What is this post about?

Bitcoin brought to light the power of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. I wanted to share some other projects to show the world that blockchain technology is a viable solution to real world problems. I had a look into some of the projects that are disrupting industries like advertising, communication, energy, finance, gambling, video games, privacy, and social media - here’s what I found:

Advertising

Personal data is gathered and sold to third parties, but the money never makes it to the user whose data has generated the value for the company using it.

• Basic Attention Token (BAT)
  BAT is a product of Firefox co-founder Brendan Eich, raising over $20million in less than a minute during the ICO craze of 2017. BAT is a feature of the Brave browser, enabling users to be rewarded in $BAT for their attention. As of March 2020, Brave has amassed an impressive 4 million daily active users.
  
• DAD (DAD)
  DAD, short for Decentralized Advertising, is making advertising data more transparent without infringing on users’ privacy. DAD uses the Lightning Network to facilitate high frequency microtransactions.
  

Communication

Edward Snowden (among others) revealed the extent of surveillance technology collecting civilian communication data and expressed the need for a safe, secure and surveillance free method for individuals and businesses to communicate over the internet.

• Status (SNT)
  Status is an Ethereum based encrypted messaging app, web3 browser and $ETH/$SNT wallet. Status was one of the most funded ICOs in 2017 and have achieved +10k downloads on Android phones. Recently, Status upgraded their communication protocol to allow 10x more users, however this only raised their limit to 10k simultaneous users.
  
• Orchid (OXT)
  The Orchid network is an incentivized bandwidth proxying protocol for a decentralized VPN that allows users to buy bandwidth from a global pool of service providers using $OXT.
  

Privacy

With the shift away from physical cash and the move towards online payments, user privacy is at risk. Digitalization often means more surveillance, privacy is more important than ever.

• Monero (XMR)
  With Monero you can spend safely, knowing that others cannot see your balances or track your transaction activity - by default. Using a combination of ring signatures, ringCT and stealth addresses, Monero provides all the benefits of an open-source and decentralized cryptocurrency, without any privacy concessions.
  
• Loki Network (LOKI)
  Loki is a Monero fork modified to facilitate instant anonymous transactions and communication. The Loki Network consists of Lokinet, an onion routing protocol similar to Tor, and Session, a cross-platform end-to-end encrypted messaging application with anonymous registration that has been downloaded +100k times. Both applications use Loki’s masternode network to anonymously route data.
  

Energy

Energy markets are inefficient and act in the interest of the middlemen, not the generator or consumer. With the continual transition to cleaner energy, the energy sector is looking to leverage new and existing technologies.

• Power Ledger (POWR)
  Power Ledger has developed a world-first blockchain enabled energy trading platform to make energy markets more efficient. Currently used in Australia, Thailand, India, Japan and the United States, The Power Ledger platform enables the trade of electricity in real time with all transactions recorded on the blockchain.

Financial Sector

The financial system is out of date and in serious need of an update. Traditional banking only runs during business hours and cross border payments are exceptionally slow, inefficient and costly. As we continue transitioning to a more digital world, money is making the same change.

• Synthetix (SNX)
  Synthetix is a decentralized synthetic asset issuance protocol that enables minting of synthetic assets when $SNX tokens are locked in the contract. Assets are assigned exchange rates via price feeds supplied by an oracle and can be traded on the Synthetix Exchange DApp.
  
• COTI (COTI)

Gambling usually takes place in a physical or virtual casino, where the house always wins. Blockchain based gambling platforms will provide more transparency on how odds are formed, fees are charged and how payouts are scheduled.

• WINk (WIN)
  WINk was the first DApp launched on Tron and boasts the largest library of casino games on the blockchain. WINk’s platform provides a set of tools and resources for developers that allow them to easily create unique gaming DApps. Video Games

The video game industry is an ever evolving space which often adopted technological advancements before many others. The use of Blockchain is being explored for things such as in-game Microtransactions and digital collectables.

• Enjin Coin (ENJ)
  Enjin is an ERC20 token built on the Ethereum network which aims to allow the gaming industry to create and manage their own virtual goods. Game developers could create their own in-game digital assets for their gaming community to use which would all be backed by the parent coin, $ENJ. Enjin soard to popularity on announcement of their partnership with Samsung.
  
• Decentraland (MANA)
  Decentraland is a fully decentralized and open market where you can discover, buy, sell, and manage parcels of virtual land. Using Decentraland’s editor, you can design your own pieces of land in the virtual world. Decentraland’s world is built around MANA, an ERC20 token used for trading goods and services provided by users.
  

Social

Typical social platforms are run by centralized companies and depending on their jurisdiction, they may not be able to serve certain people. Censorship resistance is critical to allow for freedom of speech.

• Steem (STEEM)
  Steemit is a blockchain-based blogging and social media website, which rewards its users with $STEEM for publishing and curating content. All text content is stored on the Blockchain for eternity, although images still require a hosting platform such as Imgur.
  
• Hive (HIVE)
  Hive, a new fork of Steem, recently launched in an attempt to limit exchanges from using customer holdings to participate in governance attacks, as witnessed on the Steem blockchain earlier this year. This comes with a move towards providing a remedy for distribution issues and reliance on a central entity for code and infrastructure.
  

Looking forward

There are literally thousands of projects out there, these are just some of the projects I've found to be doing interesting things. If I’ve missed something super important, let me know. I might look into blockchain projects next that have the most current active user bases if you guys like these kinds of posts.

Poker is a popular card game across the world with the excitement of gambling and potential for huge payoffs. Almost integral to the poker game are the poker chips, and indeed poker does not feel like poker without poker chip sets.
The chips are small discs of various colors representing different denominations, meant as substitutes for real money, which is instead stored in a more secure place. The use of money substitutes, or token money, can be traced back through the 13th to 17th centuries in Europe. Today poker chips are often made according to themes and formats that unite a particular set of chips. This is useful in avoiding counterfeiters, even for games at home or in private.
Casino chips use many different anti-counterfeiting measures, with the most basic being chip coloration and embossed or molded patterning. Holographic inlays, distinctive colored markings on the edges and ultraviolet markings on the inlays further deter potential counterfeiters. Lastly, Radio Frequency Identification or RFID tags are used by some establishments. The latter method can be quite costly, but the establishments that use them feel the cost is justified. Given the difficulty in counterfeiting chips, poker chip frauds in casinos are rare.
If you plan to play in private though, you should be careful of frauds, especially if you are using mass-produced chips. Another reason for these security measures is to identify which casinos they came from. This is usually not a problem, since casinos usually honor only their own chips and it is more of a matter of branding. In Nevada however, casinos are permitted to honor chips from other casinos, and these identifiers make returning chips to the casinos they belong to easier.
Poker Chip Sets - Composition and Coloration
Authentic casino poker chips are made of clay, though not pure clay which is too soft. Special composite mixtures have been made, using trade-secret techniques, the confidential nature of which is yet another speed bump on the counterfeiter's path. I'm trying to fulfill a few needs for a large scale monthly/bimonthly recurring festival larp and wanted to get as many suggestions/as much outside input as possible (this community can be such a helpful resource for small game designers and I was hoping you might "way in" on this dilemma).
The main functions that need to be met:

1. A currency that players can physically carry around and trade amongst themselves (so far it's a single denomination "a coin" this keeps things simple)
2. A way to lessen the workload of checking-in and checking-out (so far the way it's done is: at check-in players request an amount of $ from their "account" if they have it; we give them a bag of coin equal to that amount. At the end of the weekend players "turn-in" their bag of coins at check-out; we then tally the amount and add it to their "account" - rinse and repeat. You can see how "the more players you have" the greater your workload - this is a ton of work.)
3. A passive or semi-passive way to track counterfeiting (to make things more complicated 'counterfeiting' isn't against the rules "but in-game it's illegal" - we need a way to track what's an official-coin and what isn't; so that at check-out the players can be informed of possessing counterfeit-coins "that wont be added to their account.") Edit: It just dawned on me that I should point out: game management wont be the ones making the counterfeit coins, players who want to counterfeit would.
4. whatever we come up with needs to lessen the workload on the game's management: it need to be scalable (and this is the dilemma; some/most systems that work on a small scale stop working as efficiently when up-scaled)

Keep in mind: If the economy isn't heavily inflated, then players won't need to carry around bags and bags of currency at a time. If most of the things a *generic general player stand in* want's to buy during the entire game; adds up to 30 coins the size of quarters... that's a pretty small coin pouch (generic example: one *desirable game thing* might cost 1 coin/token, and one *really desirable game thing* might cost 3 coins/tokens, etc.)

So far (after doing a lot of research and looking around) I'm leaning towards something like passive-RFID Tags and inductive-coupling readers (like modern casino chips). The upfront costs are higher but I think in the long run the work load and functionality will make a huge difference.
Any insight or suggestions that you can provide will be appreciated.

I’m familiar with the online casino mission of FUN, but are there any plans to move into physical casinos as well? I consider FUN a casino chip 2.0 and find their position more defensible as an improvement on the classic casino chip.

In an online casino, FUN is a specialized application of Ethereum that’s biggest benefit is that the design and development is focused on a singular use case. Once FUN validates this use case (which, as an investor, I’m hoping they do) what’s to stop more widely accepted projects with greater network effects from coming in and taking FUN’s lunch? We all know consumers have a preference towards liquidity and Ethereum is more liquid than its ERC20 counterparts (at least for the foreseeable future).

However, I think FUN has an amazing opportunity to tokenize wagers at physical casinos and become chip 2.0. Based on a little research, casinos use chips instead of dollars for a few reasons: gambler psychology, security, convenience, and data.

Psychology. Casinos use chips because it’s less painful from a psychological standpoint to lose some brightly colored representation of money than cold hard cash. Chips provide just enough abstraction from greenbacks that we perceive them differently and are thus willing to part with them more readily. I’m not a big gambler but have observed similar behavior in the way I use Venmo and even my credit card. I know it’s completely irrational, but I feel less pain completing a $100 venmo charge than I do forking over a wad of cash. This is not an uncommon psychological phenomenon as a long-known budgeting exercise is to pay for everything with cash over the course of a week to closely observe your cash flow and “feel” the cost of your expenses.

If big crypto (ethereum in this case) is a riskiemore volatile/[educated] gambler’s version of fiat and FUN is an abstraction of ethereum (as all ERC20 tokens are) then there are a couple of conversion steps for the user to get back to dollars. Convenience. It’s more convenient to gamble chips than handling and counting a bunch of dollars, especially when gambling large sums. This is another area where fun is a step function improvement over chips. With FUN, everyone has their “chips” conveniently stored in a wallet and can choose precise increments they wish to wager.

We must also remind ourselves that Kushner is a member of the radical Chabad sect that aims to have 2,800 slaves for each of its followers after the rest of humanity is killed. After meeting these people, Donald Trump signaled his reluctance to go along with their crazy plot by announcing the U.S. was going to withdraw from Syria. So what happened? Why did Trump suddenly order the attack on a Friday the 13th, of all dates?
The answer, according to CIA and other sources, is that the Khazarian Zionist crazies, desperate as their control grid collapses, carried out a massive campaign to force the U.S. and Russia into World War 3 and thus start their long-planned Armageddon.
The key was the raid on the offices of Donald Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, on April 9th. The aim of the raid was to find material with which to blackmail Trump and thus force him to order an attack on Russian troops in Syria and start WW3, according to CIA and Pentagon sources. Since Trump’s Atlantic City casinos went bankrupt in 1991, 1992, 2004, and 2009 and since Trump was likely to have been bailed out by Russian gangsters and other dubious characters, there can be no doubt that plenty of blackmail material was found.
The U.S. military responded by posing for the following picture on the night of the raid.
“The message is that the U.S. military is solidly behind president Trump,” and “the message to the cabal is indicated by 9 on the left and 11 on the right,” Pentagon sources say.
The U.S. military nonetheless went ahead with the April 13th attack on Syria because…
of a deal reached with the Russian military and the Syrian government, the sources explain. In this deal, the U.S. military was given three authorized targets inside Syria—a derelict building scheduled for demolition, and two empty airbases—in order to deprive the Zionists of an excuse to expose Trump’s dirty laundry, while at the same time avoiding a world war.

One meme going around after the latest attack showed how ludicrous the official story was by noting, “We are bombing Syria because Syria is bombing Syria.”

The U.S. military has also made another move against Khazarian control of the media by forcing Martin Sorrell, the head of WPP, the world’s largest advertising company, to resign last week, Pentagon sources say. Also, the Harvey Weinstein scandal has “dashed Disney CEO Bob Iger’s presidential ambitions,” they note.
There is now going to be even more serious payback for this attack based on easily and widely-proven lies. The first casualties are likely to be the Khazarian mafia slave governments of the UK and France.
The situation in France is becoming especially critical. Fabrice P.J. Dubordieu, the Foreign Affairs Adviser for the French National Transition Council, speaking for the Council, said that the French military and police are on the brink of open revolt against their “impostor government.”
According to Dubordieu, once French President Emmanuel Macron took power through a stolen election, he immediately got into a fight with “highly respected Général Pierre de Villiers, which led to his resignation the on 19th of July 2017.” His replacement by yes-man Général François Lecointre, whose reputation is tainted by his involvement “in several dirty operations in Africa” and who is “not respected by his peers,” is “one of the many” reasons for tension with the army, he says.
The transition council reports that strikes are being carried out by the judiciary, the riot police, and the regular police.
Judges and lawyers are upset and have been staging walkouts because so-called “judicial reforms” are eroding their power and restricting human rights, they say.
They report that the Compagnies Républicaines de Sécurité, or anti-riot police, are not allowed by law to strike, so instead they have been collectively calling in sick because they are exhausted from fighting French students, union workers, and environmentalists, many of whom are members of their own families.

Now his old ship Calypso has been refitted and upgraded with the latest technology and is in the region helping figure this out, along with American, Chinese, and Russian military ships armed with high-tech underwater radar systems. “Apparently there is also a very large deposit of Rare Earth Elements found on the floor of the South China Sea, including a vast amount of Platinum mixed with PGMs (Platinum Group Metals). This is another reason for the ‘Great Underwater Wall of China’ around the perimeter of the Nine-Dash Line established by China in 1947.”
