took advantage of a reduced existing roadway prism to keep the cost of our concept down,” Jensen said, “the philosophy being that the rail system can take a lot of the carrying capacity of the highway, so there’s not as much need for additional passing lanes.” Total costs include an additional $30 million for a 1,500-stall parking structure near La Caille and five trains at $62 million. Electrifying the line, which is necessary to integrate it with TRAX, would cost $81 million. Then tying into TRAX via 9400 South would cost yet another $400 million, for a total price tag around $1 billion. More canyon crowding?
Becker is not alone in wondering whether the high-capacity transit options under consideration could just wind up making Little Cottonwood even more crowded and necessitate massive parking structures near its mouth. “Our concern is that we’re looking at basically a fully functioning road, plus another 3,000 to 5,000 per hour [riding trains or gondolas]. You could conceivably surpass the canyon’s capacity in just a few hours under some of these options,” said Carl Fisher, executive director of the environmental group Save Our Canyons. “You can’t really separate land use and transportation. What do these high-capacity options do in terms of driving development in these canyons? That’s our primary consideration, the numbers of people and the amount of development that those people will require.” Save Our Canyons has been pushing for expanded bus service, but the group could get behind rail if it eliminates all but essential vehicle traffic in the canyon and connects to regional transit, according to Fisher. Alta Mayor Harris Sondak was alarmed that the train’s pathway would virtually brush against various homes in a neighborhood situated along the creek between the two ski areas. “I don’t have a great sense of how it goes up the Bypass Road and through to the Peruvian,” said Sondak, who serves on the commission. “My concern is how is this going to come into my town. A train going by someone’s home every 10 minutes is going to piss them off.”
To avoid running the line past homes, the line could terminate at Snowbird Village and Alta-bound skiers could travel the last mile by shuttle bus or gondola. Or the rail could be tunneled under town. That’s what the Swiss would do.

Housewife highlights/Daily shit talk - January 29th, 2021

ORANGE COUNTY
"In a new Tweet, Real Housewives of Orange County star Kelly Dodd went after blogger Perez Hilton.
On January 5, Hilton tweeted a clip of him advertising his services on Cameo, which is a website that allows users to buy short, custom-made video clips from various celebrities and media personalities. However, it looks like Dodd will not be buying a Cameo from Hilton anytime soon. In response to Hilton’s tweet, Dodd slammed his appearance, writing, “Summer teeth some here some are there!! Get braces because you’re nasty.”
"Andy Cohen doesn’t want “Real Housewives of Orange County” to go anywhere.
A tweet calling for the cancellation of the Bravo series caught the attention of both Meghan McCain and Cohen, though they had different feelings about the reality show.
“It’s time to cancel RHOC,” Evan Ross Katz tweeted Thursday morning.
“Yes,” McCain, 36, replied.
“I think you mean reBOOT,” Cohen, 52, responded to both.
Cohen and McCain continued their back-and-forth, with “The View” co-host requesting a reboot of “The Real Housewives of D.C.”
“I have thoughts…. also since I have both of your attention and currently live in the beltway – please Reboot DC housewives PLEASE!” McCain begged.
“I loved RHDC,” Cohen replied."
NEW YORK
"Former “RHONY” star Barbara Kavovit already has some Bravolebrities ready to support her — even if they aren’t eligible to vote for her in the upcoming New York City mayoral race.
Kavovit announced her run on Wednesday after telling Page Six exclusively in September that she was considering campaigning — and some “Housewives” immediately expressed support.
“Barb is one of the most bad-ass, progressive, intelligent women that I know,” Braunwyn Windham-Burke told Page Six via email. “There’s nobody better than Barb to get the job done.”
The “Real Housewives of Orange County” star, 43, and Kavovit, who is the CEO of Evergreen Construction, hung out together in the Hamptons this summer after meeting at BravoCon in November 2019.
Meanwhile, “RHONJ” star Margaret Josephs commented on Kavovit’s Instagram post announcing her run, “Yea!!! I wish I lived in NYC so I could vote! But I will be campaigning for you!! 🙌🎉💃💋👧🏼.” “Real Housewives of Dallas” star D’Andra Simmons sent Kavovit heart emojis.
As of press time, none of Kavovit’s former “RHONY” cast mates had commented on the Instagram post.
The New York City mayoral election will take place in November 2021."
DALLAS
"Paging Dr. Moon. Tiffany Moon can save your life but not your reputation, and she’s already proved that in her first few episodes of The Real Housewives of Dallas.
Tiffany, a 36-year-old anesthesiologist, is the newest Housewife on season 5 of the Bravo series, which also stars Stephanie Hollman, Brandi Redmond, Kameron Westcott, D’Andra Simmons, Kary Brittingham and Jennifer Davis Long. It’s been less than a month since RHOD season 5 premiered, but Tiffany has already become a Housewives favorite for her feud with Kameron over none other than chicken feet. The drama started on episode 2 when Tiffany took the women to dim sum and made them try chicken feet, which Kameron refused to eat.
“I was excited because she is Kameron Westcott,” Tiffany tells StyleCaster. “She is the queen of pink and a Dallas socialite and how funny would it be if she just put a little phalange in her mouth? Certainly she’s had worse things in her mouth.”
And so what did Kameron do with the chicken feet Tiffany served her? She secretly put the dim sum item in a bowl on the floor, which Tiffany didn’t know until she watched the episode. “Sometimes my kids feed food they don’t like from the table to the dogs, so she’s basically acting like my 6 year old,” Tiffany says. “She could’ve just set aside. She didn’t have to set it on the floor. But if she’s going to be the queen of etiquette at restaurants, is that part of the etiquette book that she read?”
Ahead, Tiffany talked to StyleCaster about Chicken Feet Gate, her friendship with past RHOD LeeAnne Locken, who she’s not talking to from the cast and why she thinks she may be a “one-hit wonder” in the Housewives universe.
On how she was cast on RHOD
“D’Andra has been on the show for several years, and I am good friends with her and Mama Dee. Years ago, after D’Andra’s first season, they told me, ‘Oh, Tiffany, you would be good on Housewives. You have a sharp tongue and quick wit.’ I was always like, ‘No. I have young children. I’m a full-time physician. Even if I did want to do it, there’s just no time in my life.’ At the bottom of 2019, I remember being in front of a Christmas tree tand something changed in me. I thought, ‘I’m going to be 35 years old. Everything I’ve ever done in my life has been by the book. I’ve always been a good girl. Why don’t I do something a little naughty for once? Why don’t I go hang out with my sassy girlfriends and take trips and have fun memories?’ Because it’s not everyday you get an opportunity like this. So I said, ‘You know what? Let’s do it. Why the heck not?’”
On her relationship with RHOD alum LeeAnne
“I’m really good friends with some of LeeAnne’s best friends. I know her. I’ve been at charity events with her. She emcees a lot of charity events in Dallas. She’s always been very kind and gracious to me, so I can only speak on my personal interactions with her. She did not reach out to me [when I was cast] and I did not reach out to her.”
On why she had to address Brandi’s racist video
“I wanted to have that conversation with Brandi because I felt that, as a Asian American and an immigrant, I wanted to put a face to the racism. I never once thought she was racist or meant to shoot that video with malicious intent. I wanted her to understand why people could be so offended by that video. I thought, ‘How serendipitous I’m here now and I have this moment to make it a teachable moment to her, so she can understand how something she regarded as a silly joke could actually really hurt someone.’ That’s why I decided to tell my story about coming to America and being made fun of in that way.”
On Kameron shading her for not having a centerpiece
“The centerpiece thing is just ridiculous. Have you ever been to a dim sum restaurant with a centerpiece? That’s obviously where we put the chili and the vinegar and the soy sauce, and usually the lazy Susan isn’t that huge. I mean, when I eat dim sum with my family, there’s no space for a centerpiece because the whole table is full of food. So she can criticize all day long for poor hosting etiquette, but never ever have I read in an etiquette book that one must have a centerpiece while hosting dim sum brunch at 10 a.m.”
On Stephanie calling her “obnoxious” for showing her closet
“I was really caught off by being called obnoxious because she and D’Andra asked to see the closet. I think it’s part of Housewives culture to do a little house and closet tour. I don’t think I’m the first one ever to take people inside my closet and show off a few of my favorite things. I did not mean to come across as a showoff or braggy or obnoxious. It rubbed me so much the wrong way when she called me obnoxious, especially when she had a closet tour not too long ago."
On why she was really offended by Kameron’s chicken feet comments
“When she was like, ‘You’re stereotyping your country,’ I was like, ‘I’m not stereotyping anything.’ We across China eat all sorts of food, including chicken feet. It’s not that she wouldn’t eat the foot really. The part that upset me was she was like, ‘Oh. Um. Does anyone have a barf bag?’ It’s insulting when you try to share your culture with someone and they have such a strong negative reaction to something that is commonplace for your culture. It’s on my kitchen table on any given weekend when we have dim sum. That was the part that I felt offended by. Not that she wouldn’t eat the foot necessarily, but that she would have such a strong reaction to it, that she was disgusted by it.”
On Kary pushing her in the pool even though she can’t swim
“I still to this day do not know the purpose of what pushing me into the pool was. She was like, ‘Hey Tiffany, come here for a second.’ And then the next thing I know I was in the pool with all my clothes on. Thank God I wasn’t holding my Birkin, I would’ve been pissed. I don’t have fun by pushing other people into pools, especially when I know they can’t swim. I’m up for silly antics. I don’t like antics that border on mean. I was in a sort of expensive outfit that I had bought on purpose solely for this event because Kam said we’re doing an all-white event. I went out and bought something special, and it was pretty ruined. I took it to the dry cleaners and he was like, ‘What happened!’ I was like, ‘I got pushed into a pool!’ He said, ‘I’ll do the best I can with it.’ But the linen didn’t come out right. I have never been to a birthday party next to a pool and been intentionally pushed into a pool ever in my life.”
On Kary calling her a snake on Twitter
“I thought we were done after Tuesday night. I was like, ‘Signing off. Thanks everyone for live tweeting with me.’ Then Wednesday morning, I finished my first surgery and went to go sit down and have a cup of coffee and this alert came up. I was like, ‘Oh, I guess we’re not done.’ She’s pushed me in a pool, she’s called me a hypocrite, she’s called me COVID girl. There’s some level of jokingness among the group that’s fine. Calling me a snake is not fine. I was viscerally upset at that comment. Also, this is my honest opinion. That necklace is hideous. I can’t believe you’re selling it for $1,400. My children have made better things and brought them home to me. So I was like, ‘Well, how do I turn this negative into a positive?’ I had recently been dealing with the death of my dog, Max. He had a freak accident and had emergency surgery and then died. I love being charitable either with my money or my time. Since she said snake, I was like, ‘Oh, what can we think about for snakes?’ It popped into my head. Instead of buying this hideous necklace, I would instead donate the exact amount to the SPCA in honor of my poor Max. So I did, and I screenshotted the receipt to prove it.”
On who she’s not talking to from the cast
"The only person I have not spoken to is Kary. I have spoken to everyone else. Brandi is doing well. She is very pregnant and is gonna pop any day now hopefully. Stephanie was just over here the other day. She tried bubble tea for the first time and really liked it. D’Andra, I dropped off Chinese food and pajamas for her when she was in the COVID unit prior to New Years. We probably talk on the phone every other day. Her assistant dropped off a thank you card for me yesterday. Jen, I talk to here and there, but she’s going through a divorce, so I’m trying to give her some space. Kam, yesterday was her birthday, so I bought her some Hermes scarves and a beautiful floral arrangement. I called my florist and I said, ‘I need it to be luxurious, big and pink.’ And they made that happen. I signed the card from all of us, the other six ladies, and went and dropped that off at her new home.I’ve seen everybody except Kary. I’ve not texted her, seen her, called her, anything. Even though she did not contribute to the group gift, I still put her name on the card. So there.”
On why she may not be returning next season
“I don’t know. I might be a little bit of a one-hit wonder. It was a lot in terms of the time away from my family because normally I work and when I’m not working, I’m with my family. But this time, I was at work, and when I wasn’t working, I was working, so I didn’t see my family for much over the summer. Ask me again in 12 or 13 weeks when it all finishes. I’m not sure I’m the sort of Housewife that people want to continue seeing. I have no idea.”
"On January 27, Tiffany took to Instagram to celebrate her new position. “So honored to be elected to be the next Secretary and Treasurer of the Trauma Anesthesiologist Society,” the physician wrote alongside a photo of a press release.
Tiffany went on to add, “I'm so excited and want to thank my fellow colleagues that have trusted me with this new role.”
As noted in the announcement, the Trauma Anesthesiologist Society is a medical organization that “seeks to advance the art and science of trauma anesthesiology and all related fields through education and research.”
SALT LAKE CITY
“Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Meredith Marks credits the show — and therapy — with the revitalization of her marriage to Seth Marks.
“I think I’m probably the only one in the world who can say ‘Housewives,’ coupled with COVID, saved my marriage,” she told Page Six in a recent interview.
Marks, who separated quietly from Seth while filming the Bravo show in 2019 before reconciling, said quarantine ended up being “really good” for the couple.
“I think had [the pandemic] happened six months prior, it would have ended in divorce,” she said. “But because we had gone through this whole process, both in our marital therapy and the process of ‘Housewives’ — which really forced us to communicate in ways that we really had just been avoiding and denying — we were at a place already by the time that COVID hit, where we were actually really communicating with each other well and understanding and respecting each other’s feelings, which had not been the case for years.”
Marks also thanks the couple’s therapist for helping them reconnect, after explaining on the show that they had “disconnected” throughout their 25 years of marriage.
“… Anyone I know who’s getting married, I have strongly encouraged them to go into therapy prior to getting married,” she added. “It was such a process for us learning how to communicate and respect one another’s feelings rather than criticize or get defensive or whatever.”
And while Meredith has heard of the supposed “Housewives” curse when it comes to divorce, she hopes to take one critical step to avoid becoming part of that ill-fated group.
“That’s part of the reason we will not do a vow renewal. I’m not pushing my luck here,” she laughed. “If we ever decide to, it’s definitely not going to be on television. It will be very private.”

  34. A religious play about candles, fire safety, and how flammable certain orphans' parents are.
  35. The bonfire leaping competition. Loser dies by third degree burns, but doesn't have to live with the knowledge that their failure had a good chance of failing to resurrect the Sun in the coming year.
  36. The Feast of Ice. All the orphans sit around the table and try to eat as many icicles as they can before the hourglass runs out and they are forced back to hard-labor. Losers have to go home hungry; as do the winners.
  37. Naked Ice Sumo Wrestling. Nothing like a little rancid bear grease and freezing water to really get the ol' adrenaline flowing! Followed by a soggy loin-cloth competition.
  38. The Hunt of the Wren. For some reason, a hundred and so years ago, the local clerics declared that human sacrifices were required in order to survive the Winter Famine. A sacrificial victim was chosen from the Orphans, according to rumor, named 'Wren'. The orphan was crowned Ruler for the Day and treated to the best meal the starving locals could afford. Later that night, Wren escaped and was never seen again. The whole village was out, calling for Wren, but never found them. Lots of people died that year, and even the Clerics died, and the whole town ate them to survive. Ever since then, at this time of year, the whole village searches for Wren, and then when noone finds them, the village goes to the local cleric's house and, you'd never believe it, there has never not been a feast prepared since then! It's a Winter Festival Miracle!
  39. Shoot the Festival Star! Every year, someone shoots down the star placed at the top of the Winter Festival Tree, and the mayor gives them a 100 gold reward. For the last ten years it has been a group of bandits that pull off the lucky shot. This year's gonna be my turn.
  40. The rich people hire waifs to stand outside thier windows as a sort of badge of honor. A silver penny for a bit of sorrowful sniffling for an hour or so? Sign me up!
  41. The Burning of the Festival Goat. For the last one hundred years, the Clerics of the Goat God Temple have tried to outdo the Clerics of the Sun God Temple by building an enormous goat out of straw. They try to guard it until after New Years, but it always burns before then. All Hail the Sun God!
  42. An alchemist selling lesser potions that keep people warm for a few hours (these aren't strong enough to give resistance to cold damage, but you definitely can tell the toasty-warm difference after drinking it). Due to the relatively easy-to-find ingredients for the potions, they're quite reasonably priced.
  43. An area set up for a snowball fight, even with a wooden fence around it. (the area is used for training horses in the warmer months.)
  44. A temporarily awakened snowman/snow golem next to the road/path who's happy to socialize . They're aware their time being sentient is limited, but this only drives them to have even more fun with the time they have.
  45. A play about the story of an adventuring party who defeated a cruel ice dragon ages ago. A few mages are helping with the special effects.
  46. A lodge where big game hunters gather to sell and brag about there most recent kills. It has a warm, cozy atmosphere if you don’t mind the many, many monster heads adorning the walls.

    • Orange Chocolates - They are shaped and colored like the fruit known as an orange but they taste exactly like chocolate.
    • Tennover Topple - A game on a walled, slanted table with 30 pegs. 5 pegs are not secured to the table and fall over with a small nudge. You slide a weighted disk down the table using only gravity in an attempt to knock down all 5 pegs in one go.
    • Snow's Piercer - A pop-up shop which sells the finest tools to manage snowfall near your home and business. Specialty shovels, flame throwers, and coarsely ground salt are among the wares hawked here.
  47. My game has festivals, and we have a waffle stand - it’s called the Awful Waffle, and it serves different random things waffled. Somehow it’s become beloved by the players and I’ve looked up a million waffle recipes. (Sweet potato waffles, cinnamon roll waffles, tater tot waffles, falafel waffles.)
  48. Ice Tavern – What it sounds like, a tavern built out of ice, like the ice hotel in Jukkasjarvi, Sweden.
  49. Waffle Stand – Serves hot, fresh baked waffles.
  50. Release of the floating lanterns – After dark the villagers/city folk gather and light lanterns made of very thin and light paper so the heat from the flame makes them lighter than the surrounding cold air and so they float up into the night sky.
  51. Stand serving heated wine containing local spices that makes it a little sweet, served with raisins and almonds. None of these are my ideas. I kinda grabbed these off the Internet and some other sources. I don’t remember where they came from but wanted to share some good ideas.
  52. Greased Pig Catching Cannot be completed without being unencumbered (movement rate of 25 or better) Individual initiatives for all contestants involved, each gets a chance to catch the pig in order of initiative (roll to hit AC 18, after all, it’s a greased pig you are trying to grab bare-handed), and must then roll successfully against Strength and Dexterity, failing either roll allows the pig to escape. Continue round-to-round until the pig
  53. No Holds Barred Racing This assumes all racers have the same movement rate, otherwise the whole thing is pointless. Make a fifty-space “track”, each competitor starts off at one end. Roll individual initiatives for each racer. Move racers their Initiative roll spaces each round. A racer can try to trip, grab, or otherwise screw up another racer by taking a -2 penalty on his racing roll and making an attack roll against the target who must be within 2 spaces. If the attack succeeds, the target suffers a -4 penalty on his racing roll (cannot be less than 0).
  54. Punch Drunk This paired “game” involves drinking a flagon of ale, then punching the opponent in the face. After each drink roll a save versus poison, or suffer a -2 on all further rolls this competition. After each punch, roll a save versus paralysis (with your opponent’s Strength bonus as a penalty) or be knocked on your ass and be out of the match. A breather between rounds allows you to reduce your drunken penalties from failed saves against the ale by 2 before taking on one of the other winners of the previous round.
  55. Dragon's Revenge Contestants fill their mouths with liquor and then spit it through a torch at a small cloth target made up to look like a knight. Roll to hit with this missile weapon (with a -4 penalty for not normally having training in spit-based weapon systems) against an AC of 13 (small target). But just hitting the target isn’t enough – it has to be flambeed. Roll 1d4 damage for the flaming alcohol. The target has 3 hit points.
  56. Fire Juggling Must successfully juggle balls of fire for longer than the other 1d12 contestants. Each contestant rolls initiative and turns go in that order. Each round, the contestants juggles an additional ball of fire, starting at 1. Must roll your Dex + Acrobatics - (# of balls of fire) or lower to successfully juggle for the round. (eg, Dex of 14, Acrobatics of 4, round 3. Must roll less than or equal to 14+4-3 = 15 )
  57. What's that Smell? 1d20 contestants are seated at a table with blindfolds on. Each round, something will put put in front of their nose and each contestant must guess what it is. Players are welcome to say anything from normal to absolutely absurd things. Last one around wins. Contestants must roll 1d20 to see if they were right. On a roll of 10 - Perception, they were correct. On being incorrect, they get one more try. If both attempts are failed, they are knocked out. The DM is expected to reveal an absolutely completely absurd thing as the right answer. (eg, roasted dragon's thigh, pickled basilisk lips, a dwarf's bum, etc.)
  58. Up and Over Contestants must successfully hurdle increasingly tall obstacles while running. This is a sprint. First to hurdle height of 20 wins! All contestants go at the same time. Must successfully roll 1d20 higher than (Height - Acrobatics) to hurdle, starting with Height of 5 and increasing by 1 every round. (eg. round 5 with Acrobatics of 2, roll minimum of 10 - 2 = 8 ). On a failed hurdle, you must keep trying to jump that height. (after jumping 5, must jump 6, then 7, then 8, etc. until jumping over 20 all as fast as everyone can)
  59. Ball Under the Cups Two contestants against each other. One is the Deceiver and one is the Perceiver. Deceiver has 4 cups and places a ball under one and then shuffles the cups. Each round, contestants swap as perceiver and deceiver. First to 5 points wins. Deceiver must attempt to hide the ball from the Perceiver in any way possible, either by moving the cups quickly or by attempting to completely remove the ball from the table. Deceiver rolls 1d4 either way, but the number is only important if they kept the ball on the table. Someone else (likely DM) must be aware of the Deceiver's choice. Perceiver gets (Perception - 1 - [Deceiver's Sleight of Hand] ) attempts (min 1) to guess where the ball is. Off the table, 1, 2, 3, or 4. When guessed correct, Perceiver gets 1 point. If it was correctly guessed Off the Table, perceiver gets 2 points. If wrong all attempts, Deceiver gets 1 point. If wrong all attempts and was off the table, Deceiver gets DM's choice.
  60. Hot soup in a bowl made of ice
  61. Goose cooked in the style of Bacon
  62. A Honey popsicle that is very attractive to bugs of all sizes
  63. Spicy Cabbage
  64. Guess the number of ferrets in a hole in a town park
  65. Extinguishing 10 candles in a room while blindfolded as quickly as possible
  66. who can wear the most clothes for ten minutes straight
  67. Icicle carving contest: first, contestants find the largest single icicle they can, then make an ice sculpture using only their single icicle and an ordinary hammer and chisel to do so. The winner's sculpture gets used as the centerpiece for the feast table that night.
  68. Snowball based bottle game: contestants get three snowballs per try, and have to knock over a stack of bottles, some of which may be frozen together. Offers packets of tea/cocoa that can be added to hot water(available elsewhere)
  69. Moose grazing: a particularly odd game, halfway between a contest and a kids game. Contestants must wear a hat with large, heavy antlers, then attempt to find a small item hidden under the snow, and must be on their hands and knees the whole time. There is a small group of adults who have set up a more difficult version, and they are oddly competitive about it.
  70. Some kind of magically frozen flavoured sherbet, in different colours of the rainbow!
  71. Stealing from the winter festival my DM ran last week:
  72. Snap-dragon: Place heated brandy in a large shallow bowl and light it up, then drop raisin in. Take turns trying to snatch a raisin out and eat it without burning your fingers or mouth.
  73. Feuerzangenbowle: soak a large cone of sugar in run, then place it on tongs above a vat of mulled wine. Light the sugar on fire and let it melt into the holiday punch.
  74. Mimic toss: a set of tamed mimics are laid out on the ground, with their mouths open. Pay your gold to get three chances to toss a ball into their mouths. Get all three shots in and you win the big teddy bear. The balls are, of course, sized slightly larger than the mimic's can swallow. A natural 20 on your toss will lead to the ball getting lodged in and you must try to get it back out before the mimic chokes.
  75. Has maple taffy been suggested yet? You pour boiling maple sap onto snow and then pick it up with a stick. A lot of places in Canada do it, it’s really neat (and totally delicious).
  76. Whittles Wooden Birds, a small stall form a traveling merchant named Whittle. The stall is run by a 35 year old gnome he sells various wooden birds as wells as a few rats and fish. If anyone asks if he sells dice or some sort of game pieces he will turn pale and deny every doing such a thing and timidly try to get them to leave him alone before closing.
  77. He was the victim of a cult cursing a dice set he made into summoning a demon and now he is on the run form anyone who brings it up this was just an idea in my head that I came up with so if you want to add it to you're game you could change the reason.
  78. A winter wonderland cafe served by snowmen. Ytsorf is a dwarven summoner, with strong magic he controls snowmen to walk around and serve the customers.
  79. Background if you want the option for a longer plot. In actuality he is a necromancer using the corpses of some children that recently vanished. A insight of 16 or higher will find the light scent of rotting flesh or a droplet of blood seeping through the snow.
  80. Snow show - Guest wizards who can cause the snow to turn different shimmering colors as it falls, while others cause it to glow or glitter. They put on a 15 minute show at the top of the hour. Winter is beautiful.
  81. Dragon teeth - the casting of runes by crone witches as the telling of a PC's fortune of the year.
  82. Pop-snaps - small firecrackers pulled by two participants that give a snap and a few small sparks, spewing forth small paper toys and perhaps a copper or two if you are lucky
  83. Hot Spiced Rum - Fire rum warms the coldness within. Drinking with a buddy or in a contest is most welcome during the festival. For some, that's the whole point.
  84. Tales by the fire - Large bonfires are lit to warm the gathering spaces, to ward off the cold and to remind the festival goers that the sun hasn't deserted them forever. Bards and elders gather to tell young'uns and all who would listen about the oldest stories they know, the founding of their village maybe or what they've seen in their many years.
  85. Snowshoe and ski hut - A place to rent snow gear for the day. For an extra fee, you can catch a sleigh ride up a large hill, where you can join the pandemonium of children sledding, skiing and otherwise rolling downhill. Watch out for Timmy!
  86. Butterscotch soup - Ya'think it might be a bit too sweet for you, but there is just something soul-warming about the flavor.
  87. Parsnip root - Giving one of these as a treat to your herbivore mount is better than your average carrot. Kinda got a spice to it, livens them right up on a cold morning. Rumour is that the winning sleigh team eats them every morning for breakfast.
  88. Potluck Feast - All the townspeople bring their favorite casseroles to share...odd dishes with some of the wackiest flavor combinations that you can imagine. Carrion Worm Curry? 7-Day Surprise? an Odd Jello that looks like a monster you fought recently? But it is a feast, so pile it on!
What else would y'all include?

Housewife highlights/Daily shit talk - January 28th, 2021

SALT LAKE CITY
"Mary Cosby entered The Real Housewives canon with a bang… well, a whiff. A whiff of "hospital smell." With an unexpected dig at co-star Jen Shah ("You smell like hospital"), the pastor with a passion for fashion cemented herself in the reality TV annals… but then, she slowly showed up less and less in each new episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City's freshman run, leaving viewers perplexed, wanting to know, where is Mary?!
"I don't know that people want more Mary," Mary herself quips to ET over video chat from her Utah home. "However, I want more Mary."
There is speculation out there that Mary was only a "friend of" during filming of RHOSLC, turned into a full-time Housewife when it came time to edit the episodes. While Mary won't divulge whether that was the case, she does offer a hint.
"How can I say this without being blunt?" she ponders. "It just wasn't purposely done, but they kind of tried to fade Mary out and didn't know Mary was going to be more wanted."
Mary missed out on a group snowmobiling trek, a few dinners and, most surprising, the all-cast trip to Las Vegas, but she says she's not one to get FOMO. Most of Mary's appearances have been solo, at home with her husband, Robert, Sr., their son, Robert, Jr., her housekeepecousin Charlinda and copious amounts of clothing in almost every room; she seems to only interact with the other women over FaceTime -- and that's seemingly by design, on Mary's part. According to her, any opportunity she had to avoid on-screen foe Jen, she took.
"I feel like if I go in to do an event, or go to do something fun or enjoyable, dinner and vacation, that’s super touchy," she offers. "I'm gonna go with someone I enjoy, someone that enjoys me. That sounds fun. But to go with this group? Every escape was, like, literally an escape for me. I was like, ahhh! Especially when I didn't have to go to Vegas. I was so happy, I was so relieved, 'cause I didn't wanna be in trouble. I want to abide by the rules, but … no, I didn't feel left out and I was at peace, very happy."
Mary did have to face the ladies in-person at the season 1 reunion, taped in New York City earlier this month. Ahead of the shoot, Mary appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen and let it slip she hadn't been keeping up with watching the episodes. She says she wound up binging the season after that in order to get up to speed for reunion day.
"I think what surprised me was when I wasn't on [the episodes]," Mary admits when asked what she learned by finally watching the show. "The spark that comes with me. Oh, is that bad? … Like, my absence? It's clearly there."
Mary says the 12-hour filming day warrants a three-part reunion, as the women worked through all the issues from their debut outing. She says there will be resolution to the drama she sparked for the rest of the cast after claiming Lisa Barlow and Meredith Marks are "afraid of Jen" ("Does Mary Cosby lie? No, she does not lie," she purrs, alluding to where things go), as well as a number of unexpected apologies. Mary says she both gave and received apologies, which might mean a truce for her and Jen. When Bravo released the cast photo from the shoot, Mary and Jen were side by side and smiling -- but Mary's lips are (mostly) sealed.
"It's safe to say that says something, it says progress," she teases, but also notes she does not regret the "you smell like hospital" comment in the least. She says the remark, which Mary made before filming started, was never directed at Jen, like Jen assumed (Jen had been looking after her sick aunt, who underwent a double amputation on her legs around this time). In fact, Mary is adamant that she said "it smells like hospital," speaking about the general atmosphere of the restaurant she was in with Jen and Meredith at the time, not Jen nor her aunt. Mary also claims she had no idea about Jen's aunt's condition, nor their close bond, until after the fact.
"No regrets," she declares. "I know my motive, I know where I was coming from. It can [seem like] a dig, and I see that, how it can come across as rude. What I do regret, probably, is the way I got so frustrated. I feel like I was being blamed for her [aunt's] legs and it was for all year, before we even aired. So, as soon as it aired I was like, I am not responsible."
Mary's distaste for the scent of medical buildings left viewers a little confused, though, seeing as a few episodes into the season, fans spotted Mary’s housekeeper, Charlinda, clad in scrubs and delivering Mary a meal on a tray, each item individually wrapped in cellophane as if it came from a hospital cafeteria. Mary says that's always how she's taken her food, a germ-free style of serving she learned from her late grandmother, Rosemary.
"It's how we were raised," she says, noting that when she was in the hospital herself to have "all [her] odor glands removed," her meals actually came on a cart and under cloche domes, like room service at a hotel.
As for Charlinda, Mary's cousin whom she claimed to not actually know all that well, despite being her employee for two decades? She's no longer in the picture.
"I don't know, she got the green eye and she turned on me and she left," Mary reveals. "She lived with me rent free for 20 years and then to turn on me it's, like, I really don’t know who she is."
While she still doesn't know Charlinda, Mary says she's never been more sure of who she (meaning Mary) is as a person. She says it's a relief for her story to be out in the world.
"This is Mary, and you accept Mary and her life or you don't," she says. "I don't have to hide. I don't have to steal. I don't have to cheat. I don't have to be someone I'm not -- and not only do I live by those morals every day, but now I can live it to the world."
Mary's home life became a hot topic as soon as her Bravo bio hit the internet, Housewives fans honing in on one a quick line about how Mary is married to her one-time step-grandfather. It was her grandmother's wish that Mary take over her life -- the church she pastored, the businesses she ran, the homes she owned and, yes, even her marriage -- upon her death. As Mary said when the revelation made its way to TV, "Don't think it wasn't weird, 'cause it was! But I did it because I trusted my grandmother, and I'm so glad I did it."
"Life's just going to take you where you're supposed to go," Mary says. "It's up to you to follow it. [Joining the show] felt good. It felt right. I’m like, people think I'm weird [already]. They say it behind my back, they talk behind my back, let me just tell them in their face: This is Mary and, yes, I am married to my grandmother's ex-husband. How about that?"
Ahead of the season, Mary joined The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice for an Instagram Live, and proclaimed she had no skeletons in her closet. Then, allegations and accusations about Mary's life popped up online, with Reddit threads running rampant with rumors that Mary runs a cult, lives off of tithings given to the church by its parishioners, and only preached for the congregation when TV cameras showed up. She says it's all just nonsense.
"Clearly I’m not gonna get on national television, be a Housewife and be in a cult," Mary scoffs. "Like, come on. I believe in my church."
"They've been saying that since my grandmother started at the church," she says of the cult allegation. "There's no cult. ... My church members, they know those are false allegations. Those are ridiculous. It’s the people that are looking for fault."
Alleged audio of Mary demanding her congregation to give more offerings recently surfaced online, but Mary says she never takes funds from the church for personal use. The parish does believe in tithings, however, but that money stays at the church. It's not Mary's.
"That's so cruel," she says of the idea she would steal from the temple. "I feel like it's so judgmental, because I am African American and a woman and I do have an eye for finer things in life."
"I have intelligent church members and they know that was all to God," she adds. "I'm so not in it for the money. Oh my goodness, I believe in what I do, I believe in what I'm saying, and I love my church and I love what they are. … Money can't fulfill that, not for me."
Mary says she's happy to provide proof that she's preached at Faith Temple Church for more than 20 years, promising she would never have filmed one of her sermons for the show just as a performance. As for where her own money actually comes from, Mary says one, she's "blessed" by generational wealth passed down by her family and two, she and her husband own a number of businesses, including a successful printing company, which focuses on large-scale jobs, like billboards and mass production of shopping bags.
"But it's not like I just have money coming out of the walls," she cautions. "These [designer] things that I have are collector pieces."
Mary's "designer things" have also been much-talked about, as she shows up on the show in out-of-the-box fashions -- for the record, her favorite look is the one she wore to Park City Fashion Week, and she "hated" her makeup at the reunion, which is why she says she FaceTuned her posts from that day so much. On a recent episode, Mary revealed more than one room in her house doubles as a closet. Co-star Whitney Rose dubbed Mary a "high-end hoarder." While Mary threw out the idea of renting out a condo for a closet, she says she’s yet to pull the trigger, which would actually make for a fun season 2 story… that is, if she comes back for round two.
"I don't know if I'll do this again," she confesses. "That's a strong question, and I think I need a little harvesting. I think it's premature. I mean, would they want me back?"
Yes, Mary, they would."
ORANGE COUNTY
"RHOC alum Jo De La Rosa has revealed her father, Juan, died aged 63 from Covid.
The devastated reality star, 40, said she buried her 15-year feud with Juan shortly before he died of the virus last week.
Jo - who starred in the first four seasons of RHOC - shared a video montage of sweet photos with Juan on Instagram, which she titled, "The Story Of Us".
"It is with the heaviest of hearts I share I lost my dad to Covid last week," she wrote.
"This pandemic has been life-changing for many people and unfortunately, Covid won this time. My father, Juan Carlos Contreras, was only 63."
The Bravo star added: "I’ve never cried more tears in my life than these last few days but today, I want to celebrate him and remember all the happy times we shared so I made a video called 'The Story of Us' which captures our story when my mom met him all the way until they got divorced."
Jo described Juan as "the type of person that would walk into a room and instantly capture people’s attention".
"He was the most charming, outgoing, playful and most 'people person' of all people persons you would’ve ever met," she said.
"He was a high school teacher, the most gifted musician, and had the silliest personality which I now realize is where I get it from. To put it simply, he was JOY."
Jo explained that her mother met Juan "at 14 as her guitar teacher and they fell in love through music ".
"He could do no wrong in my eyes and although my heart is filled with so much love for him, it’s also shattered and feels so heavy for not being able to reconcile sooner as it’s been 15 years since we last spoke," she added.
Jo explained that she ended their estrangement with an email when she found out Juan was ill - but isn't sure if he ever got it.
"That’s as much as my heart can share about our situation but I sent him an email when I found out he was in the hospital. In it, I told him I loved him and I wanted him back in my life," she explained.
"I don’t know if he ever got it but I was reminded by one of my best friends I’ll see him in Heaven again one day and we’ll have the rest of eternity to be able to reconcile. Thank you Doni for that truth as your words have been a light in my darkness."
She concluded: "To my dad - I love you. I forgive you. You meant absolutely everything to me. I can’t wait to see you when God finally calls me and says it’s time.
"All I want is to be able to tell you see you again and tell you these words face to face."
Jo shared a series of heartwarming memories of her and Juan, including them playing guitar and piano together, as well as posing in front of a Christmas tree and out in the snow."
"Kelly Dodd may be done with “The Real Housewives of Orange County.”
The Positive Beverage founder, 45, said in an Instagram Live that she would not return to the Bravo series if castmate Braunwyn Windham-Burke comes back for Season 16.
“I know I cannot film with Braunwyn,” she started telling fans in the Instagram Live (captured by a fan account). “I know for a fact that I cannot film with her. There’s just no way and if she comes back then I’m out because I know for a fact that I cannot. She’s dangerous and calling people racists and homophobic.”
Dodd and Windham-Burke, 43, have been at odds since Dodd accused the mom of seven of using her sobriety for a storyline. She also questioned Windham-Burke’s decision to come out as a lesbian after over two decades of marriage to her husband, Sean Burke.
Off camera, Dodd accused Windham-Burke of once being placed under a 5150 psychiatric hold, a claim Windham-Burke denied.
Dodd added, “And … saying I’m a bad mom, I’m running around, like, traveling, well I was traveling, yes, but I was also selling two homes. And thank God I did because I’d be stuck with four mortgages, right?”
She then took a jab at Windham-Burke, adding, “I wasn’t going to party it up with the Salt Lake City chicks.”
Windham-Burke jetted off to Utah in September to hang out with Kary Brittingham from “RHOD” and Heather Gay from “RHOSLC.”
“If I’m coming back next year, I just can’t come back next year filming with somebody so reckless,” Dodd said. “I just can’t. If she’s on, I’m probably out. So, that’s probably the way it goes. And by the way, she says she couldn’t film with me, so there you go.”
Vicki Gunvalson claims that a Real Housewives of Orange County producer was out to get her, alleges the same producer was also the reason she and Braunwyn Windham-Burke got off to a rocky start.
Vicki has been very vocal since her RHOC departure and has openly admitted she was deeply hurt when she was fired after 14 seasons on the show. She’s now revealing some behind-the-scenes tea and discussing one particular producer that she still loathes to this day.
“There is a producer that’s currently on this cast, the last two years, that does not like me,” she claimed. “And I don’t like him. It’s public. I mean, I think he’s a snake in the grass and I think he’s always stirring up conflict that is not real conflict. So him and I had it out and I’m sure he probably said ‘she’s a problem, let’s get rid of her,’ you know? Because I saw right through his bullsh*t every time. Like why are you telling her to say that about me? Oh, he purposely just kind of tried to stir the pot and manipulate the situation.”
The Coto Insurance founder admits that she still “can’t stand” Braunwyn, but she explains what really went down the first night she met her at Tamra Judge‘s house.
“She came after me the first time at Tamra’s and I’ll never forgive her for it ever,” she told David Yontef on the Behind the Velvet Rope podcast. “[But] off-camera she told me, ‘our producer told me to go after you.’ Cool! I took him by his earlobe, put him up against the wall, and said, ‘what the heck are you doing? I’m a quote-unquote friend this year and you’re going to do this to me the first time I get together with everybody? F*ck you!’ I was livid,” the grandmother-of-three shared.
“He’s just not a good guy. When you know that about a producer, you just don’t give them your all,” she continued.
Vicki was then asked what she regrets the most about doing the show and what advice she would go back and give herself in season one.
“I did everything right except falling prey to divorce,” she shared. “I mean, I think that in hindsight, I know for a fact that if I wasn’t on a reality show, I wouldn’t have been divorced. And that cost Donn and I both a lot of money because we had to split assets and alimony and all that stuff, so I paid more to him than he did to me because I had the business. So that’s hurtful and that’s hard.”
She goes on to reveal that because of her popularity from the show, she thought she “could have it all,” and that frame of mind paired with the fact that she and Donn were already having trouble is what led to an affair with Brooks Ayers.
“[Briana Culberson] and I talked about it because, [full] disclosure, I had an affair with Brooks,” she revealed. “I was traveling a lot with work and I had been in Atlanta and he was Mr. Southern gentlemen. And when we started to chat at that time, Donn and I were disconnected, my love tank was empty, [and] we were not having sex or anything. I felt very alone and so when another man started giving me attention, Donn and I were so distant, I just know it was an influential time in my life where I thought I was popular, I thought I could have it all. And you know, I ruined the family,” she humbly admitted.
Vicki claims she was so busy with both work and the show that she simply did not put the time into her marriage that she needed to. As a result, she and Donn grew extremely distant, and she wasn’t the only one who began to stray.
“I knew I didn’t bookend my relationship, and through counseling, I figured this out. When you travel the way I do and did, I would wake up, go to my meetings, go do my thing during the day with work,” Vicki explained. “Then at night, we would party and I would go to bed [at] one or two o’clock alone, but I never called Donn, or I never reached out to him and said, ‘I’m waking up, I’m going to meetings, or I’m in bed and I’m safe.'”
“And so what happened was one day went into two days into three days and I get home and he was like a stranger to me,” she continued. “And it was, you know, I’ll take the blame for it. He started straying, I started straying, and everything became more important than him and that’s not a marriage. You can’t do that.”
"If Heather Dubrow earned a dollar every time she was asked about The Real Housewives of Orange County, she’d have enough cash to build 10 more extravagant houses.
While the RHOC reference tickles her now, Heather said she wasn’t always thrilled to be constantly asked about the series. “You know, at the beginning when I first left the show, it was annoying because I just wanted it to break free and do my own thing and take my brand back and, you know, kind of move on,” she admitted to Showbiz Cheat Sheet.
“And I just couldn’t because everywhere I went, that’s all they asked about,” she said. “Now I feel like four or five years after leaving the show, I’ve done so many other things now. [Husband] Terry and I have written three books together. My podcast has has over 101 million downloads. My YouTube channel, TV shows I’ve done and hosting and whatnot.”
“And with a new show coming out [The Seven Year Stitch], I feel like in my heart that people see me as Heather Dubrow now,” she reflected. “And not a member of RHOC. It’s just part of my history. So now what I get asked about it, I think it’s kind of amusing.”
Heather’s teenage daughter Max, who recently launched the podcast, I’ll Give it To You Straightish, said she’s never identified as a Housewives kid.
“I think that my mom specifically like she’s not just an ex-Housewife,” Max told Showbiz Cheat Sheet. “She does so many amazing things and will continue to and did before that.”
“So, you know, when they’re like on every article is like ‘Heather Dubrow, former Housewife,’ it’s like she’s more than that,” she continued. “And so that’s you know … let it go. But for me personally, it hasn’t really bothered me. I’m just Heather Dubrow’s daughter. Not really a former Housewives kid.”
Heather shared how she continues to supervise Max’s foray into the world of podcasting without being too heavy-handed with her guidance. “I came from really very nice parents, but my mom was controlling. And I’m controlling too but in a different kind of way. Like, I always felt like I needed her help,” Heather said.
“And if I didn’t get her approval on something … it’s just not the kind of relationship I wanted with my kids,” Heather admitted. “I always like to say, you know, my job is to develop [and] to raise these healthy, functioning, independent children.”
“And to me, any of the kids want advice and help. I don’t tell them how to do it,” she added. “I guide them so they can figure it out themselves.” For example, when Max started her own podcast, she quickly learned that it was a huge undertaking.
“People think these things that it’s easy and think, oh everyone should do that. It’s very difficult to do,” Heather shared. “But I love that she’s working it out and figuring it out on her own because that’s how not only is she going to learn that, but she’s going to succeed.”
NEW YORK
"Former “Real Housewives of New York” star Barbara Kavovit has officially announced she’s running for mayor of New York City — adding to an already crowded field of Democratic candidates.
The Bronx-born Kavovit made it official on her Instagram Wednesday, saying her beloved Big Apple “is in a state of crisis” under Mayor de Blasio’s watch.
“I may not be a politician, but I’m a Bronx-born New Yorker who isn’t fearful of the hard work and tough decisions that lay ahead,” she wrote. “It will take a builder to rebuild #NYC, and I’m the woman to do it.”
In September, Kavovit, the CEO of Evergreen Construction, floated her dreams of Gracie Mansion, telling Page Six she was ready to rebuild the city.
“Number one is rebuild a safer and more inclusive New York City,” she said at the time. “So I feel like the city is not a safe place. So if it’s not safe, people don’t want to come to New York City. People don’t want to stay in New York City.”
Kavovit, 55, said her company, which she launched at age 21, is one of the largest female-owned commercial construction firms in the city.
Last year, Evergreen took a sledgehammer to Harvey Weinstein’s old offices at 99 Hudson Street.
“As a Bronx girl who’s paved her way in the male-dominated world of construction, I know something about overcoming adversity, creating opportunity and building something out of nothing–both for myself and those around me,” she said on her website. “And that’s why I’m running for Mayor of New York City.”
Kavovit starred in Bravo’s hit “Housewives” series during Season 11 in 2019.
In June’s Democratic primary, she’ll square off against hopefuls including Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, former presidential candidate and businessman Andrew Yang, New York City’s former sanitation commissioner Kathryn Garcia and former Citigroup executive Ray McGuire."

[ELECTION]Great Lakes Local Elections 2022

Elections in the Great Lakes are underway in several key local elections for state and city level positions. Most notably the elections of Governor in Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois, and the mayoral elections in Detroit, MI, Louisville, KN, and surprisingly Chicago, IL. There are also hot topics concerning the elections, as they are the first major ones to be had since the downfall of America. Not to mention the rise of the Red Army Faction, impending end of the world, there is much to be excited about with the elections. The parties vie for votes and power, with several key factors facing them all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The clear favorites in most of the races, the New Democratic Alliance are the standard bearers of the status quo, neoliberalism, and the rise of the Chicago government. They support Mayor Lightfoot and her goals of stability and peace, and the temporary suspension of democracy until then. They also highlight the need for military overhaul by sacrificing welfare programs.
Close seconds in many races and leaders in some are the People's Victory Association, the party of Progressives that is arguably more relevant than the Progressive Party in New England. Supported by big names and even bigger popular support, they hope to massively expand the welfare state of the country, demanding free federal elections and a new constitution.
Last of the giants come the Democratic-Repulicans, while not expected to make any massive gains they are expected to consolidate their position in these elections. The main jingoistic force and now staunch enemies of Washington & Co. in a twist for just months ago, they want to put everything into national defense and not so thinly veiled attacks to gain a coveted coast.
The sort-of-fascist-but-not-really party is the Patriotic Front, led by far right members of the Council and local state governments, they want to be even more genocidal in their war cries, and want to throw away the relationship with Canada and become more friendly with Salt Lake.
Lastly is the newly created Socialist Labour Front, a very small party whose main platform is 'The abolition of cringe posting'. Led by former podcaster Felix Biederman, who is prolifically the only person opposing Lori Lightfoot for re-election, the SLF want to abolish capitalism, install a left wing government, and murder Mitch McConnell. They consider the actions of the Red Army Faction 'bread pilled'.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At the end of election counting, it would seem that the People's Victory Association have come out on top in the dogpile, winning 3 governorships quite unexpectedly against very big NDA figures. They now hold nominal control over Illinois & Michigan, and exert strong influence in Nebraska. Not far behind is the New Democratic Alliance, who wile picking up governorships in Ohio and Dakota lost hugely in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan. The **Democratic-Republicans are not far behind the first two parties, holding their own in Iowa. The Patriotic Front have a de facto coalition with the D-Rs in Nebraska and Wisconsin, giving them control. And finally the Socialist Labour Front have shocked everyone by turning out the Native American vote in Southh Dakota to not only give them the governor's mansion, but also to give them a majority in the legislature.
Political "experts" have considered this to be significant on many levels. First and most certainly most important it has seen the rise of the PVA as the largest party in the country, and severely undermined the ruling NDA clique in Chicago. One can also not overlook the rise of the extreme ideologies at either end, with the Socialist Labour Front and Patriotic front both massively outperforming expectations. It would seem that millions of things have changed for the Great Lakes but nothing really has, they are as disunited as ever.

Dec/24/2020 news: \\ conscript tells his story \\ electricity prices, nuclear plant, budget explained \\ judicial reforms \\ felony case against ex-Minister & Kocharyan's business \\ daily fake news \\ opposition holds a demonstration \\ COVID stats \\ healthcare cooperation \\ anti-smoking \\ wine

Your 15-minute Thursday report in 3690 words.

budget: electricity price hike for some / what affects the price?

Earlier we learned that 90% of users won't see an increase next year. Heavy users will pay 3 more Drams.
Public Services Tariff Department provides details: 10% of the consumers, who use >400kw/h per month, will pay AMD 3 more for electricity next year. The nuclear plant will stop next year for a major renovation. As a result, 560 million kw/h less electricity will be produced. It will be substituted by thermal power plants (which produce electricity at a higher cost, therefore it sell at a higher price). Moreover, 330 million kw/h was supposed to be imported from Artsakh but most of the power infrastructure went under Azeri control.
As a result, there is an AMD 16.5 billion deficit. It breaks down to AMD 3.4 per user.
Another thing that had an impact was currency value changes. It introduced AMD 4.6 billion in deficit.
There were infrastructure upgrades last year which should be compensated by raising the prices. Prior loans should also be repaid. Due to the deviations of the production structure this year, additional damage has occurred in the system, which must be also compensated.
There were positive developments, too. The losses during the electricity distribution reduced from 11% to 7.5%. This had an effect of AMD 8.5 billion. The operational and maintenance expenditures were slashed by AMD 4.7 billion.
With the aforementioned positive and negative combined, we had an AMD 25.9 billion deficit. It breaks down to AMD 5.35 per consumer per kWh.
We were supposed to spend AMD 6.7 billion on the third electric network with Iran but since the project was delayed, we spent the saved funds to reduce the aforementioned deficit. Another AMD 8.2 billion came after holding talks with the govt about refinancing nuclear loans.
After these changes, the deficit was reduced to AMD 11 billion.
That breaks down to AMD 2.27 per consumer if it was raised for every consumer, but we decided not to raise it for low-income or small users. As a result, AMD 3 will be raised for 10%, for larger users.

nuclear plant will purchase more fuel from Russia

Metsamor NPP signed a contract with Rosatom to purchase nuclear fuel in 2021. It is for the ВВЭР-440 nuclear reactor that has a capacity of 407MW.
The NPP produces 40% of Armenia's electricity. It has produced 1.8905 billion mkw/h between January-September.

new bill to reduce judicial system overload

Justice Ministry drafted a new bill that aims to reduce the burden on judges who are currently assigned to hundreds (or thousands?) of cases. Everyone complains about slow trials.
The bill introduces a sub-specialization of the examination of motions for application of precautionary measures, the search operations, the implementation of investigative measures, as well as the investigation of corruption crimes. (Google Translate)
"New judges will be hired to hear the aforementioned cases. This will result in a workload reduction for others. It'll also reduce corruption risks."

anti-corruption: ex-Culture Minister wanted by police / offshore scheme

Investigative Committee: Hasmik Poghosyan was the Culture Minister in 2006. She was also vice-president of a "culture" organization. She illegally gave a Yerevan-owned property to the organization. Her accomplice was the organization's president Armen Smbatyan, who would later become Ambassador to Israel.
The appropriated AMD 201 million-worth property was then deposited as an investment in an LLC company established by the "culture" organization. It was registered as LCC's property.
The LLC then made the $550,000 transfer to an offshore firm belonging to the Minister's family registered in the British Virgin Islands.
A felony case is launched against the ex-Minister (wanted, arrest) and her accomplice ex-ambassador (bail).
https://armenpress.am/arm/news/1038861.html
Defendant ex-Israel ambassador Smbatyan commented the story this way: "This is an old story. We were just trying to protect the building by making investments. The building is there, we haven't done anything."

felony case against Kocharyan's business for "forcing workers to participate in anti-Pashinyan protests"

Read yesterday news for the original story.
Police say: we examined a claim made by the wife of an employee and found that the director of a [Toyota Yerevan] business, located on Isakov Avenue, urged 30-35 employees to take part in the next day's protests. Among them was the auto-electrician, [the husband of the woman who made the claim]. The man refused to join protests so he was told he couldn't work there anymore.
A felony case is launched per Code 143.1 "մարդու և քաղաքացու իրավունքներն ու ազատություններն... խախտելը աշխարհայացքից, քաղաքական կամ այլ հայացքներից...".

opposition resumes the rally / building blockade / "armed coup" incitement

The 16 opposition parties, allied or part of the former regime, have resumed the demonstrations today. They continue to demand Pashinyan's resignation and the appointment of their own candidate Vazgen Manukyan as PM.
As promised yesterday, they attempted to encircle the government building in the morning to prevent Pashinyan and the government cabinet from being able to enter and hold a session. The police formed a wall around the entrance.
https://armenpress.am/arm/news/1038786.html
The demonstrators were unable to get too close to govt building entrance in the morning because police forces went there first and blocked the areas that could be used to approach the building entrance.
https://www.armtimes.com/hy/article/203636
There was a confrontation between several demonstrators and the police while opening the Tigran Mets road, while demonstrators were attempting to prevent officials from leaving the building. The demonstrators complained about excessive force. Police said they'll investigate the claims. 69 people were detained.
https://armenpress.am/arm/news/1038823.html , https://www.armtimes.com/hy/article/203651
The demonstrators were unable to achieve the main goal. When asked to comment on accusations that the opposition is "indecisive" and the "number of protesters gradually dwindle", the ARF co-leader Ishkhan Saghatelyan said, "There is such concern. Many citizens urge us to take decisive action. I think what we do today is a decisive action. Citizens who are disappointed in us for not taking decisive action should come to the public square right now because the whole government is in this building. What other decisive action should we take?"
Opposition's PM candidate Manukyan commented, "If we want to take a civilized approach then the people must come here. If 100,000 people were here, the issue would be over now. There are such 100,000 people who are dissatisfied, who understand that the country is collapsing, but they are sitting at home."
Full: https://www.armtimes.com/hy/article/203659
One of the demonstrators, volunteer Sargis Karapetyan, called for an armed coup against the government. He was arrested and charged with Code 301.
ARF Ishkhan Saghatelyan disagreed with the calls for an armed coup and called it "unacceptable", adding that "we can invade the government building any time we want but that's not the goal".
https://armenpress.am/arm/news/1038849.html , https://www.armtimes.com/hy/article/203669 , https://www.armtimes.com/hy/article/203678
HR Ombudsman: During one of the demonstrations today, calls were made for an armed coup. This is reprehensible. One of the leaders of the demonstrations made it clear that violence is unacceptable. The organizers of the opposition's protests must keep in mind that the opposition is also an institution of statehood, the state of human rights in the country also depends on the opposition.
https://armenpress.am/arm/news/1038819.html
There was a confrontation between the opposition demonstrators and several family members of POWs and missing soldiers. The families asked demonstrators to go home because they believe the protests hinder the process of POW exchange and search operations.
Families believe that Azerbaijan is intentionally delaying the process to fuel more protests in Armenia. The families also asked demonstrators not to hold parties and play loud music in the squaare out of respect to their fallen/missing sons.

Syunik border demarcation continues

Pashinyan: Border checkpoints are currently being installed in Syunik province, with some complications. We are convinced that this work must be done. It's necessary to ensure the safety of Syunik and Armenia in general.
There are two settlements where questions and painful situations may arise: Vorotan and Shurnukh (check the archive of my previous posts for details for each). Works are carried out on daily basis here. If certain issues arise from the point of view of the interests of our citizens, the government will come up with full compensation. The interests of our citizens will be fully protected. (the two villages were built partially on the other side of the Syunik border; some could lose their homes).
There is a flow of misinformation around the topic. For example, there may be hundreds of publications about one case, with bells and whistles, to give the impression that it's a widespread occurrence. I want to repeat that there can be no question of a single millimeter of concession from Syunik and the internationally recognized territory of the Republic of Armenia.
On the other hand, this does not mean that the aforementioned processes should be considered as demarcation or delimitation, they are different issues. At this stage, certain border points are being located, the purpose of which is to ensure safety. This new situation raises some emotions, but I say again, we must overcome this stage as calmly as possible in order to achieve the full functioning of the new security system that we are building today.
I spoke with the commander of border guards this morning and gave specific instructions on how to manage this process so that it goes as smoothly as possible so that the interests of our citizens are maximally protected. This was discussed with the MoD, General Chief of Staff, and others.
We know with a centimeter-precision the areas where we can have border disputes. We held a meeting 10 days earlier and there was an order to contact residents of these bordering regions to inform them in detail about the ongoing processes, and that their lost properties will be fully compensated.

Context: Artsakh's Qashatakh region, south of Lachin, was mostly occupied by Azeris during the war. The parts that weren't occupied had to be given to Azerbaijan as part of the agreement to "return the 7 regions". Qashatagh is one of the 7 regions adjacent to Nagorno-Artsakh. Qashatagh borders Armenia's Syunik province. Naturally, new borders have to be drawn here between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Some Armenian settlements and roads were built on Syunik-Qashatahg borders, which are now Syunik-Azerbaijan borders. This created disputes and concerns by some of the bordering residents because their settlements became close to borders overnight.
https://armenpress.am/arm/news/1038809.html
More details about border village Shurnukh. It has a road that became a border. 11 houses are on the Azeri side of the road.

daily fake news: Azeris open fire on Armenian vehicle near Tegh village

A priest participated in a demonstration and claimed that "Azeris opened fire at an Armenian car that didn't stop near Tegh village on December 10th."
Fact checker contacted Tegh mayor who said the priest "misunderstood" the story, which went like this: "Armenian car was traveling on border road, Azeris tried to stop it probably to ask for cigarette or something, the car didn't stop. After that, there were sounds of gunshots but they came from far away. It's possible that it came from the front lines. Could also be fired by our troops, we don't know."

conscript recalls the battles in Fizuli, Hadrut, and Shushi

19-year-old Gor Ghazaryan: before the war, we would visit front lines in large vehicle columns. But on September 25th (two days before war) it was different. They took us there one by one, with different routes.
We reached the front. They told us the situation is tense. We observed how the opponent brought equipment. At 4:00 AM we received a Level-1 alarm. We noticed that the Azeri village lights, which were usually off at night, were lit. That meant the population was being evacuated. We waited for the attack.
The fight began in the morning with a barrage of artillery fire. It was working around the clock. When we exhausted all our reserves, we couldn't hold the post any longer with 8 people because the opponent brought 7-8 tanks: one tank for each of us. We decided to retreat. We moved back three defense lines where our artillery was.
Eventually, we reached Fizuli Crossroads (south) which is 30km from the original front. We took a rest for 3 days before being sent to provide a shift change to Artsakh Hero David Ghazaryan's unit. Ghazaryan "Kombat Davo" was killed earlier. Everyone spoke about him. For me, he was the image of the hero during the war.
We fought in Hadrut for 10 days before entering a forest. There, we waited for instructions for several days. We learned that Hadrut and Martuni parts were encircled and our troops had to retreat. The retreating troops met us in forests, and together, we went to Stepanakert. From there, we went south near Qarin Tak (just south of Shushi)
The situation was intensifying every moment. We had a strong army in Qarin Tak. We took positions in various parts. There were fierce battles for 5 days. The opponent got closer and it turned into a rifle battle. We were disadvantaged because they held better positions.
We retreated that night to where the "Shushi" sign is in red letters. Three days later I was wounded from an explosion there. They took me to Stepanakert. Three days later I found out about the fall of Shushi.

fight continues over anti-smoking bill

We learned last week that several QP MPs introduced a bill to delay a government bill that would ban smoking in public and enclosed areas, as well as the display of cigarettes in convenience shops. Healthcare Ministry advised the MPs not to touch the law and let it go into effect in January. The MPs want to delay it until 2022.
Today Healthcare Minister Torosyan unloaded a tirade on the cigarette industry, calling them powerful, manipulative, and being able to "blackmail" to achieve their goals. The Minister is against delaying the bill, saying it's necessary for public health, especially in the age of pandemic.
The bill to delay the bill will be discussed in Parliament soon. There will be a debate.

Clipping the Silver Wings

The ceasefire which had been so easily signed in the aftermath of the war - would be just as easily broken as West Coast Collective (WC) fighter planes found themselves once more surging across into Salt Lake air-space following the breakdown of peace talks (due to SLFR belligerence). However, the air-assault would be far less successful than expected. Simultaneous calls for surrender and orders to attack by the WC had led to confusion on the Salt Lake side and ultimately ended any chance at a non-violent resolution.
SLFR airwings, still in disarray from the effects of nuclear strikes on their logistical chain and major airfields - would despite a well-planned counter-attack, be unable to fully thwart WC strikes. However, the uncoordinated WC plan - issued from the WC High Command without regard to recommendations from the Vice Admirals in-charge of carrier aviation would see large numbers of WC aircraft taken out by land-based anti-air systems in the lead-up to the strike on Creech. While Creech and Hill AFB would both ultimately be destroyed due to the sheer-quantity of aircraft sent by the WC - the unnecessary losses taken by WC air-assets would begin to reignite dissent which had already existed but had been tempered among the WC Military branches.
These tensions would only be further inflamed as WC Military High Command had outright forgotten about Edwards AFB which was recently seized by the SLFR during the prior campaigns. SLFR counter-strikes from this Air Force Base while limited due to a lack of additional munitions for resupply - would nonetheless be devastating on the WC aircraft returning from their strike missions. These losses - wholly unnecessary and avoidable would form the first fractures in the war to come, as WC trust among military leadership began to shatter.
Yet while a valiant stand - the reality of the Atom was only beginning to set in for the SLFR.

Forward No More

SLFR Military Commanders and Political Leaders along the front-lines of the war had expected two things following the cease-fire and aftermath of the nuclear strikes by the WC. They, expected that 1. the SLFR would begin an immediate withdrawal to the mountains - or even further inland followed by a peace-agreement and 2. that all available civil and military resources would be dedicated to the clean-up operations in honor of the near half-million dead. And as front-line Commanders received their orders and political leaders their talking points - it was clear that the complete opposite was planned.
The SLFR High Command - or what was left of it had elected to devote all remaining resources to continuing the war against the WC. Yet as calls home by the SLFR soldiers on the front-line continued to go straight to voice-mail, and all media reports showed a complete lack of significant action domestically in the face of the nuclear crisis - dissension had begun to build among the ranks. This led local commanders on the ground to begin planning out their own operations - refusing to recognize orders issued from the Cheyenne Mountain Complex. None willing to continue fighting in the largely urban-hellscape that was Western America, commanders of forces operating in the Cascades began a total withdrawal, giving up the hard-won coastal gains in favor of retaking a solid defense in the mountains. At the same time - local Pacific North-west politicians including Loren Culp would begin denouncing what they called "Moronic" orders from a non-existent capital.
In California - forces would be more eager to continue fighting - desperate to retain the gains made. Yet despite being only miles away from both Los Angeles and San Francisco - the commanding officers on the ground began to realize the dire situation, receiving little in the way of logistical support from the just-nuked SLFR heartland, Emperor Norton and the remaining SLFR forces would withdraw into the Californian Mountain ranges.
However, while no gains had been managed against the entrenched WC forces - a startling harassment free withdrawal had SLFR forces puzzled as they withdrew with near impunity. Some scouts had even reported that it would take the WC forces hours - even days to move into vacated SLFR positions, leaving WC forces well outside the initiative and under almost constant artillery bombardment. SLFR scouts in the later-period of the campaign would also begin reporting a noted lack of Marines on the WC frontlines, with forces more and more being of Army or National guard nature.
Yet these slight advantages would materialize into nothing, as the SLFR would finally push its population one step to far.

Sweet Death

Continue the war, avenge the fallen, words now ubiquitous with the SLFR Central Government. Yet the final straw would be a statement given late into the second-campaign, "give everything you have to give" - followed by confirmation that the SLFR High Command had approved a possible nuclear strike on the West Coast. The SLFR population had already given everything it had to give and in return? They had received nothing, the SLFR Central Government was more interested in continuing war and blundering peace-talks, rather than attempting to take the initiative in domestic clean-up and repair.
The SLFR populace had needed only look to Canada, which had launched extensive campaigns to repair the damages wrought by the WC nuclear strikes. While at the same time, SLFR civilians found themselves bombarded by pro-war Propaganda, and "low-level promises" of a future if they would only support the war a little longer. In July, the SLFR Central Government would lose the carrot and the stick.
Earlier orders to launch nuclear strikes on the WC had already been ignored - a signal of the coming disaster of SLFR policy. Yet the first notice that control of the nation was rapidly shifting would come when the cities of Reno and Carson would announce themselves as The Free Cities of Tahoe - nominally aligned with the WC. The Mayor of Reno would later be seen on TV, formally accepting the offer to surrender by the WC. And while the first, it would not be the last.
The next to follow, would be the numerous Native Reservations that dotted the SLFR landscape. All highly militant and declaring "neutrality" in the WC-SLFR war, they are supported by a strong-backbone of native veterans from all walks of the former USA Armed Forces. The largest of these "self-declared nation-states" is the Great Navajo Nation and Hualapai Indian Alliance located across formerly SLFR controlled Arizona and New Mexico. The Great Navajo Nation would quickly be followed by The Salt Lake Nation and Great Plains Confederation, one made up of the Uintah and Ouray Nations, the other a confederation of a number of reservations across the SLFR. The final major reservation to declare itself a nation-state would be the Nez Perce Reservation in Idaho.
Perhaps most critical, however, was a daring raid led by former Navajo SPECOP veterans and pilots on the previously planned for export F-15EX facility. Leading to a total of 16 F-15EX aircraft stolen and the rest scuttled followed by the destruction of the facility itself. SLFR Forces wouldn't be alerted to the raid until a transmission - presumed to be from the Navajo Nation was received and stated "Thanks for the Flying Horses."
The SLFR Central Government in the face of the collapse, was quick to muster local defense forces while demanding the withdrawal of forces along the WC-SLFR frontline. Yet both were met with silence as Loren Culp - a noted political leader in Eastern Washington and Idaho following the collapse of the USA would in tandem with Brad Little (Idaho Senator) announce the formation of the Free Cascadian Republic a culmination of former SLFR forces and locals to the Eastern Washington/Oregon and Western Idaho region. Declaring total independence, it is rumored that Brad Little and Loren Culp have reached out to the USA Republican Party and specifically Donald J. Trump who continues to campaign as a politician.
In California - the SLFR would face similar hardship as Emperor Norton - in an act of treason declared the Republic of California as led by himself. Supported by a number of now-former SLFR Forces, he declared immediate neutrality in the war - stating that his forces would defend the Republic but nothing more. Emperor Norton was not however universally supported - resulting in the formation of the nominally SLFR aligned Republic of Northern California - formed by militant SLFR forces no longer willing to give any more ground, but wholly unable to continue the war outside of the Californian mountains.
Facing the total collapse of the SLFR - the Central Government would move to enact large-scale lockdowns across the nation. Yet as Shrek once said "you and what army". The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints would be the last to announce its separation from the SLFR Central Government. Having already grown as a leading community organization across the SLFR in the wake of the nuclear-crisis and as one of the last remaining major independent financiers, the LDS would under the leadership of Russell M. Nelson announce the LDS's separation and newfound existence as a Nation-State working with but not under the SLFR Central Government. Claiming all existing Temples both within the SLFR and beyond (although SLFR only has meta control over those in SLFR) - the LDS has explicitly stated it has no intention of continuing or supporting the war between the WC and SLFR - instead it intends to marshal the power and pride of SLFR natives in healing the nation at home.
The LDS has the support of the majority of the SLFR population, with only about 20-30% of the remaining SLFR population supportive of the Central Government. However, of what remains of the SLFR military, the LDS maintains very little control. Nonetheless, all hopes at continuing a war have vanished.
And while the SLFR fractured into a thousand pieces, those watching the crisis unfold were left to wonder why the WC had not struck while the iron was hot. What they didn't know was that the SLFR was not the only American Successor with assets going dark across the country.

Endless Madness on the Golden Coast

It would later be revealed that Retired General James "Mad Dog" Mattis, a resident of Washington State, had stormed into the Californian High Command despite his retirement demanding to know why "the Marines hadn't moved an inch, instead choosing to sit with a foot up their dick, as SLFR forces fled." While perhaps a soldiers-myth, it becoming the Marine-legend that it is, is telling of the true state of WC Military Command.
Yet to encapsulate the sheer incompetence of WC Military Commanders would be a task in its own right. Failure to launch a ground-campaign while relying on the surrender and subsequent secession of SLFR states does however get you pretty close. And when combined with a completely "over-confident" air-operation accompanied by the complete neglect of operational SLFR air-force bases which had just previously been under your control - it is no surprise the events which followed the collapse of the SLFR.
WC High Command would turn to panic as communications with the First and Third Fleets dropped off the map, followed by simultaneous ground-reports of Marine forces withdrawing from the front-lines while at the same time Army Officers commenced their own self-planned operations in an attempt to retake the lost initiative. In the coming chaos - WC forces would constantly find themselves two steps behind the retreating SLFR forces, which meant they found themselves under constant bombardment - greatly increasing casualty rates.
Additionally - WC air-sorties quickly began to slow, as the disappearance of both the First and Third Fleets became all too apparent. And while in normal circumstances this may have spelled the end of the WC military capabilities - the ongoing SLFR collapse had once again acted as a saving grace. And despite a population rapidly beginning to feel the full effects of an extended war of choice against the SLFR, the WC chose to press on.
This would however come to an end, as only three days after the WC had lost contact with the First and Third Fleets, the Third Fleet led by CVN-70 Carl Vinson would be reported by Canadian Arctic Rangers on patrol - passing through the Northwest Passage. The gravity of the situation quickly becoming clear would force the WC to put forward a cease-fire with the SLFR who at this point was more than welcoming of such an agreement. And as the cease-fire was being signed, intercepted radio-communications would reveal the WC High Command's worst fears.

"China's Worst Case Scenario: Defection of the West Coast Navy"

"Merz, Hero of the Atlantic! Free American Forces a signal for change? Alliance with New England confirmed?

BOSTON DAILY | Issued on 2024 - 12:00 | Boston, New England
BOSTON - The First and Third Carrier Strike Groups along with former PACOM Marines have defected, as confirmed by former Vice-Admiral of the WC, William R. Merz, retired Marine General Jim Mattis, and Rear Admiral James Kirk. The Carrier Strike Groups which had reportedly fallen off of West Coast communications networks had been reported as being possibly as far north as the North-west Passage, with other rumors having sprung up pinning them in the Pacific Ocean stopping near Pearl Harbor. One particular incident which was initially denied by the Canadian government - involved several former Alaskan servicemembers now serving with the Canadian Navy apparently defecting from Canada when their patrol boat came into contact with the Third Fleet. While no confirmation has been provided, its alleged by members of parliament that three names had been redacted from Canadian Naval Service records.
As it has been revealed, following a statement televised by General Mattis, both rumors are true as the First Carrier Group now finds itself in Japan having arrived at the tail-end of the opening phases of the Taiwan conflict. In his statement, General Mattis declared the beginning of the Free American Forces - consisting of former West Coast Marines and Naval personnel now dedicated to upholding the prior beliefs of America - tarnished by the USA and then by the subsequent successors. At the same time, Vice Admiral Merz and commander of the Third Carrier Strike Group has confirmed the fleet's defection to New England - maintaining alignment with the Free American Forces broadly speaking.
General Mattis would also state that "incompetence had wasted the lives of thousands unnecessarily" with the Free American Forces declaring their intentions to preserve life and operate under the sound judgment of competent leadership - hinting towards a possible partnership with New England while declaring "Japan to be a critical ally" and stating full intent to work with Pacific allies.
Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Merz stated the following upon arriving off the coast of Boston, "The Third Fleet is dedicated to upholding the beliefs of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And we stand in support of the Free American Forces and will not hesitate to come to their aid. However, we believe just as much good can be done on the Atlantic.
The resulting chaos which now sees the First Carrier Group docked in Japan and working with Japan and other regional allies, alongside former WC Marines has thrown a major wrench into the Chinese plans. And while too late to prevent the inevitable, General Mattis has ensured regional allies in the Pacific - that the Free American Forces would never allow the tragedy in Taiwan to happen again.
Official reports place current Free American Forces at the following amounts and locations,
  • Japan
    • 34,000 former WC Marines+Equipment (20,000 originally in Japan, 14,000 additional defections)
    • 5,400 former WC Marines in Korea
    • CVN-68 Nimitz (5x E-2 Hawkeyes, 12x F-35C II, 42 FA-18E/F Super Hornets, 2x P-3 Orions, 6x EA-18G Growlers)
    • 4x Arleigh Burke Class Destroyers
    • 1x Ticonderoga Class Cruiser
    • 1x Wasp Class AAS (2x P-8 Poseidon, 18x MH-60 Seahawks)
    • 1x San Antonio Class Support Ship (2x MH-60 Seahawks)
    • 2x Los Angeles SSN
Meanwhile, the following have been seen off the coast of Boston.
  • Off the Coast of New England
    • CVN-70 (5x E-2 Hawkeyes, 12x F-35C II, 42 FA-18E/F Super Hornets, 2x P-3 Orions, 6x EA-18G Growlers)
    • 4x Arleigh Burke Class Destroyers
    • 1x Virginia SSN
With another uneasy cease-fire declared, it has yet to be seen how the defections will force negotiations to proceed.

BATTLE NOTES

  • SLFR (SLFR has meta control)
    • The SLFR split was done to provide the SLFR creative freedom in how they approach their claim. If they revert to hand-wavy reunification - all factions (minus the Central Gov) are liable to become Unclaimable NPCs.
    • SLFR Central Government led by Mitt Romney and radicalizing Mormon LDS factions supported by Mr. Nelson have relatively little control of the SLFR as a whole.
    • LDS is politically favored by the broader SLFR population - in affect granting power to the Central Government. The LDS's main goal is to repair and heal the SLFR domestically. Secretly it plans to continue an asymmetric war of terror.
    • The SLFR Central Gov maintains full control of what nuclear assets still exist.
    • The SLFR Central Gov and Republic of Northern California are reliant on each-other for defense and economic support (defense provided by NC and economic support by Central Gov) - the NC is a distinctly separate entity.
  • Broader SLFR (SLFR has meta control of these splinters)
    • The varying indigenous self-declared nation states are highly militant supported by a strong backbone of native veterans. Their goal is simply the preservation of their independence.
    • The Republic of California (Norton) is non-aligned, seeking to maintain its independence only.
    • ALL Factions of the Indigenous/Norton demand independence or to a far lesser degree, autonomy. Failure to adequately address this will result in them becoming non-claimable NPCs.
  • Broader SLFR (No meta control for any party)
    • The Free Cascadian Republic has declared itself an independent state- reaching out to campaigning former American President Trump/the Maryland MIC for support. Nominally they are also allied with the SLFR and seek to preserve independence of Cascadia.
    • This entity is now considered a non-claimable NPC.
  • WC Aligned (Former SLFR - now WC meta control)
    • The Free Cities of Tahoe have aligned themselves to the WC
    • Las Vegas/Clark County continue to remain WC aligned.
    • Denver remains WC aligned.
    • Slab City has declared independence but is willing to work with the WC.
CASUALTIES
  • SLFR CASUALTIES - NOT COUNTING DEFECTIONS

TIMELINE: The Descent into Madness

"Americana will not fall with a whimper, she'll fight and claw the whole way down."

June 13th, 2022

"In a war filled with so many mistakes, it's only the last that will be remembered. And to me, that's a crying shame."
 -Clive Hamilton

The First Step: Beginning the Journey to Eden's Gate

"It's more like backing a nuclear state into a corner. Between a rock and a hard place, China and us" ~ Salt Lake Military Advisor
Despite the advice from less war-hawkish military advisors, the Salt Lake Federal Republic (SLFR) would make good on its threats against the "Bandit Kingdom" to its West. And when they did, there would be no warning. Which is why the West Coast Coalition (WC) forces immediately went into panic mode following an internal-system warning that the SLFR had just attempted to cut all WC access to vital communication networks at Schriever AFB and by extension the US Satellite Network which was headquartered there.
The move to cut the WC out of the most advanced shared satellite networks in the world would be applauded as a bold and daring action by SLFR Military Command. Yet it had seemed as if the SLFR Military Command had forgotten the existence of the Los Angeles AFB which itself was home to a secondary fail-safe system which maintained full access to the very same satellite networks in full. Therefore believing the operation to be a success, SLFR Military Command quickly issued orders to proceed with Stage 2 of the Western Campaign and forces began to mobilize. Yet as SLFR forces began moving to their predesignated areas in Canada and along the broader WC-SLFR borders, the WC Cyber-warfare division was working rapidly to secure access to the broader American Satellite Infrastructure and begin the defense of the WC.
And as SLFR Forces began final preparations for the alpha strike - Command Bases in Schriever would be given a reality check. In little more than a half hour, WC Cyber-forces had managed to establish the Los Angeles AFB as an equal connection node for the American Satellite Networks - reestablishing and securing access to the coveted satellites. This was rapidly followed by a poorly executed yet wide-ranging series of retaliatory cyber-attacks which affected mainly the civilian populace of the SLFR.
The reality of the coming war would quickly set in for the SLFR forces. Despite the ongoing cyber-attacks and the realization that the primary communication/cyber advantage had ceased to exist, in the eyes of the leading SLFR Military Commanders - there was no other option. And despite the pleas of varying military advisors, the SLFR Military Command would give its blessing to continue the attack - understanding that the war would need to be decided before the WC Fleets came into the field.

The Second Step: The Growth of Faith

"Sir, even if they don't use them, you understand we are launching a war of annihilation against a state with extensive second strike capabilities designed to be used in exactly this scenario?" ~ Salt Lake Military Advisor
The SLFR would be the first to strike, knowing that their advantage existed so long as the WC Fleets and Marines lay far out into the Pacific. And despite the early warning given to the WC by attempting to disconnect WC Military Communications from Schriever, the forces first to move - those assaulting via Canada and Eastern Washington/Oregon would find very little resistance. Several skirmishes involving local pro-WC Militias and the well trained SLFR Forces would be the most intense of the engagements as SLFR Forces first cruised through Lynden and then Bellingham in Northern Washington. Similar success was found in Ellensburg and the immediate Ellensburg pass, while forces rendezvousing at The Dalles in Northern Oregon likewise reported little initial resistance.
Likewise the Air Campaign across the broader battleground of that was Western America was also turning in the favor of the SLFR Air Force. Thanks to already having fighters of the 11th, 12th, and 13th Fighter Squadrons among many others in the air - and due to the lack of preparedness of the WC Air Force despite months of saber-rattling, the SLFR was able to quickly capitalize on their targets. Complex air-campaigns executed in California by SLFR Air Assets would prove most deadly as feints on WC sorties drew attention away from the Edwards AFB thus allowing for a large-scale ground assault by SLFR forces on the weakened base. Supported by sizeable air-contingents, the SLFR assault on Edwards AFB would begin just as planned. Edwards AFB being a critical juncture in the approach to the Californian Coast would fall rapidly as West Coast Forces while mobilized where still largely spread out and attempting to reconsolidate forces in alternative defensive positions. This was quickly followed by further feint attacks by SLFR Fighter Squadrons which masked strikes on the Los Angeles and Vandenberg Air Bases.
While strikes on the Los Angeles and Vandenberg AFBs would be successful in harassing operations and extending the time between WC Sorties, they ultimately would not be enough to completely eliminate the threats as the WS Nimitz, one of two carriers within the immediate region utilized its impressive air-wing to ensure the survival of WC air bases. At the same time, the WS Carl Vinson - the second of two carriers would muster its own air wing in defense of Joint Base McChord in Washington. Yet by late morning, the WC would begin to receive increasingly dire messages from both Carriers as attrition and general exhaustion began to take its toll.
However, unbeknownst to the WC, the SLFR had just received a dire message of their own.

The Third Step: Rebellion in the City of Sin

"We'd advise against provoking secessionists. Ultimately those threatening secession are far more dangerous to us than the protestors in Salt Lake City." ~ SLFR Political Advisor
SLFR ground forces in Washington and Oregon would meet their first significant contact in Mt. Vernon and Gresham respectively as WC Militia and Army/National Guard forces had finally managed to mobilize both manpower and equipment. SLFR Forces operating in Southern California would find a similar situation as they attempted to push past Edwards AFB and towards Los Angeles. The nature of the early SLFR successes had likewise also forced the WC to recommit forces previously dedicated to the defense of central California to either Oregon or Southern California to prevent a total collapse of either front.
The movement of forces by the WC to reinforce these positions would bring a halt to the immediate advance of the SLFR forces who now had to fight through increasingly more hostile territory. This allowed for forces in Seattle to reinforce the front-line in Everett while forces in Portland readied themselves for the coming storm as the SLFR still fighting in Gresham - utilized the advantage of approaching by both sides of the Columbia river to enter Vancouver and begin consolidating forces for a larger push onto Portland.
SLFR Military Command now expecting a swift end to the conflict and realizing that Central California had finally been weakened enough to begin the next stage of operations, would mean that tacit approval was given to Emperor Norton II and his General to begin the true Western Campaign. And as Norton II's forces marched into the Californian Central Valley, SLFR Military Command awaited what they expected would be minor rebellions within what was believed to be "starving towns of the West Coast". However the first report of rebellion would not be in Fresno nor Sacramento, as both assaults would stall-in-motion as Commanders in the field began receiving reports from home command.
The Enclave of New Vegas would be announced at exactly noon - as defections from within Nellis AFB to the WC alongside large-scale anti-war protests throughout Vegas would bring Sin City to a grounding halt. While political experts had warned about the possibility of a pro-WC/Anti-war population in Vegas transforming into a secession crisis, the choice to respect the protesters had clearly been made. Vegas citizens having woken up to the sound of jets flying overhead as the opening engagements began - would quickly and secretly organize themselves leading to the Enclave and the declaration of the city mayor announcing the City's joining of the WC.
While a serious blow to the SLFR, they would ultimately have no time to rest as news of rapidly approaching West Coast Carrier Groups and Marine reinforcements reached the ears of SLFR top brass.

The Fourth Step: Judgement of the Broken Hearted

"We've devised several ways to exploit the West Coast civilian population. Its sure-fire unless we do something that pisses them off forever. Like starving a large number of them to death." ~ High Level Salt Lake Military Advisor
The rebellion of Sin City would propel the SLFR military forward with a renewed vigor. With WC Carriers and Marines now only days out and major WC cities yet to fall - the SLFR despite having near full air-superiority would be forced to operate on the WC's timeframe or risk being overwhelmed by the coming reinforcements. Matters where not helped by the fact that forces which entered the WC via Canada had gone nearly a full week and a half without resupply - relying solely on supplies taken from the local populace. Despite SLFR plans to connect the Everett and Western Mountain fronts, WC Militia had stood strong supported by critical army units to prevent this.
Nonetheless - as the war approached the tipping point, the SLFR would commit to its final stages of the planned campaign. In the Pacific Northwest, SLFR Forces would renew their assaults on Seattle and Portland - with forces in Everett reaching dangerously close to Seattle's northern fringes, those in Vancouver which lay just north of Portland would actually begin moving directly into the heart of Portland itself. WC Army and Militia forces would fight bravely in all instances - but unfortunately without critical support from the Marines, they would be outmatched and out-gunned in these engagements and the sieges of Seattle and Portland would become ever more dire.
Emperor Norton II's forces meanwhile seeing the progress being made in Portland began their own final assault. The large central SLFR invasion force would tighten the existing encirclements of Sacramento and Fresno, the well organized armored units (relative to the WC) acting as an anchor for the assault across the I5 and towards San Francisco itself. Norton's forces would find success in contesting the entire Central Californian Valley, reaching as far West as Concord in short time - although the heavy amount of WC forces centralized in the coastal mountains prevented the fall of San Francisco and San Jose entirely.
Already suffering from food shortages due to the several month long trade war before the SLFR invasion, all these cities would begin to see mass food-shortages as their lifelines and ability to trade via the Pacific shipping industry was cut by encirclement or risk of conflict. While significant in Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco - and even more so in Fresno and Sacramento, the worst case of the food shortage would be found in Los Angeles where the SLFR had enacted a policy of "attrition through starvation".
Despite having had control over Fort Irwin prior the invasion - the SLFR had apparently never taken advantage of one of the best urban warfare/close quarters combat training centers in the entirety of North America. Or rather, that's what military analysts reviewing the war would surmise as they looked to the L.A. Campaign. As the SLFR playbook was one of ancient medieval siege and not of the modern crawling advance that was to be expected. The concept of a long-term siege was so ingrained as doctrine, that an SLFR Commander was quoted with "We won't." when asked about how the SLFR planned to combat the L.A. Megacity and its population.
And SLFR forces took that to heart as they slowly surrounded L.A., cutting off supplies and lifelines in and out of the city. Nearly 43,000 of the most vulnerable would die as civilian casualties during what at the time was the most horrific case of civilian collateral in the long war. Yet the SLFR had taken it one step to far and madness would follow.

The Sixth Step: Desperation of the Caged

"Sir, we don't get to decide what the West Coast deploys or doesn't deploy to California. That's what you are missing." ~ Salt Lake Military Advisor
The SLFR advance had been stopped in its tracks. The destruction of vital SLFR Air Bases along the front had removed all semblance of air superiority as dozens of aircraft not destroyed in the initial blasts found themselves flying over glass deserts as they withdrew to civilian airports and bases further from the front. And yet the destruction of vital air bases was not even the greatest concern as the cities of Salt Lake City and Santa Fe found themselves completely removed from the map.
Mitt Romney, Emperor Norton II, and several other high-level government officials found themselves on the lucky-side of life, having survived the nuclear strikes by being out of the city and inspecting front-line troops. Yet the true weight of the destruction would not be realized until these same individuals - the sole surviving SLFR government made their way back onto the SLFR Air Force One as ushered by Secret Service agents.
The two biggest assets of the SLFR, the ICBM Fields in Malmstrom and F.E. Warren had been destroyed or left inoperable. Leaving the SLFR with only its air-launched weaponry that had survived the blasts. The SLFR had lost its deterrence, and they had lost it just as WC Carriers and Marines arrived from the Pacific theater, to reinforce their exhausted countrymen.
The WC now operating with a renewed sense of morale, would launch massive counter-attacks as reinforced by what was a delayed return of the remaining naval and marine assets. They would secure Los Angeles, Seattle, and Portland - while pushing SLFR forces still shell-shocked from the destruction of the capital city back into the broader Californian Central Valley. Excitement and largely weary militia force however would mean that this was as far as the WC Military Command was able to push their advantage, as SLFR Forces dug into positions in the Central Valley and the Cascade/Californian Mountains. Forcing in essence, a stalemate - and the surviving SLFR Military Command would call for a cease-fire only a few days later.

The Seventh Step: Eden's Gate

"Oh man, you're going to have endless uprisings if you do that." ~ High Level Salt Lake Military Advisor
As the dust settled following the nuclear strikes and subsequent call for ceasefire, it would soon be revealed just how strongly the tables had turned. In a matter of moments the WC had regained air superiority over the entire front by bringing a total of 5 Carrier Groups and their air-wings to the battlefield - while the SLFR had lost its forward strike capabilities. Additionally an extremely large area of contested land would come to exist between the SLFR and WC, for which massive local popular uprisings where actively occurring against SLFR forces. And despite the ceasefire between the militaries of the WC and SLFR, nothing was stopping local WC civilians from enacting regular asymmetric attacks on SLFR occupation forces in the area, slowly bleeding the SLFR regional forces dry.
This most prominently can be seen in the Californian Central Valley where no side has managed to gain total control - despite numerical odds laying in favor of the WC. Concerns over the civilian well-being has prevented large-scale WC operations in the area, as the WC hopes for a negotiated withdrawal backed by the credibility of the reinforced WC army. Meanwhile the entire Pacific Northwest Cascades is now one large contested war-zone, with low-intensity skirmishes putting at risk the broader cease-fire currently in place.
With the appearance of the full West Coast navy, the sieges of San Francisco and Los Angeles have likewise been lifted. With overseas food resources now being brought in en-mass as the SLFR cannot contest the skies against the abundance of land and naval air power. Las Vegas likewise has remained unconnected from the broader WC - with most communications in and out of the city being cut.
In the SLFR's own home-front, local garrisoned forces outside of Denver have launched increasingly less coordinated and non-state sanctioned raids against the population in retribution for the loss of Salt Lake City and Santa Fe. Meanwhile the broader population is still in shock, coping with the loss of two of the biggest cities in the entire country. War is the last thing on the mind of the SLFR populace at this point - with the economy having officially reached rock bottom. Likewise the SLFR has been left relatively leaderless as only Mitt Romney, Norton, and several other key figures survive as the last remaining government. While military command has been similarly destroyed. And while the SLFR still maintains enough of a deterrence to ward off the vultures by way of its nuclear bomb arsenal - it must be careful with how it proceeds.
Canada has also not been free of protests, a million man march has occupied the Capital city and Parliament square. While similar protests occur across the rest of Canada and notably in Quebec City, Montreal, and Vancouver. The population is demanding an explanation for why Canada was assisting in the invasion to begin with - as leaked documents from internal whistleblowers reveal the full extent of Canadian complicities in the invasion which led to the highest amount of Canadian civilian death in decades. The possibility of a popular uprising is not unfounded - both one local to Quebec and across Canada as a whole.

BATTLE NOTES

MAP

  • SLFR
    • Force attrition taking its toll. Actions against L.A. have prevented any future of HUMINT. Uprisings to be expected in any occupied areas.
    • Military and government in disarray following nuclear strike.
    • Population does not want to risk future nuclear destruction.
    • Cease fire in affect - with the SLFR having lost any hope of ever regaining air superiority.
  • WC
    • Vast amounts of WC land still remain contested.
    • Militia forces dwindling although Marines have reinforced - not expected to be enough to invade the SLFR mainland - although retaking lost territory shouldn't be an issue.
    • Air Superiority in favor of WC.
    • Ceasefire in affect - with control over DenveLas Vegas being limited at this point - although populations vastly support the WC/consider themselves WC territory.
  • Canada
    • Population uprising against government - active steps should be taken to quell Quebec/Ottawa protests.
    • Richmond and Langley fully destroyed - threatening Vancouver by proxy.
